Finally someone came up with the portions that suits me! Just need to go there without the Beloved to have 2 parathas!

Veggie taste buds.... Just when we were entering the age of not experimenting.... well let me not be an ageist! Just when we were starting to be wise and not wasting time, money and most importantly our taste buds in eating out other than the Asha's, ITR... we somehow had a bad day and experimented at the scene! And what a scene it turned out!! Mirchi pakora was useless but the rest was genuinely tasty! Strongly recommend this place Well done to the friendly staff as well. Dosa was the winner

I missed the soft launch of Scene so was happy to receive an email from them about a 25% off food offer. I do like a good curry so was looking forward to going. (You can book a table online easily). Before everyone had arrived, we sat near the entrance where there is a bar and some seats/tables. It was a Tuesday evening so was quiet. However, when everyone arrived, we walked towards the main restaurant part and it was much nicer - for a start there were several other people eating and I liked the decor. The menu is a bit interested in that almost like an A3 size piece of paper with menu items on both sides and folded so its like a leaflet. It means that, depending how you turn it the items are upside down so you have to keep turning it over. Within minutes of sitting down, a waiter came up and asked if we wanted poppadoms. Yes please, of course we do!! :) Between the 4 of us, we decided to share the starters aka Street Corner. We picked a dish each which included the lamb chops, king prawn tikka and I think also the lamb tikka (?). They were all good but the lamb chops were the best. Recommended. For main, I went for lamb rogan josh and then shared sides of rice and garlic naan bread. The lamb rogan josh was really good. Not too spicy - actually not really that spicy but thats Ok with me. Although I do like spicy things - just not too spicy! Rather have the flavour than the heat. We were all very full so none of us went for a dessert. Lovely food. Great friendly service.

I came to Scene in Spinningfields on a Friday night, and was surpised at how busy it was. Those eateries at the bottom end of Spinningfields are so tucked away, its rare you see them this packed out! Friendly staff greeted us and took us to our table. Lovely interior - a lot of work has gone into it to give that authentic Indian feel, yet with lots of expensive decor and props around the place. Huge painted walls with intricate Indian designs. Such a lovely place to just gawp around at! The menu is extensive, and I was happy to see lots of street food inspired dishes which could be great for sharers or starters. Our waiter took some time out to recommend some options for us, and we actually ended up going with them. I went for a vegetable 'Samosa Chaat' starter, with potatoes, peas and chickpeas topped with yoghurt, mint and tamarind chutney. It was absolutely delicious! It looked like a open lid pie when it arrived! This tortilla base and sides packed with the yummiest filling. Not too spicy but full of taste and flavour. My guest had chicken and red pepper samosas- crisp savoury pastries stuffed with chicken and red peppers; accompanied with chana masala. Although he said they tasted great, he said they were slightly 'too much pasty' and not enough filling. However, the combination of meat and veg for a samosa filling instead of just having the separate fillings was refreshing to see. For my main, I opted for a king prawn dish called TIKHEY JHINGHEY (£14.95), which featured King prawns cooked in a tomato and onion masala with mixed peppers, spring onions and coriander. It was super tasty, although maybe a little hot for me, but my fault! My guest went for the SHAHI MURGH TANDOORI (£11.95), which contained pieces of boneless chicken breast marinated overnight in fresh yoghurt, ginger, garlic, garam masala, chili powder, fenugreek and lemon juice, seared in the tandoor served Hyderabadi sauce. This was a really nice dish, not too spicy but with a good kick, and also came with rice, whereas I had to order mine as an add on. The one disappointment was the cocktails, which although sounded fancy, just came in a regular tall glass with no garnishing or anything 'special'. Can't really fault this place other than the cocktails!

