Scheels is always solid. Lots and lots of options! The only downside is that parking is sometimes difficult but it's not a dealbreaker.

My first time at a Scheels but was sad because of Covid the Ferris wheel was shut down. My grandson was so looking forward to it. But he still had fun checking out all the animals, the live fish and doing the shooting gallery. It's pretty much like Bass Pro but more selection of sports. So there is positives and negatives. We went really to buy all his baseball equipment and was able to find everything he needed and in the color of the team. The prices are much like Bass Pro/Cabelas and Dicks. So it really just depends on what you're looking for. You want a wide variety of sporting equipment then this is a good spot. They don't sell firearms or ammo though. You gotta stick to Bass Pro for those items. read more

So disappointed in the customer service and customer loyalty from Scheels. Or should I say the lack there of. A couple months ago I was having payment issues with my Scheels Outdoors rewards card. My monthly payment was getting returned. After several calls and several other payment attempts where their customer service only advice was to try again I finally get an agent who listened to why I was calling and was able to help me fix the issue and witchin seconds it was fixed and a final payment was made. By this time Scheels (Colorado Springs, CO) reported that I missed my November payment (not accurate). This report has hit my credit for more than 70 points and Scheels (Johnstown, CO) refuses to fix or help with the isssue even though each of the customer service reps as agreed that the issue was not my fault and agreed that it should fine fixed. The payment reported missed was in November and my payment that was finally fixed and accepted was in November. I am completely disappointed because I love the Scheels store and they do not seem to reciprocate when it comes to their customers. read more

I love going to this Scheels. This is the closest one to my house and it's a couple hour drive for me. It's always fun to go in and see what all there is. Every staff member I've ever spoken to in any department is always extremely helpful and polite. Seriously, I don't know if I've ever seen one of them have anything close to a bad day. Most staff seem to be knowledgeable on the products in their area. I haven't explored all sports but my experience seems to be consistent in the areas I have shopped. Would highly recommend a fun outing to here if you haven't. read more

Being from the eastern side of the US we are used to stores like Dicks, Play it again sports etc., never in my life could I imagine a store like Scheels. And I love it! Never fails I find something I don't need there and buy it, they have everything from work out gear to home decor. I won't lie, I shop their sale racks the most...who wouldn't? I have purchased shoes 50% off, jeans half price and work out gear for half price. When family comes to visit we always bring them to this local attraction. The kids love the aquarium pillars and the Ferris wheel, they even have talking historical figurines. Being an employee owned store ensures there is always someone there to help and support. In every section someone asks if you need anything, if they have something mis marked (price) they will give you the lower price with out batting an eye. There is even a food court....just crazy how much variety they have. Weekends are very busy, try to come early or during that week. You can open a scheels credit card and the perks are nice and add up quick if you are purchasing your sports gear there. read more

I have been a customer of Scheel's in Overland Park, KS since the store opened. During that time, I have spent over $15,000. I have always had a satisfactory experience, until today. I was in the gun department and was "helped" by somebody, that in my opinion, shouldn't be allowed near any customer. He was unhelpful, condescending, rude and actually embarrassing. Other customers were looking at him shaking their heads. Ok, I don't have to spend my money there, so just decided to leave and quit doing business with them. After I got to my car, I decided to call the Manager of the department. Matt took my call and was apologetic, but made no offer to correct anything. He was polite and thought he knew which employee it was, and said he "had been on the block" for a while. Maybe they should take him off the block before the lose more good customers. I know, it's one bad experience out of many good ones, but it was so egregious and so embarrassing, I can't step foot in the store again. read more

I was in today to return a pair of binoculars that now were on sale for $70 less. The man working the customer service this afternoon was rude as I have had the same experience 2 other times. The people working in the departments are Frey and the checkout people could not be better. I recently bought a Kershaw Lucha, it's a $150 knife. Not only did they agree to price match Blade HQ. However Kershaw had some minor quality control issues that resulted in slightly misaligned handles. Really it was no big deal, it just irked me for what was $134 after tax. I called Kershaw to ask what repair time would take and they said there was about 11 or more weak turn over period. Having just bought the night I couldn't wait, so I contacted Scheels and drove out there. Not only did they take the knife back they let me choose from their selection to find the Kershaw with the best alignment. I'm ecstatic about my a new knife, and it's near perfect alignment. thanks to Scheels I won't have to wait more than 3 months the play with my new knife. Great knife BTW, amazing clearances and swing. I definitely recommend, check handle clearances if small imperfections bother you. read more

