First, stunningly, my loved one didn't look anywhere near who she was in life. Second, the owner made a disparaging remark about our loved one a few minutes after we had did the final viewing in preparation for the wake the following day. We were grieving and emotional and the owners comments were rude and disrespectful about our loved one's weight. At the final viewing, we requested a few touch-ups to the makeup and this simple action wasn't done. Third, we learned later that the owner was shining the casket on the day of the wake at the church and caused a stain on our loved ones clothes. Our loved one had requested we use this funeral home so we followed those wishes but after this experience, we would never use them. Previously, this funeral home was tip top thus the reason why our loved one requested we use Sutton & Sutton Mortuary Funeral Home. Opportunities of growth in diplomacy, professionalism, follow-through, authenticity and diligence are needed. Fast forward to us not only being emotionally crushed by a sudden death, but the fact we had no funeral plans. It was unerving to call them while my fathers body was still in the hospital room next to me, but the woman who I talked to on a weekend evening calmly explained the process and assured me we'd get through this as quickly as possible to start the grieving process. They handled everything as they coordinated certificates, transportation, and even got us in touch with a cemetery I had been trying to find a contact for years to for myself. They helped me create a customized service for dad, and were very accommodating to help keep my mother's stress levels down during and after the funeral.