I popped here on Friday night for a quick bite before an event I was running and have to say I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. The food was very good, the atmosphere a bit flat (but that was because it was 5pm on a Friday in a very cavernous restaurant - and I'm sure it'll be better when busy) and the service a bit bizarre. First off the food I had was excellent - having done a yoga class in the morning I felt smug and thought I'd keep on the health wagon by having all vege and my takkha dhal and saag bhaji were both really nice with a lovely hint of spice. My cheese Kulcha was tasty and I had a nice glass of white wine (all came to £20 with an opening 25% off) So the food was great but the service was a bit off. First off the guy who served me who seemed friendly enough thought he had to explain the whole menu to me when Indian isn't exactly massively exotic nowadays...painful, when all I wanted to do was chill out and browse. Then the drink order was asked from me the moment he gave me the drinks menu, plus every time I finished things like poppadoms or main meal dishes he swooped in the moment my fork hit the plate. When I did try to get his attention at other times like ordering my food or wanting to pay the bill he was quite clearly chatting away to the other staff - so I'm not sure if it was his first ever time waiting on but it seemed like he had very little experience so could really do with upping his game (think he summed it up by asking me if I wanted the Sauvignon Blanc white seeing as that's the only way it will come...hence the name) But apart from weird service I think it's a cool place and another good addition to the Spinningfields area!

Great little booths for larger groups!

This three star is not because I don't like the place I just think it can improve with a few simple changed. Obviously as you walk in your greeted with wonderful smells and a lively welcome from staff. However the seating as you walk in seems a little crowded and disjointed, when I walk into a place I want to walk past the kitchen see what's going on then be seated. In here they kinda want to sit you at the entrance which in sure is to make the place look fuller but you really don't need to do that kind of technique. The space is lavish and you should definitely use it more appropriately! Ask people where they want to sit if its not too busy etc. Now the real reason I'm giving them a 3* instead of a 2* is the food it was frankly lovely. I tried lamb as I always do in a restaurant for the first time and it was great! Cooked lovely and I finished everything! (Normally a doggy bag kinda guy!) lamb chops were great! Slightly thin but I'm not one to pick holes. Price is reasonable, foods nice, and I think once they get past the teething problems any new place goes through I'll re-review them happily to a 4/5!

    Price good for 6 person

No.1 indian rest. I reviewed many rest. in Manchester, but this is the BEST ever. The place is wonderful and the view on the river was amazing. I like the decoration and seating area outside in front of river . Every dish we order was delicious . We order 3 kind of bread,, naan, rooti, chabati all was good. Naan and rooti good for dinner. It has free wifi. I highly recommend it to all Manchester visitor. It will be on top of my list every time I visit Manchester

The new shisha terrace is sensational

Not long ago Scene followed in the footsteps of Zouk and opened a beautiful Shisha garden terrace at the front of the restaurant. I'd been meaning to try it since its inception and when the sun made a late summer appearance last week I duly obliged. Incidentally this developement forms only half the story in Scene fairly short history as they plan to open another riverside cocktail lounge at the back. (which will also cater for Shisha as far as I'm aware. Is it better than Zouk? It's probably on par with it for sure, but it's a different beast altogether.. Comparing them would be like comparing two different sports. Sure they serve cuisine from a similar part of the world but the menu is different. The food definitely tastes different and the decor of the two restaurants is worlds apart. One thing Scene has going for it ahead of Zouk is that the Shisha lounge is far more spacious and has a strange Arabian nights feel to it thanks to the large colourful comfy sofa couch/cushion combo. The atmosphere was extremely relaxed and the demographic was a pleasent mixture of young professionals, erasmus students and local residents. In conclusion it was very inviting and I shall definitely be returning. The only slight blip was the fact that the staff weren't as attentive as they were at Zouk but in many ways that's understandable as Zouk is a lot smaller and more intimate terrace and thus its much easier to get the staff's attention. Shisha prices range from £13- £38. The Scene special (£38) can be shared and obviously works out cheaper amongst four friends. The drinks are also reasonably priced. I found the Shisha to be silky smooth and whilst I'm in no way shape or form a smoker, relaxing here with a few friends once in a while is definitely the "Friends Central Perk" equivalent experiance in 2015.

