The technician told me the compressor had failed and that I needed to buy a new refrigerator. I wasn't confident in that diagnosis, so I called Sears Appliance Repair for a second opinion. Their technician quickly identified that the compressor start switch had failed. He replaced the switch, and the refrigerator has worked perfectly ever since. I contacted this company to request a refund because of the incorrect diagnosis, but I've heard nothing from them since. Do yourself a favor--save your money and call someone else.

Quality Electric is an honest company that fixed our electrical problems quickly and relatively…read morecheaply. Brandon was like a detective, diagnosing and repairing what turned out to be three separate problems. The first two problems he resolved pretty quickly. The third one, no power to our 1931 detached garage, was a stumper, and he called his supervisor. I appreciated there being a more experienced electrician he could turn to. In the end, Brandon noticed an obsolete outlet on the wall of the garage down near the floor. He figured out that water had gotten into the outlet wiring, which was still live (!) and that had caused the problem. Fortunately, there were two wires in the metal conduit from the house to the garage, and he was able to attach our garage electrical service to the newer one. This was a much better outcome than digging a trench through the back yard from the garage to the house to run new wire and conduit. A less honest and competent company might have dug a trench to create a bigger, more expensive project. The office staff is also very professional. Setting up the appointment, paying the invoice and having a receipt emailed was easy.

The name is misleading, would not consider this quality. Called the company last Friday, explaining…read morethe scope of the project for my House and the type of quote that I would need. Informed they would need to send this to the residential project manager and would have someone call me. The time was set up for today. A gentleman came out I explained what was going on same as I did on Friday. He proceeds to tell me that this type of quote would need technicians to come out and do all the testing and that would take at least a half a day to a days worth of work to be able to generate that kind of quote. I asked if he could look at an outlet to see if looked like it was grounded properly or if there was any knob and tube present visually present in the house up in the attic he told me he's not able to do that. I then asked him what the purpose of him coming out today is and why both our time waswasted given that I explained this whole situation on Friday. He blamed his office receptionist saying that it is not the receptionist role to schedule a technician call versus him coming out. I explained we had another electrical company come out this week with technicians having no problems giving us a quote. This company has breakdowns in communication they waste your time to take off work. I would have had no problem paying for a quote today, had it been setup that way. He was insistent I wanted a free quote. The company just had a failure of communication and what should have been done today. He also informed me he is the vice president of the company. If that's the case I would keep that info to myself, As a VP he's not accepting responsibility.

My experience with Radon Systems was a bit of an ordeal. Initially, the estimator misinformed me…read moreabout the feasibility of mitigating radon in my home, stating that the upper slab that most of the house sits on couldn't be reached from the basement. However, after receiving contradictory quotes from other companies, Radon Systems revised their assessment, acknowledging that the slab could indeed be accessed from the basement and I booked a time with them for an installation. When the installation date came around, the tech and a trainee arrived and told me that the system would be tough to install and couldn't be done without removing a dryer exhaust vent that was blocking the path that the radon system would need to take. I was told that the dryer exhaust vent was taped in with a type of tape that wasn't designed to come off and I might need to hire a handyman to remove the pipe and schedule a new install. This was frustrating as the original estimator had not mentioned this at all and after waiting a month for this install date and making arrangements to be at the house during the installation, I now had to wait almost another month for a new installation. Also, I found out later that the tape came off the dryer vent very easily and could have easily been removed in a few minutes to allow the installation to proceed on the original date it had been scheduled. Then, when the next installation date came, the tech that came was just the trainee from the first installation attempt, who took roughly 12 hours to complete the installation (what I found online seemed to indicate that a radon system installation job usually takes 3-5 hours) and needed to call a more experienced tech for help countless times throughout the day. There were numerous issues along the way, including problems with wiring the system, and after he said that the job was finally done and left, we noticed that the radon exhaust pipe in the basement was incredibly loud and actually was not even connected to the part of the system drawing in radon from the sump pump. Although the tech was very courteous, a hard worker, and was trying his best, this was clearly a job that required someone more experienced and it's frustrating that the company decided to send him by himself, especially when this tech admitted that this was his very first solo installation of a radon system in a residential house and both people that had looked at the house earlier from Radon Systems said this would be a tough job. After talking with Radon Systems again, the owner sent another tech to correct the issue of the pipe not being attached. He then said he would be back to fix the electrical, which had not been wired well, but it was only after multiple follow ups that a tech was finally sent out. I was then told I would get the results of the radon test within a business day or two. After almost a week passed, I followed up and they finally sent the results. Although the system appears to be working now, the path to getting here was not pleasant and could have been avoided by Radon Systems prioritizing customer service and satisfaction and not just trying to cut costs by sending a brand new tech to tackle a tough job.

If I could give this company a zero rating I would. We have used this service 2 times, and both…read moretimes resulted extremely poorly. Situation #1: We had a broken ice cube maker in our fridge. The gentleman from Affordable Appliance removed the ice cube maker (per our request), however, he neglected to turn the refrigerator back on before he left. My husband and I didn't notice until a few days later and by then, it required us to throw out roughly $150 worth of food. We called Affordable Appliance to alert them of the mistake. After being challenged about our food loss (which we weren't asking to be reimbursed), Affordable Appliance agreed to not charge us for the fee. My husband and I believe in giving second chances, especially to small business owners, so when Situation #2 arose, we decided to give Affordable Appliance another shot. Situation #2: Our washing machine stopped working. An Affordable Appliance repairman fixed the problem, but after he left, my husband found a leaking hose connection that was severely kinked (we believe the repairman shoved the washer up against the wall which caused the kink and hose connection to start leaking). When we called Affordable Appliance, they gave us every reason as to why this was not their fault. The owner, Jeff, came out to take a look and once again was extremely stubborn and unwilling to take any accountability for the leak (which clearly started after the repairman had worked on the appliance.) This company does not take accountability for its actions and their repairmen have shown sloppy work and have lacked any attention to detail. I would not recommend this company to anyone because clearly they do not understand customer service.
