Driving home from St Louis in the middle of the day and decided to stop in Centralia for something to eat. We Yelped and the top choice was this place. It's 2:23 pm and we just walked in stood for about 5 minutes, could hear people talking in the back, watched a woman with gray hair push a cart through the dining room but no one ever greeted us. How long are you supposed to stand in someone's establishment without being greeted before you leave? And by the other reviews if THIS is the nicest place in town, I'm glad we're looking for something else. You had your chance Jerry! read more

It was a hot summer night when I pulled into Jerry's to refresh myself of their delicious cuisine. The decision on the menu for something cool caused me to contemplate on something that I never tried. I decided to have the large shrimp and crab salad. The serving was presented, and I was overwhelmed at the volume of it. The shrimp and crab both were chilled and fresh. Lettuce, boiled egg, cheese, tomato, onion, radish, and carrot filled the large bowl. For my dressing I used an Italian spiced vinaigrette that was delightful. The pricing of the Dish met to my satisfaction. However, the service and camaraderie was one of the main reasons I visit Jerry's. They make you feel welcome and provide an enjoyable ambience within their professional environment. I was deeply satisfied, as always. read more

My husband, I eat there almost every week! The owner is hands on and along with him and the rest of the bunch, they are the most friendly people. We always enjoy our lunches there. Never had a meal there I didn't like. BTW, no lie...The cheesecakes are amazing! Ask about the " stolen from Jerry's" pillows ...it is hilarious! Buy one as a memento of your visit and follow the rules of purchase...teeheehee. Check out their Facebook page and you'll know you're going to the right place for lunch! Lunch as very good! Chef salad was fresh & really big! The pork tenderloin sandwich was delicious. It was so large it didn't fit the bun! I took at least half home for another meal/ added another bun! Service was very good & everyone was very friendly! Would recommend!!! read more

Wow... what a great place to eat delicious home made food and share fine hospitality with relatives and friends from Centralia! Visited Jerrys and had perfectly prepared home cooking. My girlfriend had the grilled salmon, baked potato, salad and I had the delicious chicken fried steak with gravy, a huge dinner portion along with a salad. Later on we enjoyed the turtle cheesecake, homemade to absolute perfection. The ambiance and vibe were very comforting and all had a fine time together. Very highly recommended! read more

A couple times in a row I got something simple - chicken tenders and chicken fried chicken dinner. Was very underwhelmed for the price. I'm expecting better quality than skating rink fried chicken anything at that price point. The French Dip sandwich is my fav but it's still small for the cost. Quiet environment. Super friendly people. Owner is very nice! Again locally owned - so super important for me. IMHO the prices reflect a couples night out, business lunch type of place. I'll go back, but I know what not to get. read more

I recently ate here with my husband,son and mother in law.My mother in law wanted to go here for her birthday. The food was very good here.There is a wide selection to choose from. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken.In my opinion,it was better than any Chinese restaurant that I have eaten at so far. It was fresh and hot. My husband ordered the chop steak with cajun fries and my mother in law had the petite sirloin.Most dinners come with a big salad.We had the chocolate cherry cheesecake for desert. Been going there since I was a little kid playing baseball. Went to the old place before the fire and afterwards. Always good food and polite servers! We never have to wait very long and we always seem to get our starters quickly. Most of the time I get a steak and I always seem to get a good cut. Once in awhile I get one with too much fat, but that is about the only thing i can say that sometimes disappoints me. Great place to eat, but maybe a little pricy. read more

I am a big eater. When I was growing up in Radom, Illinois I did not really realize I was big eater. How can this be? For one thing the family unit used to eat at a place in Wamac, IL called Jerry's Bigger Jigger. It was a steak house with portions that could be considered daunting by those of faint heart. It just seemed normal to me that a baked potato should be three time the size of any I had seen to that point in my life (this is fine dining after all). I just thought if you are going to pay a little extra you should recieve a little extra in quanity as well as quality. One of my biggest complaints of all restaurants is why do they not give more and or bigger sides? I mean what does that cost a restaurant a dime or so to add more? I want to take every friend from Springfield, IL and set them down at Jerry's and show them that this is a correct portion for the money! The Jigger is sadly gone and I believe this is what has carried on from the original owners (I have moved away many moons ago but the wait staff seemed to be the same). I ate here six months ago and was impressed. I felt a little like Alice in Wonderland with my drink. The soda glass is what 40 some ounces?!? This makes sense to me for it saves the waitress making excessive trips. The menu expanded from standard steak fare but I wanted a REAL steak. The salad that came with my meal was very good with the amazing house dressing just perfect. Large ribeye was huge and perfectly cooked and the potato correct sized and prepared. I mused after my meal why do I bother going to some other chain steak place? Jerry's does everything so much better and it is a locally owned and operated. I feel at home there and believe all who try it would too. read more

Absurd. We have eaten here 3 or 4 times recently and it's just not what it use to be. Our $30 steak was 1/4-1/3 fat all on one end and the rest was just terribly tough. We were also served small soup portions in a coffee cup...might have been their attempt to be trendy. A large portion of salad with only one piece of salami? Weird. Service was decent but this place is way over priced for what you get. I wouldn't call a place with a drop ceiling, spray painted chairs, and "Sexy Back" playing on the speakers a "high class" place. I don't make it out this direction very often but when I do, I always stop at Jerry's. The wait staff is always friendly and the owner is often on site making sure everyone is well fed. I was worried with limited seating and it being a weekend but I still got seated quickly and my steak (try the prime rib) was just perfection. I could not recommend this place enough. It is everything a local restaurant should be, even if I drive an hour to visit. read more

I am so confused by this place- is it chinese? is it american? is it mexican? is it italian?--- hmmm..... we went here Friday night for a birthday dinner- the interior is cute, and cozy- and decently sized- the menu---- ugh. so weird. they have tons of chinese dishes- along with mexican food- as well as pasta dishes- and they are known for good steaks--- identity crisis? who knows---? now, onto what i ordered- all dinners come with soup AND salad, and a side. i ordered the filet mignon with steak fries- first came the salad---- in a bowl that Olive Garden serves on the table- it was HUGE---who serves their house salad in a bowl that big?? it was good nonetheless- i just thought it was odd- and it had tons of veggies on it. The soup--- i was confused by-- the soup of the day was chicken tortelinni. Again, they serve it in the HUGE bowl- but it was less than half filled with soup- i dont care how much soup i get, but whatever size bowl you choose to serve it in, fill it! Use a smaller bowl if you dont want to fill the big bowl up. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and i ate it all- the steak fries were just steak fries- i dont know if we will ever be back- bc we arent from that area, and it was a special occasion type of thing- but i really cant say anything bad about the food itself. read more

I have ate here a couple of time and to be honest all my complaint have to deal with the menu choices. It seems like there is an identity crisis going on here do to the vast varieties that are offered. Then there is the sub par food i ordered the cheeseburger and got a freezer burnt piece of meat with a slice of cheese on it. Other than this, the inside of the building was nice and the staff was very friendly. This place has potential to be great. just needs to focus on doing one type of food really well. read more

I wasn't impressed with the food at all. Very over priced for not so good food. We had the sampler which all tasted like fried fish. (We didn't order fried fish) the ribeye was over cooked and had no seasoning at all. My husband's steak was also over cooked with no seasoning. I was told after the ex wife took over everything had changed for the bad. I would say that's an understatement. read more
