The team there are great & welcoming & very knowledgeable about wines. If you are from the Shire join their Facebook site & it will update you on "what's on", they have interesting & informative evenings from Wine Producers with tasting nights. Great to see something innovative like this in my beloved Sutherland Shire.

The staff are knowledgeable and laid-back creating a chilled out atmosphere. The idea here is to load some cash money onto a debit card which they give to you to keep; I loaded mine up with $50 for 3 people on a lazy Saturday afternoon. There is a huge selection of wines from Chardonnay to Shiraz and many regions are on display. Grab a glass and choose your preferred wine, enter your pre-paid debit card and select whether you are after a taste, 1/2 or a full glass (prices ranging from $1.75 - $12.00 depending on size). There are also meat, cheese and snack platters on offer and we went for the big dog - $60 for meats, cheeses, unlimited bread, olives, pate, pickles and dips. The food was good though a little overpriced. We didn't end up spending all of the money on our debit card so it now acts like a gift card and can be used upon return to either sample more wines or even buy a bottle (or 2)! Great spot for a drink before a movie or an afternoon with the girls.

I was looking forward to some form of habanero or jalapeño margarita, but didn't see any. For a Mexican themed bar, I didn't see any spicy cocktails at all. So I stuck with beer in protest. The menu has potential, but I thought the food could use some fine tuning. The corn ($8) was simply burnt to get that charred Mexican-corn vibe, when it could have been caramalised first and then pushed from there. The chipotle spread on the side was fantastic. The pulled pork tacos (2 for $12) got most of their flavour from the Byron Bay hot sauces I was using, and not enough from the pork. The sauce for the chorizo & potato ($25) needed a bit more time to simmer and reduce, and again, relied way too much on the hot sauce we added for flavour. The jalapeños mentioned on the menu were undetectable. The chorizo itself was a bit bland, like the kind you'd buy at a grocery store instead of the kind you'd buy at a Spanish deli. If Frank and Blanco was in the city, I wouldn't go back. Since its now one the very few licensed restaurants on the main strip in Sutherland, and I walk by it every day after work, there's a pretty good chance I'll drop in once in awhile.

This place offers a lighter menu choices as well as the traditional Bavarian favourites. With a unique menu like build-your-own salad or wrap, as well as burgers and hot dogs will do well with people looking for a quick bite to go. We had the Whole Pork Knuckle with creamy mash, sauerkraut, bier jus and Granny Smith Apple compote. The Pork Knuckle was perfectly cooked and everything else complements it, but I can't help but wishing they put more sauerkraut and the jus. The Crackling Pork Belly with Braised Red Cabbage, Roasted Potatoes, Onion Bier Jus and Granny Smith Apple Compote was tasty. The Braised Red Cabbage was sweet and delicious, and went well with the richness of the Pork Belly. And the Crackling was perfection! Staff were friendly and keen to impress. As other Bavarian Bier Cafes, it has a huge selections of imported German Biers to top it off and cement this place as the ultimate comfort food destination.

Not too long after sitting a waitress came over and said we would have to all sit at the one table "as they had more people coming in with reservations". Never mind the fact that the table was reserved for us and we had literally just sat down. After sorting out this issue we noticed a pigeon flying about that repeatedly landed on a tv above our tables. We asked the staff if they would be able to shoo it away and they told us that "it lived there". A friend of mine stated that this is a restaurant and having flying rats that just live in your establishment is not acceptable. While above us it relieved itself on our table multiple times and also into an almost full Stein of beer ($22.00 beer at that). Staff said they would replace the beer but never did. Our last issue arose when I went to the bathroom quickly and a staff member (without asking anyone at our table) started cleaning my half eaten dinner. He collected all the cutlery and dirty napkins (most of which had been used to clean pigeon poo) and put it all on top of my food. A friend said to the staff member that I was not in fact finished, the staff member then continued to unpack the plate again as if I was going to be fine with him touching my food during covid and stacking pigeon soiled napkins and used cutlery on top. In disbelief my friend told the waiter that I would no longer want it. After all this, no effort was made by staff members to apologise and no refunds, discounts or replacements for food and drink ruined due to negligence. All in all food and beer was good but that was about it. Service was terrible and I honestly feel ripped off after the night was over. Staff need a lot of work on communication skills and the owner needs to invest in some pigeon spikes.

The Bavarian Miranda - Beer barrel chandelier - why not? Helps create the nice beer hall motif. Plenty of large flat TV screens to keep up with major events.

They only open thursdsy through to Sunday from 5pm - 10pm, pretty decent hours for a late night appetizer :D!! The menu is at the front of the shop making it nice and easy to see what's on offer :). They had the Philly cheese steak rolls, loaded Hot dogs, loaded and plain fries and deep fried oreos :) I opted for the mushroom Philly cheese steak, love mushrooms haha!! Also got the the Philly hot dog which was a schnitzel crumbed Vienna hot dog and then deep fried .. :D, got chips and a drink with the deep fried oreos as a no brainer to order haha !! 2 mates both got the Philly cheese steak roll meal aswell & an NY Hot dog with a serving of deep fried oreos each aswell :). It was a cool lay out with libe American football on the TV to the left of the counter, 2 wooden bench table for seating, a small table ro the right of the counter with sauces/pickles to add on and a drum fire in the centre to warm up :), slightly 10 times better than those crappy tall gas heaters you see at all the restaurants everywhere these days haha The Cheese steak rolls were big and cheesy and on the tasty side .. wasn't on the hard side to scoff it down before you thought about taking it slow haha.. the hot dogs were on the average side but still not bad tasting but if i went back i would just stick to the Philly cheese steaks :)!! Last but not least the deep fried oreos, they weren't ready when we got our meals handed to us but they were conveniently ready when we had finished eating so it was perfect timing :). Is what a perfect amount of Batter on the oreos and it xame with oreo ice cream aswell :). My highlight of ths night was definitely the Oreos :D!! This place definitely kicks the butts of the majority of try hard Ameican places that have opened up in the city. The quality for the city places gets lost in trying to be the best when this place has a basic menu, the food qaulity is on point and for it being in a semi industrial area with the exception of a cafe and Italian restaurant beside it, it still got younger and older crowds, also a few families coming past for the cookies :D Also the people who were working there were super friendly and helpful :D!!
