Scarecrow Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch Mediterranean flavors and traditional European fare presenting New Zealand local vendors. Desserts and pastries are to kill for, such a selection, but start off with breakfast, they do it right. I had the Omelet with salmon and was done very well, salmon was on the side, expected it to be in the Omelet but all is good. Good food, great desserts what else can you ask for, how about a little shop to purchase items. There you have it all. But also, the service was the best!

The menu had a ton of selection, I'm traveling with a vegan friend and they were pleased with the options. I ordered the French toast and a hot chocolate. My French toast was flaky and Delicious. The cream they put in it bought the whole dish together. The grilled pear was unusual but sooooo good! The atmosphere was quaint and cute. I loved how there was a big bowl of bread that you could buy and knick-knacks everywhere. The staff were lovely and very warm.

One of the items on the menu ran out so I ordered the vegan shakshuka instead. And it was so delicious that I have completely forgotten what I originally wanted. Best substitution ever. The tomato sauce was so flavor with a hint of spice. I normally like my bread grilled when it's paired with a chunky tomato sauce, but I'm glad it wasn't because the softness of the bread soaked up the sauce. And I love the textual contrast of the crispy chickpeas. I paired this with a tea comprised of manuka honey and ginger. I wasn't getting sick, but after a long flight and 3 weeks of travel ahead, I wanted all the help I can get to fight any sickness. Even though it was hot (for me) and humid that day, the tea was so comforting. This was definitely a When Harry Met Sally moment, minus all the noise she made at Katz's. But I was eating outside and those passing by knew I was enjoying every bite. I really enjoyed the inviting atmosphere at Scarecrow. The employees I interacted with were really nice. It's a little cramped inside, especially with their packaged goods and other kitchen items that they sell. But it's a great way to meet people. And if you're introverted like me, there are tucked away corners and outside tables if you need some alone time. Definitely check this place out for delicious food, especially if you're vegetarian or vegan because they have some great options.

Love! Love! This trendy cafe. The ladies were very attentive and recommended some great items! Great place for a pre-first date, meeting, brunch. Great presentation of food, flavors and a variety of options to choose from, to include vegan and gluten free items.

Great brioche French toast and Overnight Oatmeal. The cappuccini are delicious! $48 for 2 cappuccini and 2 breakfasts. Service was friendly and speedy.

Yet another example of perfection in Auckland. The breakfast we had was delicious and wonderful. Salmon omelette with a side salad. The place has a charming store feeling to it and we loved every minute. All the employees were delightful too. Don't miss this place.

Shakshuka with perfect eggs! Good location with indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of eye candy - I mean flowers for sale outside and gifts inside. Service is good. Now my question is, what is up with the name?

Walking into Scarecrow reminded me a bit of The Wizard of Oz, probably because there's a giant scarecrow on a bike in the window! Aside from that, this new pop up grocer/cafe has just re-opened up on Victoria Street (corner of Kitchener Street) and is seriously the coolest place I've been to this year! Scarecrow is a collaboration between POPdining, Kokako, Karma Cola, Nice Blocks and the AUT Hospitality School. The concept is to showcase seasonal produce and artisan products from around Auckland and beyond, whether it be trying out one of their breakfasts, lunches, dinners or cabinet food from their cafe or fresh produce and breads from their grocer. Chef Ben Barton is the mastermind behind all the meals - he prepares them all the night before at the AUT Kitchens and puts them together the next day at a small workstation (which is located at the back of the grocer). Today as I was trying to figure out what to have for lunch (not many options, but still hard to choose!), I got talking to the owner. He was really friendly and very passionate about Scarecrow, which he also runs with his wife. He highly recommended the 'Beef Brisket on Rye Bread with Sauerkraut'. And it was absolutely divine! The beef was succulent and the rye bread perfectly toasted. The sauerkraut also added a lovely freshness to the dish. They also do an AMAZING heirloom tomato and burrata salad and also baked potatoes with eggs, Gouda cheese and salad.. They serve many more meals, but I am yet to try them! Vegan cakes, mousses, chia puddings and pastries are also available, plus chocolates from Criollo, made by Bjorn Svensson, an experienced patisserie chef. I couldn't help myself, but I just had to buy a chocolate - all three front of house staff recommended one of Criollo's salted caramel chocolate balls. O M G. Amazing! Melt in your mouth! They're only $2 each and absolute heaven! The grocer on-site will also help fix your foodie cravings! My favourite products were the Wild Wheat breads, Waiheke Island honey, Nice Blocks, Ceres Organics, Culley's Hot Sauce and so much more! But possibly the most exciting thing about Scarecrow (for all you coffee lovers out there) would have to be their 'Kokako Slow Brew Coffee' station - the first of its kind in New Zealand. They have all the equipment and an amazing little set up, and I think this will become very popular in time! Furthermore, they have a small area for making up flower bouquets and they also sell flowers by the stem and can do CBD delivery too. So, if you love coffee, healthy food and fresh local produce, then I highly recommend heading to Scarecrow now - you won't be disappointed!!!

