Beer battered fish and spicy squid $26.50
    Benjamin B.

One of the great Sunday session spots of the south coast. The only problem is, not only does the entire south coast know about it, but everyone else in the country too, and many from outside of it if the Sunday I went was any indication. It don't look nothin' special from the outside, but go in, and downstairs, and emerge out onto a deck overlooking a glorious green grassy green expanse that sits atop a cliff like the Garden of Beerden and there, as far as you can see, is the Ocean, a vast blue purgatory dotted with whitecaps and far-off tankers. You feel like Bacchus looking out upon all of Creation. The food is damn good too, I went for the fish and chips and they were reamed, absolutely reamed with people on this day and the fish was still golden and fresh, the chips big and fluffy, and the salad, well, kinda scarce actually but who cares because fish and view. Just be prepared to wait on weekends because, boy howdy, you will. And then some. Give yourself, like, 5 hours. Preferably 6, to get there, wait, eat, and drive back home.

Not even half full on a Sunday morning and they are already completely overwhelmed, we stood at the bar at the entrance and now body even acknowledged us. No good morning , no menu. We thought we are maybe at the wrong bar? Only ordered a flat white in a cup, that came with white sugar. Coffee was ok. We sat on the porch that was covered and surrounded by a kind of a tent. It blew in the wind and made it very noisy, there is a heat lamp and water puddles on the floor. The view is nice, the place not worth going!

The new reno's are awesome. The outside beer garden with the most awesomesauce of views is well worth the 45 minute drive out here. It gets really really busy about lunchtime and you'll have a hard time finding a parking spot so beware if you're planning a weekend drive here for a lunch break. The food was lovely, the steak was well done and the salad was totally nom. They have a great cafe at the front of house which does warm drinks as well, and after the blustery wind this bit was a godsend as I had more hot chocolates & coffee than I did cocktails! The staff are lovely and amenities are clean. You can book the huts for birthday's etc, or there are tables scattered around the garden that you can sit at. Go check it out. You won't be disappointed.

It's all about the location and views, it is unmatched. The food is okay, just don't get the burger. I would go back, nice relaxing place.

If your passing by it's a great Pub to rest at and have a refreshing drink and bite to eat. Nothing overly special but must admit the view is a very good reason to stop and absorb ..... the back garden over looks the ocean and on a beautiful day ..... It's Priceless !!

And it should - rumour has it it's the oldest tourist hotel in Australia, continuously operating since 1878. Playing host to royalty and the wealthiest of wealthy in its former life, it's now a perfect place along your roadtrip to stop for a pint, snuggle up to an open fire and thank your lucky stars that you don't have to hop in your horse-drawn carriage to enjoy the Blue Mountains. And hey, if things at the beer garden get a bit out of hand, they still offer accommodation. Word to the wise: portions are *massive* so what you intend to be a "small nibble" of soup and salad will actually be enough to bathe in and subsequently string together Adam and Eve style.

I got lost in history and curiosity as I ventured round trying to find any sort of bistro area. I eventually did ...... it looked like an old 70's type bowling club eatery. It was good enough, just didn't fit the period of the building .... must have been the last renovation .... in the 70's. It had lots of rooms and doors leading to all sorts of nooks. There were a few people around but spread out leaving it without any real atmosphere. I would like to come back one day ..... but may leave it alittle while. We ordered Steak,Pizza and Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken had a side of hollandaise and it was disgusting. Steak came out cold and slightly over cooked, can you blame them tho? we did wait an extra 40 minutes after the pizza and chicken had came out,we had to ask someone to retrieve the steak, who knows how long it would of taken if we didn't ask. Plus the service was horrible. Meals came out 25 minutes apart minimum even tho we ordered at the same time. Staff is lovely though,We cannot remember the name of the red haired bloke who said goodbye on the way out but he is by far the nicest member of the ob. Hoping this review can help them benefit for the better. #bringbackthekingavoschnitzel

You order at one bar and then pick up your food at another. It's very DIY here, no servers. The atmosphere is very much child-friendly-pub style, with a playground and even a jump house for kids (not sure if that's always there or if we came on a good day). Lots of families were around, parents having drinks while their kids chased each other outside. The wedges we got came in a huge bowl. We got a much bigger serving than I expected, which was nice since it ended up being dinner. The service wasn't bad but it wasn't super friendly. There isn't anything terrible about this place, but there isn't anything really great about it either.