This is not just a place to go and buy clothes, it is a really great experience and a fun day trip! They have a café, fudge, a Ferris wheel and a great fish tank/small aquarium. They have an excellent selection of home decor, sporting goods, athletic clothing, kids clothing, guns and ammunition and so much more. After a few minutes I said "excuse me do you think I could take a look in the display case ?" His response to me was " when I'm done." I was very impressed with the store and employee knowledge and encouraged my husband to buy a rowing machine here. Bad mistake. He purchased on Tuesday, saw same model at Academy for $120 cheaper so he went back for a price match. They claimed the model was slightly different so he came home only to discover the model he got and paid for was different than the floor model and exact model from Academy. They weren't trying to work with him so he returned everything. Satisfaction Not guaranteed. He went to Academy and got it for cheaper and that salesman immediately told him how to bypass the fitness set up which took him 11/2 hours on the phone the day before to find same answer. This place is kind of crazy. I did not expect this from Kansas City, but it's like the Las Vegas of sporting goods stores. With two large wooden Bear and Moose statues out front, and a massive aquarium placed right by the check out, Scheel's is a little ostentatious. Did I mention that they have a cafe inside and a ferris wheel? Yeah... it's kind of a full day experience kind of thing. I came in with low expectations and was just trying to help my boyfriend find a pair of sweatpants. However, we were absolutely blown away by the service of every single individual in the store. Associates were always willing to bend over backwards to help you (in a non-intrusive way). They let my boyfriend in and out of the fitting room about a half dozen times as our mission expanded from sweatpants to shirts and jeans due to their enthusiastic service. They were very interested in finding us exactly what we wanted and were extremely knowledgeable about their stock (the guy knew all the names of the types of jeans and every single color that they came in). They also have free hemming if you buy pants in store! Overall, a strangely pleasant experience. It kind of makes me wish we had one in the Chicagoland area as well! read more

I am a big sports person playing soccer, etc. But, I came here to see the ferris wheel using our coupons from the KC Visit guidebook. We had 2 for the both of us to get wooden tokens. It took maybe 5 minutes around 2-3 times. Overall, it was kinda interesting to see this inside the store. I think I was more amazed at the big aquarium with fishes and corals. I've only been here 3 times so far. The 1st time i was here for 2hrs, lol. The 2nd time, was to see the stuff that i missed and the 3rd was Christmas eve, big mistake. I love this place as it has everything I like, but the low stars are due to the manager at the shoe department. My wife wanted to buy me the timberland boots for my birthday and I asked the manager prsn'l if they have it in a different size and if they have wide sizes which he checked on his little device full of uninterested emotions and told me that they do not. I asked if they will be ordering some more different sizes and he said they won't be... And that was it. I felt like it was very rude, unprofessional, and isn't a way they should treat a customer who was planning to spend $200. The upstairs portion is amazing. read more

This place is the taj mahal of sporting good stores. The Overland Park location is the only location in Kansas and has been opened for over a year now. The place is huge -- I'm talking about they have a Ferris wheel in the middle of the store and an aquarium with live scuba divers in them huge -- and it caters to people who are fans of all sports. Need hunting gear? They have it. Need fishing gear? They have it. Need camping gear? They have it. Need baseball, softball, football, basketball, volleyball, beach, wake surfing, swimming, hockey, wrestling, airsoft, paintball, track & field, figure skating, golf, disc golf, surfer, inline/skateboarding, racquet, fitness gear? They have it ALL. This place is a one stop shop. Also, if you order online and your order is over $25, they include free shopping on returns. I LOVE YOU SCHEELS. You know in movies how there's that one scene where someone has been living in the store usually behind a toilet paper fort? THAT WILL BE ME. Except I'll probably be living in a camping display. Very clean set up as far as store layout. I was probably here for a little over an hour just browsing. Scheels is like a Dick's meets somewhat Bass Pro on steroids. I'd go as far to say their sporting apparel selection is probably the best in the metro. I also really enjoy the different displays as well as the little things to do (think Buck Hunter, even bowling). Best part? The indoor ferris wheel. But what's better than the ferris wheel? THE FUDGE SHOP. So many different flavors and combinations. It's hard not to walk out with an overzealous boxload. read more

