Railroad theme
Carrie N.

This miniature golf course, located on Babcock BLVD, right by the DQ is so cute. They lack parking which I assume can be an issue, but fortunately we found some. This establishment offers two 18-hole courses, you can choose to do one or both. The pricing is very fair $6.50 a person. Cash only! We decided to only golf one course. I really liked the creativity of the course and the upkeep of the course. My favorite holes were those featuring railroad themes. Everyone had a good time, and we will definitely be back especially since my stepdaughter got a hole in one on the last hole and received a free game. It was really crowded so prepare for a wait if there is a larger group in front of you. Per the girl working the counter, they will stay open so long as the weather permits. Typically, mid to late October. Weekends only now that summer is all but over, and call ahead if any doubt, the answering machine will be updated with current hours.

I always have a great time putting at Kniess miniature golf on Babcock Boulevard. The staff is incredibly helpful. They offer two distinct 18 hole courses, and most of the course is shaded by trees, providing relief on a hot, sunny days. Some of the holes look deceptively easy until you tee up and give it a try. If you score a hole-in-one on the 18th hole, you win a free game. The prices are very reasonable: $6.75 for the first course, $5.25 for children six and under; playing the second course cost $5.75, or $4.50 for children six and under. Add Kniess miniature golf course to your must do list! To complete the adventure you must stop at the DQ across the street.

Such a fun place to mini-golf! Two 18-hole courses with tons of themed holes that are fun to play and fun to look at. We especially loved the Railroad side, which has holes with pirates treasure, car parts, bowling balls, and more. The owner was super nice and said he works on the course and adds decorations every year, which is so cool! Definitely a good family activity if you're in the area--we came from the southwest part of Pittsburgh to play (about a 45 minute drive), and it was totally worth it!

I almost didn't see the parking or place but it is tucked away on Babcock with a gravel area for parking right alongside the playing area. The staff here are very friendly, play area is spacious and capable for any age. Only about $7 per player per game. Weren't too many players and we had a great time. Only have this photo of my friend.

The cutest little mini golf place! Excellent for families or date night or hanging out with friends. It's cash only, so be pretty for that. There are two courses that you can choose from. My friend and I chose the garden course.

I was not expecting much from this mini golf place when I pulled into the parking parking lot. The sign was small and easy to miss, I actually drove right by it the first time and had to loop back around, but I am glad I gave it a try. This place has two 18 hole miniature golf courses. They only take cash, but they were cheap. It was less than $20 for two people to play both courses. Both courses are the classic mini golf style, not the park style that most of the new places are. Both course were fun, both had good theming, and both had fun holes. One side is more classic themed, windmill, bumper cars, big Ferris Wheel. The other side is more tropical themed, tiki huts and small water features. I think my favorite hole was the roulette hole. The only negatives for me were they need a better sign and parking lot. Also some of the holes could use some up keep, some of the turf was very worn out. Overall one of the better mini golf places that I have played. If you are in the area I would give this place a try.

What an experience so thought out for miniature golf! A hidden gem! Will definitely be back just an FYI it is cash only and reasonably priced! So much fun for adults and kids!

This course offers a lot of fun at a great value. Each hole is unique and creates a sense of adventure for the players. There is clearly a lot of thought put into the course. Many of the holes are well decorated with themed items that further add to the spirit of the course. The only knock on this course is that some of the greens are unpredictable and can often cause the ball to curve unexpectedly. Additionally, if you are here at night there are some areas that are in much need of additional lighting. Overall, this is a great place to play and I would definitely come back Update: I have now had the privilege of playing both the back 18 and front 18. For the front 18 it is a much different experience than the back 18. In terms of course design it is much more simplistic with increased emphasis on aesthetics rather than creativity of the hole. Certainly and enjoyable experience. Out of the two I would definitely recommend the back 18 as it is much more adventurous than the front 18.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at this mini golf course! First of all, you can play 2 courses for $10 which is a great deal! The decorations around the holes and obstacles on the courses are some of the best I've ever seen. You can tell they put a lot of work into up-keeping this course. The course is very neat and free of debris and the decor will make you want to stop and stare. There is also quite a few areas to sit if you are waiting for a group in front of you. The course is also near a creek/river which is beautiful. If you get a hole in one on either 18th hole you get a free game! 10/10 would recommend this course, we will definitely be coming back soon!

