The referral was written in 2019 when I wanted to get braces but I chickened out. Unfortunately, cavities started developing on all the wisdom teeth over the last two years to the point where I noticed my breath did not feel clean even after brushing, flossing and mouth rinse. I decided to come in for a consult to get my questions answered. Dr. Jiries Mogannam provided my consult. He answered all my questions and gave me my options. He explained to me that the wisdom tooth can give me more issues down the line even if I can patch up all the cavities now. His main concern was the oral hygiene of my mouth and to protect the nearby molars from decay that could be spread from the wisdom teeth. He was not pushy, I left informed and empowered to take the next step. Plus, I still wanted braces so it makes sense to get the surgery. The surgery was quick and painless because I was out! I was filled with anxieties the day before and even while sitting in the chair but I knew it needed to be done. I was in and out in a hour. The recovery was painful and that was expected. I followed all the instructions given in terms of oral care and food choices. I survived to tell the tale and I am the biggest chicken out of everybody I know so if I can do this oral surgery so can you! Thank you Dr. Mogannam, the assisting staff members and the front desk! Everyone was friendly and made me feel at ease.

I was referred to Dr. Chavez by my primary dentist for a tooth extraction and subsequent implant installation. Tooth extraction.... quick and painless. I was worried about the implant installation. I arrived at the office and was seen right on time ( a rarity in the medical industry) Everyone I encountered were above par, kind and attentive. I was walked back to the office; the procedure was explained to me in great detail. A few more assistants were in and out explaining costs and procedures etc. Dr Chavez came in and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained in detail the process the day of and in the future. A local anesthetic was administered ... again Painless. The local anesthetic took effect. Dr. Chavez and his assistant were a "well-oiled machine" and worked very well together. All during the procedure every step was explained as they were moving through the tooth implant installation. Before I knew it.. installation complete. Dr. Chavez explained how I should feel in the upcoming days and made it very clear that he was available for any questions. His assistant remained in the room and explained all of the steps I would need to do in the days following the installation and provided a step-by-step handout to refer to. She walked me out of the building. Another amazing aspect, the local anesthesia was exactly that ... LOCAL. it blocked the pain only in the area that the surgery was performed on (and I didn't feel ANYTHING!) my tongue, face, nose were not numb! I could talk and I didn't feel like I was drooling. Frome start to finish, I was out of the office within an hour. Dental surgery can be scary. Never having a tooth problem and not knowing what was happening; when the pain started I was confused and it was like nothing I've ever experienced. Bone crushing pain in my jaw that I understand is like or worse than childbirth, I give homage to all of the people who have gone thru this type of pain, no one really knows that this is the worse pain possible. Confused, I had two emergency room visits and was trying to figure out how to get to a dentist? It turns out my dentist scheduled me for an appt for a week out. When I arrived to him, he insulted me and kicked me out of the office for being in pain and limiting his access to my mouth (please read my review of him). And he referred me to an oral surgeon whom I immediately called; they saw me right then. For some reason they scheduled a surgery for another date, I think that doctor was actually trying to save the tooth in mention, seeing I could not open my mouth no one actually saw the tooth, so in this pain I waited yet again. By the time for the actual surgery I had been in this pain that had caused shock for about 10 days; violently shaking, no food, only pain pills and Ice...anything to help with the pain. I went to her office in Healdsburg. When I got there she realized that she would not be able to make me numb enough to do the job, so she called Dr. Toms office and they even drove me over which was close. I did have to wait for a while because the doctor was in the middle of working on a client, totally understandable and he and his staff stayed there after hours for me. At this time I do have to say that the Doctor that works with Dr. Tom saw me first and asked me if I had had anything to eat, in order to put me under general sedation, and I said that I had had some water in the morning and it was after 2ish. He said he didn't want to do it because he thought I would die, and then when I was crying in pain, he actually asked me if I wanted to die then! Turns out he had an appointment. Dr. Tom couldn't have been nicer, he is a big bear of a man and his personality is as large, in my opinion I felt safety because he was totally in control, and his staff has the humanity that I have not seen on this planet since the 70s. These folks saved my life! Their sense of urgency and compassion is stellar and the service didn't stop there. He insisted on seeing me numerous times after, in the healing process to make sure I was "out of the woods." The last time I went there for my final check up, I was overcome by gratefulness for the sincere humanity of this remarkable group of people. I will always be indebted to you because this was to date the worst event of my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Dr. Tom extracted two of my teeth and did a bone graft in April, and the final result was very…read moregood. However, the office didn't give me much information at all about what the recovery would look like. When a problem arose post-surgery, Dr. Tom saw me right away. During the appointment, though, he was unkind and unprofessional. We spent only a few minutes together, and he seemed angry throughout. I pointed out that he was yelling at me, but he didn't change his manner. I asked a few questions and he barked his response at me each time. The door was open and my husband was able to hear much of the exchange and his impression was that Dr. Tom seemed impatient and unsympathetic. Dr. Tom went as far as to say that he only cared about whether my husband made his doctor's appointment in Santa Rosa, (which we'd scheduled around) and didn't care about me. I can't imagine Dr. Tom would treat a male patient this way. Please choose another provider if you want to be treated with respect.

Our family has been going to this location for many years and we had insurance to cover our treatment without any out of pocket, but things happen and our current insurance was no longer on their preferred network. So with this unknown status my son goes to his annual cleaning and then told his insurance may not cover all the cost and that he would have to pay out of pocket for his services. We live over 1 hour away in Willits, CA and he did not know he would have to pay out of pocket until that day. I always try to guide my kids to call me directly if they feel like they don't know how to make a good decisions without my presence, but he thought he would be taken care of as he has with every visit. Then the office asked if he wanted fluoride treatment and X-rays and most people without insurance would most likely opt out of this unless it's free or minimal cost so he did it with good faith that it would be covered by insurance for some of it. In the end he had to pay out of pocket over $234 for everything and for a young college student working part-time that is sad to have been taken advantage of like that. I then called and spoke with Noelle the office Manager who claims she had something come up and that was the reason she did not return my calls as requested last week. Claims that she spoke with the dentist and just danced around my request for some type of credit back for the misfortune with my son's experience. So now I have to write this bad experience review and it all could have been resolved if they just treated my family like a valued customer, but instead I have to chase them for a call back and turn to Yelp to share our experience.
