When my Dad unexpectedly passed, we were given two hours to contact a mortuary to collect him. The first mortuary that we had (admittedly) lighted vetted answered our panicked midnight call, only to tell us that they would not receive a COVID patient and did not have the capacity to embalm my Dad. After quickly scanning online, I reached out to Porter Loring North and was immediately connected with the kindest intake specialist. Within two hours we received a confirmation call that my Dad had been collected and was safely resting. The next morning at 9am, we spoke with our designated funeral director, Monica, who thoroughly outlined next steps, timelines, etc. Due to backlog, we had a bit of a wait until my Dad's actual service and burial, but throughout the process, Monica had the expertise, empathy, and patience of a saint. Communication was constant and accurate. Porter Loring seamlessly navigated me and my Mom through all aspects of the service, from submitting forms to life insurance agencies, ordering death certificates, assisting us in creating a slideshow, and arranging flower deliveries. My Mom and I were never pressured into any sales, and even our smallest requests were honored. There was last minute confusion (on my part) regarding a song to play during my Dad's service, and Monica stepped in to correct the issue personally. My Dad's service was absolutely flawless, and I believe Porter Loring gave my Father the respect and dignity we could only hope to provide for him. He was the best! TL;DR - If you experience the death of a loved one, this is the only mortuary in San Antonio that I would ever recommend utilizing their services.

While I did not have direct contact with Porter Loring as far as funeral and rosary arrangements, I was impressed with the services. Everyone was extremely helpful and attentive to our family. The facility is nice, not super new, but spacious and respectful for the events held there. The reason I'm writing this review is because of Clayton (didn't catch his last name). My grandpa is blind and was having some trouble walking, and Clayton was there assisting him throughout the service held at our church. He even helped me guide him from the car to the gravesite where we buried my granny. I thought that was going above and beyond for a grieving widower, and such a simple act, but wanted to be sure he got the recognition. One need only to walk through and see absolute quality. They will be doing my headstone. My father was cremated and a Veteran whos remains were buried at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Mr. Bass was my initial point of contact and was very caring and kind as he assisted with my pre-need arrangement plan for my Father, who was 94 years of age. While speaking to Mr. Bass, I realized that I too would have to cross this bridge so it was best to start my own pre-need. When the time came to use my Father's pre-need arrangement plan, shortly after acquiring it, my family was met with the kindest, most caring person we could have asked for: Kassi Quintanilla. She welcomed my family, on the day of his death, with patience and understanding of this tragic event although it we knew the time would arrive. Kassi, followed the procedures dotting all i's and crossing all t's. She worked with the cemetery to ensuring my Dad would have the honors he deserved and followed up almost daily to check on me and my needs. From the very beginning, I knew that the Lord had sent this angel (Kassi) to watch over me while I navigated this difficult process. Picking up my Dad's ashes was truly a tough task but the staff was there to support me. Most of my Family have been buried with the services of Meadowlawn over the course of many years. Employees are ready to help you park your car to attend the gravesite service. The cars are lined up in a way so as to make leaving easy for everyone. Not so much at other cemeteries, where you are pretty much left to your own devices. So a bright spot in an otherwise sad day. The cemetery is not a large one, but it is kept in a pretty condition.