We took 6 grandkids and their parents and had a fun time. It's an old course with lots of variety - just what you want in mini golf.

The aesthetics are awesome, great for a girls night out when you want to be cute and take photos to post on social media(right now they have a pop up cherry blossom set up in the chalet course go soon like this week) and also great for date night memories. The greatness was our server Justin. We see management in his future and we all were speaking into existence for him. He was gracious informative and accommodating. Did not steer us wrong on the food made our drinks special for us now I can't promise the same for you (he might have felt like he was taking care of his aunties) but I still think at all times his service is top notch. 20/10 for the service 10/10 aesthetics and atmosphere

NOTES: -Call ahead if you're really set on a specific course or experience. During our visit, they closed off the entire first floor (and Lodge course) for a private event. However, as noted below, getting a human on the phone can be difficult. There's "Puttshack", a very similar concept, a block away if you really get blocked. -The electronic scorecard only allows you four players. (Unsure what another reviewer said about gigantic groups. It, literally, is only programmed to allow four players. It's very possible that parents were just letting kids playing alongside with zero "scorecard" as it'd be easy to do that.) -The Lodge course is on the first floor, and the Garage and Library are on the second floor. There's an elevator between the two, but I'd caution people with limited mobility that there are narrow walkways within most of the courses themselves. Restaurant/hallways are wide enough for wheelchairs if someone wanted to accompany though. -When we came, the Library was decorated for a Valentine's Day pop-up. You could play the Valentine's Day pop-up just the same as regular Unlimited, making their "upcharged, single Valentine's Course" event really expensive with no gain for you. I'd have been annoyed if I'd paid that for the promised "romance and lots of Instagram worthy spots", but it was a cute addition to the standard Unlimited Normal price we paid. -If you want to memorialize your scores, take a photo of the digital scorecard right after you put in the final score. Like, be READY as soon as you put in that number. It disappears into the ether as soon as that final score is put in. I'd love to see it wait for a confirmation/30 second delay to allow people to get pictures before the final scores disappear. PROS: -No idea why they make each Puttery so gorgeous, but they are. The interiors are very shiny and thought-out, and if you're not pressured mid-courses, it's really fun to look at the details they've put into the course decor. (From iconic photos of Pittsburgh to historical posters of golf or fun-looking books). Even the seating is comfy and pretty, and I'd come here just to sit and have drinks, a la cocktail bar, if I was in the area. -A good variety of drinks with mostly housemade ingredients. Sweet or spirit-forward, they have both (and beers and wines). They're $15-ish a pop per cocktail, but as it's hard to take a break mid-course, you'll probably only end up doing a few if you do all three courses. -I love the drink ledges at each hole. This makes things so much easier to play. Make it to your course's hole, put down your drink, take your shots, and pick up and get ready to move on. -Each course is REALLY well-themed. Our car-loving friend fell in love with the Garage, and I loved the calm and astronomical vibes of the Library. The Lodge was cute, too, and it felt really applicable for winter. -Really, it's just an amazing experience. I have complaints, but I haven't really found a competitor doing things much better than the Puttery does it. We love coming to Puttery locations. CONS: -I went to a Puttery in Minneapolis, and they had a great happy hour. Before I popped into Pennsylvania, I wanted to see if I could plan to hit up their own happy hour. I tried for (literal) days at different times of day, calling the number to see if I could get a person on the line. I'm not sure what was going on, but it took calling on four different days to eventually get a person to tell me they don't have a happy hour here. I'm really frustrated by companies continually crapping out on their ability to contact a business ahead of time. -Someone needs to rethink the drink ledges in the Garage section. The "ledges" are as tall as their highball cups, making it very, very hard to retrieve a cup from the ledge without touching straws and the drinking areas of the cups. Considering how dirty your hands get from constantly touching new surfaces in here, this was really gross. The drink ledges in the Lodge and Library did not have this issue. -Unlike my experience in Minneapolis, every course had an attendant near it. However, the attendants were playing on their phones while many of the ledges had abandoned/empty cups sitting on them. Zero complaints about playing on your phone, but make sure the area you're monitoring is clean first. -I had this same complaint at my last Puttery, but I LOVE the electronic scorekeeping. Every hole, you take your turns and you put your score into a tablet attached to the start of the course. It then, digitally, moves your scorecard onto the next course. It's SO convenient. It also means that you can't "swap" groups mid course. If there's a single kid zooming through on Unlimited plays, he'll be constantly stuck behind you, waiting on you to finish, as the scorecards don't allow you to "swap" with a group ahead or behind you.