If my friends and I ever started a hippy commune this is exactly what i'd imagine our "general store" would look like. Freshly cut flowers, delicious vegetarian salads, raw cheesecakes and of course all the basics... kombucha, sauerkraut, coconut yoghurt, muesli. Seriously though, Scarecrow is a great and much needed addition to the CBD. Whether you want to pop in for a quick salad plate and Kokako pour over or peruse the shelves full of goodies sourced from all around NZ, it's a one stop shop for all those who are health conscious and want to support local business.

Crows may be scared of scarecrow, but I certainly am not! Scarecrow has been on my "to try" list ever since reading many awesome reviews (including a super detailed one by fellow Yelper, Georgie B.), and I'm so glad I went for lunch the other day. And yes, those reviews are extremely well-deserved. The quirky bike-riding scarecrow on display at the main window definitely had many passersby doing a double take, while the space inside is comfortable and inviting. It's decorated with rustic, wooden furniture - a large shared wooden table that inspires community, wooden shelves filled with locally made products and grown produce, and wooden ladders that add to the whole artisan café and grocer theme. If not for the sound of traffic, I would have totally forgotten that I was still in the city! Scarecrow has a handful of wholesome and healthy selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner (the menu changes daily), as well as teas and Kokako coffee to match. I tried a mixed plate of four salads ($10), and it was completely satisfying and delicious. Also, a huge thank you to the lady at the counter who recommended a pot of herbal tea ($4) - it did wonders for my sore throat! I really hope Scarecrow is here to stay because I'm totally a fan, and even better that it's located mere steps from campus. I think I'm going to 'treat' myself to a slice of vegan cheesecake on my next visit...

Great food, we've ordered Mushroom Omelette with truffle oil and poached eggs on some freshly baked whole grain bread. Very nice staff, food was quickly made as well. Everything here is made local so food is different in different seasons. They also have a little store with lots of organic food to choose from. You can ask for a free WiFi, 20mins wifi with a voucher

Our server was super sweet and attentive until we placed our orders. We never saw her again, no mention she was leaving for the day (I could see her inside on her cell phone and changed with a backpack). Our food was delivered and the other server didn't seem to notice (or care) that our water glasses were empty, as I found out that she too were on her way out of work. We didn't get water refills until the check came, in which is was a third server and then it took probably 2mins for her to run our card because she was busy setting tables and chatting with coworkers. The food here was amazing and filling- large portions, but the Mac n cheese was disappointing. I would give this 4 stars, but due to the fact that the servers are more interested in going home and chatting with coworkers than taking care of their guests (at one point we were the only table in the whole place and still couldn't get a water refill), this place is getting only 2 stars. It's got potential if it gets new staff.

We had no idea that the request would be so difficult to fill, but were quite impressed with the lengths she took to make our meal enjoyable. The rest of our meal was delicious food & great service. I read the previous reviews. I would recommend that give this place another chance.
