We come here every so often and have always liked the food. Today we get here early about 4 pm to beat the rush. The dinning room wasn't very full but when they seated us they took us to what used to be a patio. Now it's enclosed and there is a bar a stage and plenty of seating. My problem was the fans that were blowing made it difficult to have a conversation with my wife across the table. I told the server it was almost too noisy and was having a hard time hearing him talk. He said he'd talk louder. That didn't really fix the problem. Not real sure why we were seated in this area because the dinning room had plenty of space. We had a little trouble communicating our order because of the noise. As I stated a couple times to our server. I communicated I have trouble hearing in areas like this and he just kept talking louder. Anyway we finally got our food ordered and went for a salad in the next room. My wife even commented on the empty tables and asked my why I thought they put us in that big room. Idk? So we get our salad and it was good. Kretzers had a decent salad bar. One of the reasons we like the place. I ordered a 12oz ribeye rare with a baked potato. Wife got chicken strips with gravy and mashed potatoes and gravy. When the food arrived everything looked good and the server said some things that I have no idea what. Even the wife didn't know. I go to open the butter for my pita and it's not butter. It's an oil whip. I do not eat fake butter. It's harmful. To find out they have no butter in the place. So I tell my server of the situation and looks at me like he has no idea what to do. Turns and walks away. So I eat my steak and stare at the baked potato. I am a recent cancer survivor and have no ability to make saliva. So I needed the butter to make the potato edible. Or even gravy or something. I told the server but I don't think he heard me correctly or didn't know what to do. It was so loud with the stupid fans. So while I do recommend Kretzers and like their steaks and crab legs and salad bar. I don't recommend their new addition to dine in. And if you want real butter bring your own. I was a little disappointed with our experience this time around. read more

Kretzer's is about an hour away from STL. The restaurant is in a small town that doesn't seem to have much else. The drive is absolutely worth it for all you can eat crab legs! They have daily specials and you can find them on their Facebook page. Today we had a wonderful server named Shannon. She was on top of checking on us and keeping our drinks full. She also brought us more hot butter The legs are all you can eat for $54.95 and you get two sides the salad bar can be one of those sides as well. Six of us went for all you can eat crab legs today and had a wonderful time. You get two sides and the salad bar was a side you could choose. The salad bar offered a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as potato salad, pea salad, broccoli salad, and couple of different pasta salads. Broccoli salad was my favorite. I chose onion rings as my second side and the others chose Mac and cheese and potato casserole. My onion rings were fantastic and the others raved over theirs. I was amazed when the server brought our first trays of crab legs. They started us off with 6 clusters each. I finished mine and had 2 more. This was more than I've had, but the others had 10, 12, 15, and I think 16 was the most in our party. There was a table of 3 guys who were cracking crab legs when we first sat down and were still there when we finished, so I know we didn't break any records. Needless to say, these crab legs were wonderful. Perfectly salty almost sweet with butter or garlic butter or Cajun butter. It was incredible. It was so good we had the server going back and forth several times taking away shell buckets bringing more fresh steamed crab legs. He was very friendly and attentive. At the end of our meal, we had a birthday celebration and several tables of people joined in and one of the tables shared they were also celebrating a birthday. We came for the crab legs, and they are priced nicely and taste delicious. My husband got the ribs and he said they were dry and he wasn't a fan. The service was good and our drinks were consistently refilled. My only complaint is we were sat in an add on building with a stage that doesn't have air conditioning. There are giant fans but it was miserable sitting out there. Not getting a choice of inside with AC or sweltering barn add on is why it's getting 4/5 stars. read more

Tried Kretzer's for the first time today. It was quite good. The dining room is very large (over 25 tables), well light, clean and decorated in a rustic style. Lots of room for large groups. Our server was extremely attentive and checked in on us milt times. I had fried chicken, baked potato and baked beans. My wife had catfish nuggets, baked potato and salad bar. All were very good. Portions are huge. I think we will each get 3 meals out of each dish. The chicken and catfish were not greasy at all. I think there used to be a little bit of heat worked into the batter. WOW... Love this place.. I thought I would never find a place for all you can eat crab legs again since COVID. This place is legit. Amazing crab legs and they are not at all stingy with refills. I have a record to keep up and beat it with the number of clusters I can finish.. My old record 12 and now it's 15. These legs are yummy and easy to remove. The special comes with 2 sides, and I save those for taking home.. Just keep the legs coming. The drinks are good, and our service was spot on.
