SC Companies did work at my house in response to a claim that I made with the builder (Lennar). At the time the original work was completed by this company I gave them an outstanding review on 1/10/15. The observations I made in this review were true with the information available to me at the time, however, some of the statements I made were a result of me taking these seemingly knowledgeable employees at their word. In retrospect, this was a grave error.
The work SC was hired to do was to locate a water leak from the exterior of the home and fix the damage that had occurred. During the initial consultation I directed the employees to what I thought was the source of the leak where the roof of a sun room connected to the siding on the main residence. This was quickly dismissed as the source of the leak by them. They later stated that they had determined the leak was originating from an area around a window. They seemed to know what they were doing so I took them at their word. This repair work was completed and at the time I was happy with the work. Due to the fact that the area where the water was leaking into the home was not highly visible it was not until just recently that we again noticed the same damage reoccurring. Based on the extent of the damage it is clear that the water had again been entering the home for some time.
Another company was brought out to identify the leak and within 15 minutes the worker was able to determine that the exact area where I had originally identified as the possible leak was in fact where the issue was. After a 30 minute quick fix the leak has been resolved leaving behind significant water damage. I made contact with SC Companies who quickly dismissed any responsibility stating they were limited in their scope of work by the builder. They also added that it could have possibly been related to other leaks that had appeared since they had done their work. In this case, I will defer to the facts. There was a leak in the exact same place before and after they did what they called work that was performed well. After realizing they were not going to take any responsibility for their workmanship, I offered them several opportunities to come inspect the damage in the event they encountered a similar issue in the future. They had no interest in the offer and ultimately stopped responding to my emails.
My perception of a quality company may be a bit antiquated, but I would assume that any company who wanted to serve their customers with the best quality product would have jumped at this opportunity to learn from a trained professional who was able to fix a leak that they could not. This company may be good at cleaning carpet, but after my experience I would not trust them with work much more technical beyond that. read more