Usually good prices but service could be better. I have been playing hockey for 23 years and on one visit an employee was trying to sell a top of the line stiff 100 flex stick to a 120 pound kid who was just starting and should be in an intermediate 55-70 flex stick. I stopped him and helped the young man get what he needed. read more

If you need your sporting goods store to have a statue of Ronald Reagan in front and a ferris wheel inside, this is your store! There are other oddities about this place like the massive tropical fish tank and a cafe. But I suspect that all of these things get people in the door and most people likely buy something before they leave. The place is massive and has a lot of stuff you wouldn't anticipate finding in a sporting goods store such as home decor and lots of clothing of the non-sporting variety. I've been here three times so far, and each time I have made a purchase. The last time, I bought arch supports and the hubby bought new kicks. The arch supports were a bit pricey at $44 bucks, but if you have crappy feet, good arch supports are imperative. Unfortunately, when I got them home, they wouldn't fit in my shoes, so I returned again to return them. The service counter was fast and friendly and didn't give me any trouble with making my return. read more

The selection is very stylish and current with today's trends. This place is truly awesome. The customer service is outstanding and everyone inside the store is always smiling and extremely happy to help. We have bought 2 mountain bikes and a bike carrier here and have had 3 different people help us. They took their time and answered every question we had and helped us with useful suggestions based on how we plan on riding our mountain bikes. We could have saved hundreds buying bikes somewhere else but spending the extra money here based on the customer service we had and the way we were treated made it worth while in my book. I just had to share my experience at the very overpriced Scheels tonight. We went to purchase new batting gloves and a volleyball. I had my two kids and they each had a friend with them. While the girls and I looked at volleyballs, the boys were looking at basketballs beside us. My sons friend accidentally knocked something over while throwing up the ball. It didn't harm anything. I ran over to pick it up and I told them to stop. Nathan Diesel, the manager, apparently saw this and was livid. He yelled at the boys. I overheard and said it was just an accident. He said this isn't a gym. I agreed but I said it is a sporting goods store and they were trying out your product. They have a golf simulator and baseball and corn hole, etc. It's a pretty hands on store. I was going to apologize and move on but then he wouldn't move. I stood there trying to browse, but he wouldn't leave. I asked him what else he wanted. He said "we could leave the store". What? I defended my kids when an angry grown man was yelling at them, and now you're threatening to kick us out!? These are good kids! They already felt very badly. Can't we all just help each other?! Needless to say, I will be shopping at Dicks from now on. read more

If you LUV Bass Pro and Cabela's then I expect you are gonna be WILD for Scheels in Overland Park, KS. Believe me, plain old Sporting goods stores are pretty boring by comparison. And Scheels does their competition one better: They have a BEAUTIFUL, full size ferris wheel operating right in the middle of the store! Also, animatronic Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson (check); a glorious aquarium of tropical fish that arches overhead near the entrance (check); and two massive floors of merchandise for every sport you've ever played or thought of participating in, plus several you didn't even remember existed. There is even a nicely laid out restaurant on the premises called Gramma Ginna's. Although we did not eat there, we did check out the menu and prices were very modest, which could be a plus for families. Sure, it could be a nice day trip and offer something fun for nearly everyone in the family...but don't count it as only a novelty destination, because that would be 'selling them short'. You will probably also be able to find whatever you were needing or wanting, as well, along with knowledgeable, helpful staff. I expect that one of these days we will be putting the great-grandkids into the car and heading over to take a ride on the ferris wheel. Rides are only a dollar. Added on 4/1/17 Friday evening found Hubby and me back at Scheels. This time we brought along a granddaughter and her son (our great grandson) and met another granddaughter & her boyfriend out there so we could introduce them to Scheels. We were there about 6 p.m., so the first order of business (after admiring the fish tank and the ferris wheel) was to head in to Ginna's Cafe for a bite to eat. Hubby ordered a BLT and I got one of the daily specials, A Tuna Melt sandwich which came with a medium drink and a bag of chips (my choice from those on display). My Melt was grilled and included American cheese and was pretty good. Hubby said the same about his BLT. Dear Granddaughter #1 ordered a Scheel's burger and Great-grandson went for the kid's menu Pepperoni Pizza which came with a choice of chips, applesauce or orange slices and choice of milk, apple juice or soda. The service is handled by ordering at the counter, you fill your own drinks, pick a table or booth and the food is delivered to the table when it's ready. The dining area is tidy, spacious and the booths EASILY seat six adults. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the food took only a short wait before it arrived. Our family members were duly impressed with the rest of the Scheels' experience, as well and, too soon, it was time to head for home. But not before a ferris wheel ride, a line of bowling, a turn at the laser shooting spot, picking out a 'six-pack' of fudge pieces from the many, many varieties available -- and saying hello to Jefferson & Lincoln on the 2nd level. The great grandson loved it all and I think everyone else enjoyed it too. read more

