The staff is very attentive, and the food is delicious. Some interesting details include a plaque on the side of the baby grand piano that states the great Byron Janis played here on this lovely old Steinway. On my last visit there were some problems with the heating in the dining room, it was terribly cold and they seemed unable to fix it, however it was extremely hot upstairs. I was surprised, because everything else seemed to be in proper order. There's parking in the back, so don't bother pulling up to the front of the building, enter on Lytton Ave. There's a coat check room in the front, across the registration room. There's a dress code for the dining room, and I believe it is enforced.

It's a private city club, and the place is awesome from the minute you approach the building, which is a copy of a Venitian palace and sits on an entire city block. All cut stone is found in the lobby with high carved, coffered, and frescoed ceilings, paintings, a hugh stone fireplace, and polished brass elevator tambors. If someone invites you in, make sure to look at the main lobby ceiling. It's got carved wooden seals of all of the private men's athletic clubs that existed in the US, when the club opened. The club was founded in 1908, as a large brass plaque says, and on one of them is a list of past presidents, where I recognized a person my high school was named after. Cool. The dining service involves a lot of sterling silver and several forks, and turtle soup with sherry. If you want something not on the menu, they'll make it. It seems that there are always two or three dining areas to eat in, from one requiring coat and tie, to nothing but a jogging suit. My favorite is the Tudor Grill Rm, with it's vaulted molded plaster ceilings, that I'm told was once covered in tooled leather over the moldings. There's a hugh bowling alley, that includes duck pins, a gym with a canted track around the upper level, squash and handball courts, a large fitness center--never had to wait, large steam rooms-the kind in movies where deals are always done, saunas, massages, a barber shop with manicures, and a magnificent marble pool on an upper floor, with a walking track around it. And if you want to have lunch in the locker room, you can order and it is delivered. There are also sleeping rooms if you want to stay overnight, which we did after a late birthday party in one of the private dining rooms they have. There are even people who are full time residents. Like all private clubs there is a dress code (no denim for sure, on 1st floor and lobby), and no cell phones in the dining rooms, but I sort of like that. No one sits at the bar with a cap on. If you have jeans on, then you can eat in a sports bar downstairs off the bowling alleys, which is actually pretty nice. I'm looking into joining in a few months. You just need two sponsors who are members to write letters and say you are a good guy, etc etc. Meantime, I'm waiting for my next invitation to a workout and lunch.

Related to my specific circumstances, I enrolled my son in his Pee-wee boxing program at the age of six years old. He regularly attended this program and very much enjoyed the coaching staff. My son requires physical therapy for a motor skill delay condition and rather than sending him to occupational therapy, his pediatrician agreed that boxing would help him improve his motor skills and coordination. Thankfully, during the 3 years we attended (and never missed a payment spending $900 a year) we had very little interaction with the owner until recently. This past Sunday, apparently my card for my membership needed to be updated, but rather than notifying me in a professional manner, he texted me that he had canceled my son's membership at 6 PM on a Sunday evening because the card had declined. I did not respond. A few days later, he then texted me asking for updated payment information and referencing a past due balance. After attempting to understand the confusion in his communication, especially after he had already communicated the cancellation of the membership, which he charges prior to the start of the month, I could not understand why he was asking for a payment that I clearly did not owe. He went on a 5 paragraph rant about his membership program & ended it by making mention of another member who recently left the gym by stating "tell Rick I said hi!" He was specifically referencing my son's uncle, which made me realize this was the reason for his retaliation. After making him aware that I would be sharing my experience with everyone I come in contact with he then threatened me by telling me his "wife is an attorney and he will not tolerate any statements that would be damaging to his brand". He also let me know that he would pursue legal action "to the fullest extent of the law." We are clearly taking our business elsewhere, but I asked him to remove my son's images from his social media after all of this retaliation against a nine year-old boy due to his conflict with another adult, which once again, is completely unrelated to my son's membership. He has still not removed the 3 photos of my nine-year-old minor child on his publicly accessible, social media platforms which I clearly requested using the same cell phone # he was using to send his strange paragraphs from. My messages and requests have been ignored. I also commented directly on each photo stating clearly that he "does not have my permission to use my minor child's photos for any of his advertising purposes." Instead of removing the posts, he responded by blocking my accounts, removing my comments, and continues to use the photos my son is featured in for advertising purposes. He clearly has not brushed up on the laws protecting the privacy of minor children, but he will soon find out via legal consequences for this behavior.

