Had high hopes for this place given the reviews as well as the sound of the menu. I started with a scallop that was decent and an old fashioned, which in hindsight was the best part of the meal. For the main course I got a lamb dish because a) I love lamb and b) I'm in New Zealand. Unfortunately the dish was a major miss. It was cooked okay but there was little to no flavor. I asked about a red wine to pair with it and what I got was very thin and weakly flavored, which was okay because what flavor it did have was not good (earthy and metallic, but not in a good way). I finished with a scoop of ice cream, I wasn't originally planning on dessert, but honestly just wanted to get the taste of the main and the wine out of my mouth. The ice cream succeeded at that, so I guess that worked at least. The view of the harbour was really nice, but honestly I wouldn't go back, even at half the price. At this price point I was expecting much more. read more