I love this sports department. I shopped at this store when I lived in Montana so I was happy to see this store here. So many great items, shoes, clothing, sports, hunting and so much more. You should be able to find everything you need here. Great place to shop! Good selection of the locally sports teams and so many great gift ideas. Always friendly and helpful service. They will price match any reputable website and take competitors coupons. I just went to buy some sweatpants and they were on sale for $39 dollars. I took them up to the cash register and she told me about their price matching so I quickly looked up my pants and they were $27 dollars online only at Dicks and they price matched them anyways!! THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL FOLKS AT SCHEELS IN OVERLAND PARK, KS I now have a loaner cable guard AT NO CHARGE and a new one on order from Mathew's and my d-loop is fixed and my peep is now served into the string. And the best part of all, I am hunting this weekend! This would have never happened had I continued with B&B's poor service and I would have missed the remainder of the archery season in KS. I will not waste any more time or money with B&B and Scheels now has my business moving forward. The next bow I purchase will be a Mathew's Halon or similar which will cost $1,500 plus. I would much rather deal with a company like Scheels that provides incredible customer service then a company like B&B that provides no customer service at all. Plus, I will now save gas money not having to drive all the way over to KC, MO. And not speaking with B&B on the phone ever again is just a bonus. WINNING WITH SCHEELS. Thank you Kole, Ron, Ted, Brandon, Tanner and Joe, you guys all rock!!!! Backstory.....I have previously bought a Mathew's bow and 2 custom strings from B&B Archery (total spent in excess of $1400) and I feel that B&B Archery has changed since I first went there 4 years ago. Customer service is almost nonexistent and the answers given to questions about pricing and various solutions are short and not helpful. It's almost like they don't want to help you out. I live in KS and so to drive all the way over to this shop in KC, MO means I have to go out of my way. Cont....My last 2 experiences with B&B have been poor. First, the custom string that I purchased this year was not done correctly. My D-loop was sideways and the peep wasn't even served into the string. To remedy this I took my bow to Scheels and they were more than happy to help me out. Upon fixing my string problems they noticed my cable guard was defective and had hair line fractures in it. I honestly have no idea this was the case as I've never dropped my Mathew's bow or had any problems with it; so I felt I was very fortunate that Scheels noticed the defective cable guard. Second, (Before deciding to use Scheels) I called B&B to see if they would tell me how much a new cable guard would cost for my Mathews bow and gave them the model and offered to give them the serial number; and I was told that they couldn't give me a price unless they saw my bow because there are too many parts to know for sure. I asked if they had any cable guards in stock and was told yes but then when asking them how much the in stock cable guards were, I was given the same poor response, "I have no idea how much they cost and you will just have to bring your bow in so we can see the part and call Mathews or check our pricing here; we just have too many parts to know the prices ahead of time". This is totally bogus and very crappy customer service and someone that doesn't care about customers. I then asked Scheels to help me out and they were more than happy to assist me the same day with AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Was just enjoying my time at Scheels with friends. The female worker with brown hair and an absurd amount of makeup working at the ferris wheel did not allowed all three of us to be in the cart together because we were considered 'adults'. No problem with that but one of them was not an adult. She was extremely rude. Not only was she rude, but she smelt of BO. Always had a great experience with the Scheels employees until today. Very disappointed. Will not return to the ferris wheel if she is working. Her name started with a 'K'. read more