Lots to do here, indoor and outdoor tennis, pong , basketball, indoor and outdoor pool, raquet,…read moresquash, aerobics, yoga and a daycare. I really love this gym, it has everything you'd want to do short of an arcade. They have a spa and a salon that does hair, nails, the full nine. When you first walk in they have glass windows to view the 7 -8 indoor tennis courts so you can watch people play. The salon and spa are on the left and these are available to the public so no membership needed for that part. There is a front desk where they greet you and ask for your ID tag. The front desk clerks are very fun people that we communicate with often. Pam and Matt are my favorite workers, they are always up for good conversation. There's a restaurant just past the desk, JT's @ the club. The owners of JT's rib shack in penn hills moved their restaurant to the club. It's a nice spot in their, more elegant and laid back. They serve sandwiches, wings, salads and a few specialty items that frequently change once a week or so. Still very good stuff and priced well. Downstairs is where all the fun stuff is, they have an full indoor basketball court where they also play badminton and have sit and be fit aerobics for older folks. The locker rooms are big and spacious with both tall and short lockers. They have 2 women and 2 men's locker rooms. A steam room and sauna as well as up to six showers and toilets. I've never been in the men's room of course but i imagine its just like the women's room just blue. But they have a sofa and love seat as well as cable TV and a tanning bed. Pretty awesome! The workout floor has a lot and i mean a lot of machines, sit down bikes, stationary bikes, 2 spinners plus an actual spinning class. They have rooms for yoga and pilates as well as tennis and squash courts. i love to play ping pong their too. There are resistant weights and free weights to workout with, treadmills, elliptical, stair climber, punching bag, and a track surrounding all the workout equipment. There are also 10 Tv's and the treadmills broadcast cable on the treadmills too. They have classes everyday for some different activity. There's also an indoor pool and jacuzzi/whirlpool. The outdoor pool goes as deep as 11 feet with 2 lanes for exercising swimming. With all the amenities this gym has to offer the price is comparable to the possibilities. It's about $40 a person unless you have a college ID or you join as a family package. I've been a member since 2011 and i have to say its one of the better gyms for all ages. But they are mostly old folks there. But that is a plus if your self conscience about the really buff and shapely folks.

It's a shame that a gym (or more so those running a gym) can actually make a child lose interest in a sport they once loved. I'm not a keyboard warrior just a parent watching out for my child and other unsuspecting families.

Pittsburgh Gymnastics Club, LLC reviews…read more I was forced post to websites of the gyms affiliates and workers because I felt the need to defend myself as Kim, the owner, under handedly blocked me from the group page and emails. None of what I posted was "nasty" as the owner rebutted. The statements were a true representation of what happened. I feel like people need to know what type of business owner you are. What type of business owner of a gymnastics class bans parents from seeing their kids in action especially being new and being the one paying. I come from far away to attend this little gym in Braddock, but now understand I was expected to go away and not watch my child. Where did you expect me to go for 1 hour 2 days per week?? Maybe the kids should come in snowsuits for gymnastics if you're so worried about the coaches touching a little sweat. This gym and owner is unprofessional when dealing with the public. My daughter had a midriff top on as part of her gymnastics outfit. It was the 1st time she wore it. I've seen other kids with backs and stomachs out before; and we are new or were new to gymnastics! I didn't know it was against dress policy, as I'm educated, not illiterate, and would not have put it on her if I had known. The instructor Sam told us she couldn't wear it again and I understood that. Then Sam ran and told the boss as soon as she got there for her to then reinforce it. Again I'm not illiterate or uneducated; I got it the 1st time! They demanded my 9 year old, who hasn't a trace of protruding body parts, put on a shirt with less than 30 min. of class left. Upset my daughter tremendously! Instead of Kim, the owner making it more of a safety issue which I would have understood, she told me my 9 year olds sweat was GROSS! Yes she used the word GROSS! Are the faces, necks, arms, and legs of the children GROSS and part of a safety and sanitation issue you posted about on facebook? Because they are all exposed and get sweaty, touch the coaches, and equipment too. Maybe your in the wrong business!!! Maybe tbe kids should come in snowsuits if the coaches and owner are worried about touching the kids sweat. Again GROSS would not be the professional thing to say to a parent. That offended me tremendously and I made the decision to pull my daughter out of that gym. Then Kim rudely blocked me from commenting on the situation via email and facebook, after she posted a very offensive and UNPROFESSIONAL facebook post stating me and my 9 year old rolled our eyes, charging me for a shirt, and something about what my mama didn't teach me.... what is this high school? I should not be receiving any farther charges after 6/20/17 as my daughter used her own shirt. Who talks about a child as an adult and owner of a business that supposed to love and serve children?! Speaking of rolling eyes I witnessed teacher Sam roll her eyes and curl her lip at a student named Savanah just because she had to redirect her a couple of times. If you brought your kids to a practitioner to be treated, which is what I do, you would not like it either if I used slang/unprofessional terms such as GROSS; to describe a certain condition when treating your children. Learn from this situation and the loss of a new customer/client! Please, please learn to be professional if you plan to be open for any amount of time.

The appointment started on time and the young man that assisted my lad did a thorough job, watching him hit and taking measurements (they should have some shafts fitted with jumbo grips, though...as my 6 footer needs them). I told him I've hit my friend's irons pretty well who were +0.5" longer than standard. I tried a few different game improve irons while there and landed on TM Sim 2 irons. He insisted I should go with a half inch shorter than standard which I could not fathom how that could be...He said this was due to my swing path, I hit them okay during her fitting and to this day I really can't hit them consistently. For reference I am 6'3" and have long arms and legs. Not sure if that guy still works there or not but I would steer clear of him and ask for someone else for anything fitting related. I have since went elsewhere and got fit for TM P790s with that +0.5" shaft length and I am a much happier camper.
