Soundspace is an interesting concept. Think of it as a coworking space for musicians. Housed at the…read moreCircle City Industrial Complex (next to Centerpoint Brewing), Soundspace provides an outlet for aspiring musicians to hone their skills and connect with the local music community. The location itself has rehearsal spaces and recording studios available for use by members. Through open houses and mixer events, Soundspace strives to create connections for musicial collaboration and learning experiences. From what I understand, Soundspace uses a subscription model to provide services to its members. You can join as a monthly user to connect with others through exclusive events. If you need rehearsal or recording studio time, you can book time at the space for your practice and mixing needs. I am glad to see to see an unique venture like Soundspace here in Indy. In addition, there are plans to expand into a much bigger venue on the south end of the building. Hopefully through these efforts we can continue to expand the music scene in the city.

Get yourself and all your relatives enrolled at this place. Adults or kids- doesn't matter. You won't regret it! The staff is tons of fun and really know their stuff. The Rock Band program is awesome and a genius way to keep kids learning and growing. If you're not sure about it, just go to a performance; you will see these kids transform. The confidence these guys inspire in their students is amazing, and anyone who has had to get on stage and perform can recognize the enormity of that feat. The kids also get some bonus lessons in accountability and responsibility to each other and the band, plus relationships that could forge the next Top 100 band. Add to that they are very professional, reliable, and reasonably priced- a trifecta you don't usually find in the musician crowd- there's really no excuse for you not enrolling here right now. I am an adult student myself; a hobbyist in recording looking to fill in some of the foundational gaps. Co-owner Ryan has generously let me set my own curriculum; bring in my own mixes and work on whatever issue I am encountering that week. My mixes are sounding 100% better and I have learned all kinds of tricks I would have never found in the books or online tutorials. They have all kinds of top-tier gear in there and the know-how to use it; everything I have heard tracked or mixed in their studio has sounded super clean and ready for some professional mastering. This place is the real deal and has something for everyone- I can't say enough nice things about it. Give them a call and chat with one of the owners on the phone. I turned my Marshall TSL up to 10 one night and literally burned it up (dimmed all the lights in the house, heard a pop, no sound, then smelled smoke). He had to clean up the board inside due to carbon deposits, replaced a power transformer, soldered in a number of capacitors, etc. and re-tubed it. He charged me about the same as if I bought the parts and did it myself. He fixed a couple of Vox Tonelab effects pedals for me. The last repair (12/2025) was on my Marshall JVM 410H that had a lot of noise. The tubes were fine, so he had to go over every component, every circuit, to eventually find it to be a $3 capacitor. What he charged me was way under what his time was worth, it plays beautifully now. He even texted me this morning to make sure the amp played well last night. Kevin doesn't just fix the problem, he goes over the entire amp, cleans all the electronics, even wraps up the freeking cord like it came new. I won't take my amps anywhere else.

There are plenty of paid parking lots and street parking available around the area. Keep in mind that street parking is free on Sundays. Communication is outstanding, with reminder e-mails, detailed maps on how to find the studio, where to park and after your class instrutions on applying the grout. But let's get to the classes. Currently this location "only" offers Turkish Mosaic Lamp workshops. However, you can choose your type of lamp, or just a globe or candleholder. Entirely up to you and your budget. It is not cheap, but neither are the materials needed. You will be seated at a tablel with seemingly endless mosaic glass options in so many great colors, it's going to be tough to choose a color combination. There are a few suggestions on their website as far as color combinations go. And of course you will need to decide what type of pattern you will be creating. Another tough decision. You will get a two-sided sheet with various patterns you could follow, or you can feel free to create your own. Our instructor was Kurt, a most patient man, as I dragged about a dozen of folks with me as usual and there were a couple of other folks besides our group and with that every last seat was taken. He answered question after question and refilled bead and glass shapes continuously. Showed us how to glue things in place, made suggestions, helped here and there with project gone awry and somehow still managed to share a bit about his home country of Turkey. There are little lit platforms where you can check what your lamp will look like when completed, and also an actual lamp you can hold your masterpiece to and get a better idea. Once you are done with your pattern, you get to create your own mix of tiny glass beads and apply those in all the 'free' spaces. then you are done with studio time. You are given grout and instructed on how to apply this once your project has reasted at least 12 hours. (you will also get an e-mail the next day, reminding you and a link for the instructions again). You will also get your lamp part , if you chose to make a lamp, and the bulb to go with it. All is neatly in a nice sturdy bag so you can add your globe and your grout to it also and have it all together in one place. Highly recommend this experience and I am hoping that they will add some of the different workshops that are offered at other locations. Fingers crossed.