Pleasant Indian restaurant in the building which used to house Strada. Food, service and ambience were all very average hence the 3 star review. I made use of a January half price offer, though this was a specific menu, there were sufficient choices. They do try to upsell at every opportunity with poppadum, side dishes, desserts and drinks. So what started off as a half price meal ends up costing as much or more as going anywhere else. My main course was a Dhaba Murgh, which was tasty though unremarkable. Had a lengthy wait to pay before leaving as there appeared to be only 1 card machine for the entire restaurant.

Food was good. Had to wait for 30 mins even though I had made a reservation. Drinks came after asking twice. Staff was very Friendly but had to struggle to order anything. Overall not so good experience.

Great Indian street food, just like from the streets of Mumbai. Brings back memories of my time in India practicing international law.

Green lungs reporting for duty. Commence review of Shisha cafe. Wait.. What? You don't smoke? What…read moreyou doing reviewing a smoking gaff for? *Heavy Manc voice* I don't smoke. Cigarettes give me the heeby jeebies. But this summer I had a Katy Perry-esque encounter at a Yelp event in Zouk. I toked a Shisha and I LIKED IT! The flavour I had escapes me but it was smooth and surprisingly there was no coughing up a lung scenario. Was I a shisha toker in a previous life? Who knows but thanks to the apprehension of other Yelpers to try it I had one all to myself. I've never looked back. I mean I'm not saying I'm now addicted to Shisha or anything but shisha and chill with a mate has become an incredible new phenomenon for sure. This ultimately means that Manchester's Mecca of Shisha, Rusholme has been seeing me more often than normal. Wanasah cafe is very similar to other Shisha cafes but due to its close proximity to my secret parking location it's become my new fav hang out joint. There's aways plenty of room. The staff are very friendly. The place is open until the early hours 7 days a week which gives it a Marrakech holiday ambience. The interior is extremely well decorated with Turkish chandliers and incredible Arabic music. Last but not least they do my favourite Desi Chai, which is so delicious that along with blueberry and pineapple shisha will blow all your troubles out the water in minutes. (Desi chai is a frothy latte like milk tea with cardoman and fennel) The prices are extremely reasonable and that's not the only thing on the menu. Hot food and desserts are also served, though the menu is married unsurprisingly to shisha. So (don't rock up hoping to order a sirloin) it's a shwarma sandwiches and fries kinda scenario. They also do milkshakes, sundaes, ice creams and faludas amongst other desserts. Out door seating is covered so it's not rain affected and heaters are there but due to its open plan veranda type design you can actually sit inside and smoke. (A bit like the smoking area in Holdfast) There're so many Shisha bars in Rusholme to chose from I'll probably review them all in time, but for now Wanasha is my safe zone. So if any fellow Yelpoppers fancy it, I'll be up for a Shisha and chill. Just holler!

I've been to Rusholme, AKA Curry Mile on numerous occasions for both food and shisha, however on…read morethis occasion, it wasn't me picking the shisha bar. My friend (visiting from London) was not best pleased with the typical Manchester rainy weather and therefore opted for the shisa cafe closest to the bus stop, which just so happened to be Wanasah. Inside Wanasah is very modern and fresh, with black leather sofas and chairs and wide screen TVs on the wall (for those of you wanting to watch sports), it's certainly a great place to hang out, catch up with friends and relax - I think were in here for just over three hours in total. Initially we had a cherry shisha, which tasted delicious (and a little bit like cherry soothers), the flavour stayed strong for just over an hour with three of us smoking it pretty much constantly. The staff are very attentive and walk around frequently to ensure that the coals are still burning and to take further food/drink orders where necessary. I was in the mood for some peppermint tea and I'm so glad I picked it because it was served in a cute silver tea pot with a miniature glass mug. Absolutely adorable. As we were enjoying ourselves so much and time was flying by, we decided to get another shisha after the first one had finished. This time we had a vanilla one. This was equally as flavoursome, possibly more so as it lasted nearly two hours. The prices are ridiculously cheap. Six drinks and two full shisha cost a mere £24! If there was a sign, I didn't see it, but they do not accept payment by card. Luckily I just had enough cash to cover the bill, if not I would have had to run around curry mile in the rain looking for a cash machine that was working. Phew!
