The place was almost full when we arrived and totally full by the time we were served. We had pretty decent coffees with palmiers which were super crispy and perfectly sweet. We actually went back for more. The cheese and ham croissant was flakey, warm with gooey Camembert and a generous amount of ham. I had the braised ox tail on custard which is served with a few slices of fresh baguette. The braised ox was gelatinous and salty, the custard smooth and creamy set into the serving bowl, on top were pickled mushrooms adding a much welcome tangy refreshing way to cut through all the other richness. I'm not usually a fan of micro greens, but these were pretty tasty fresh and added texture. DELICIOUS! I only wish the serve was larger. Will definitely return because I saw many tasty looking soups being served and want to try more.

We visited on a Sunday morning and we got super lucky as we didn't make a ressy (if you're a planner I'd def recommend making reservations, I'm just not that organized) and they had table options for us! They also have a couple of tables outside which would be nice (we considered it) but on a sunny day, you'd probably die of heat stroke out there. Anyway, I ordered a soy flat white (after talking with baristas about which kind of coffee is the best for latte art, I've discovered that you'll almost always get the best creation in a flat white) and I was super excited that they had BAGELS on the menu. I was really looking forward to a bagel with smashed avo and tomato relish, but the server told me that they were out, so I went with second best and ordered toast with smashed avo (I made this out of sides, as the bagel was the only vegan option, and that is without the cream cheese). This place is super French, and not uber vegan friendly, but you can def make a lil vegan brekky out of sides pretty easily, and that toast was seriously on point. They gave me some chewy sourdough and a half of an avo with a little serve of tomato relish and it was the best meal out of sides I've ever had. My boyfriend got the eggs florentine. Luckily I snapped a quick pic, because he devoured that in less than 60 seconds. I think he liked it :) He also got an orange juice which was amazing. When my flat white came out (it did take a while, but the wait was so worth it), THERE WAS A KITTEN MAKE OUT OF FOAM IN MY CUP. I almost jumped out of my chair with excitement, I was so happy about this. I took like 50000 photos before I took a sip, and sent the photos to everyone I know. This place is super insta-worthy, has great latte art, and really good service as well. Beef cheeks cooked for 16 hours, cheese foam with beans and sausage, tuna Tartar, and a delish cheese board to complete the meal. All courses where served with matching wines, and the service impeccable. With staff that was knowledgable about the wine and food. I will be trying to keep my ear to the ground to hear about the next event, at $75 per person they are amazing value.

The vege quiches are super yummy without the sickly over-egginess that most lunchbar quiches have. We often grab pies and savouries for a weekend treat but my very best favourite to go with my Nippy's Iced Coffee (the iced coffee again) is a filled Tuna Bun. They will even usually make you one if they have run out, which they do because the Tuna always seems to go first. Another thing that is really cool about this place is that you can buy a ready-made cake and pretend you baked it yourself. Not that I would ever do such a thing.... Chocolate Log or Banana Cake are $10 and you can even get a Cream Cheese Iced Red Velvet for $22. There are all the usual gorgeous gooey slices and treats as well as some I haven't seen anywhere else, and for my money this is the best of the basic lunchbars. Unfortunately, it wasn't very nice - not very hot, and it didn't taste very nice. Not at all like I was expecting. They did have a nice looking cake and pastry section, however, and the woman who served us was quite friendly. No coffee, though, so if you're looking for a nice flat white with your pie, you'll have to go elsewhere.