I have many great memories of visiting Sunset Golf from my childhood. Growing up in Jefferson…read moreHills, this was one of the closest mini golf course to us. I wanted to visit one more time before they permanently closed, so I did just that on the last weekend of operations for the mini golf. Sunset Golf is located on Brownsville Road in South Park. It is in a more serene area, and has a private parking lot. Along with mini golf, there is a driving range, golf lessons, a pro shop, as well as some concessions to partake in. We visited on the final Saturday of operations for the mini golf, arriving around 3 PM. It was fairly busy, but we were still able to enjoy our afternoon mini golfing and taking in the atmosphere. I thought the price for mini golf was fair at $8 per person. The mini golf was lots of fun! It was a 27 hole course, with a lot of variety in the holes. There were some more simplistic ones, and others that were more intricate. Some of my favorite holes were the water fall hole (#2), the Grinch House, and the Pirate Ship holes. Some of the holes were challenging, such as the one that is simply an uphill slope, or the one with a rotating receiver. The variety was nice to keep it interesting and moving along. You could even win a free game of mini golf, or some strokes removed from your overall score, depending on your performance on the last hole! I enjoyed getting to keep score the old fashion way with the book and paper. This place overall has a nice blend of newer, more updated aspects, while still keeping true to its history and providing some nostalgia in ways such as. I think on a normal day, you could probably get through the course in about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your party size. However, since it was more crowded on this day, it took us closer to two hours to get through since there were a lot of groups ahead of us that caused a natural bottleneck. The staff members were all very friendly, and also helpful. I could tell they took care in their work, as I saw several taking care of holes and keeping up with the landscape while we were going through the course. For example, coming through with a blower to remove mulch from the greens. I have always loved this place, and was so glad to be able to visit one final time. I also got to bring my fiancé here for the first time this trip, since he is not from here and had never been before. Even despite the extremely harsh heat and sun, we thoroughly enjoyed getting to visit this day! I will always cherish the memories made here, such as my sister's birthday party when we were kids, and all of the other good times over the years. We will definitely miss having a locally-owned mini golf so close to home, and being able to support it!!! Thank you, Sunset Golf!

It is located near South Park of Allegheny County Parks, right on Brownsville with a free parking lot, and I wish I knew about it sooner. We went at the perfect timing as it was pretty empty our first game and then our second, more people came. Their prices are incomparable of only $8/person for 27 holes of outdoor mini golf with each hole having a really creative theme about it (ninja turtle one with sewers popping up, grinch one snowing with bubbles, mario, ship with weather storming for a nice cool off during a hot day - to name a few) and the second game is half off so if you play a second it's only $4/person. The driving range goes by how many balls you'd like, I believe we got a medium basket for $13. The last hole of mini golf gives you a chance to win a free game. We had a wonderful bonding experience. Maybe only good tip to know is bring your own water bottle and snack as we were able to bring ours but they do sell water bottles for $1/each. Such an affordable nice time, we can't wait to be back! (Also captured a beautiful rainbow on our visit!)
