I can not afford the yearly NEM charges that is tacked on my bill of $1400.00 to pay all at once so I have been on a payment plan with PG&E for over a year now . I live off of my social security and my deceased husband's retirement . They are automatically taking $350 a month from my checking account and on top of this I have an outstanding bill with PG&E in the amount of $1600 now. Comes to find out this is a yearly charge . After almost paying off the first year of NEM charges here comes PG&E slapping on another $1400 . I am on a payment arrangement paying $200 a month + this solar company gets $350 a month . I took my time researching, reading reviews, evaluating customer service, and even checking the Better Business Bureau. After all of that, I narrowed it down to two companies, Nova Energy and another local company in Fresno.Ultimately, I chose the other company because they hold a roofing license as well. This was very important to me due to a previous bad experience with SolarCity damaging my roof and not fixing it. I ended up fixing it out of pocket. That being said, Nova Energy truly stood out. Justin took the time to thoroughly educate me and presented a very well-designed system tailored to my needs. Honestly, I would have gone with them if it weren't for my prior experience and specific concerns. What impressed me most is that they genuinely care about their customers. Even knowing I was comparing multiple companies, they were patient, transparent, and focused on making sure I understood exactly what I needed for my home. Even after I told Justin I had decided to go with another company, he still took the time to make sure I was fully informed. He reviewed key details with me such as solar panel quality, system performance stats, degradation rates, and the difference between kW and kWh, just to ensure I was making the best decision for my home. That level of professionalism and integrity really stood out. In today's world, many companies treat business as just a transaction, sell a product and move on. Nova Energy is different. They take the time to understand your needs, educate you, and guide you without pressure. Their approach is honest, professional, and customer centered. Their pricing is very competitive, and they don't try to oversell. Instead, they explain your actual energy usage and make sure you don't overproduce unnecessarily. That level of integrity is rare. They also have excellent reviews, offer a strong 25-year roof warranty, and clearly stand behind their work. Even though they didn't end up installing my system, I believe my hesitation around roofing, despite them having a 25 roofing policy, was more related to my previous negative experience and my need for extra reassurance. If anything, if you are in the market for a solar system, I strongly recommend giving Justin a call. He is honest in his evaluation, does not try to oversell, and takes the time to answer every question you may have.

So about a year later I had them do my second house which was a huge job. 7.5kwh system with two big sunny island off grid inverters, 7kw battery banks and a 13.5 kWh generator. To start out they put the entire solar array 180 degrees backwards, and mounted the inverter in the wrong spot, so they had to come back and take it all off and do it over. Then instead of running all the grey electric pipes where you couldn't see them they literally ran it across the front of the house... it looked horrid! So they had to come back and fix that. To make matters worse, the two sunny island off grid inverters, batteries and generator cost over $20,000 and I paid Dean in October 2016, it's now July 2017. I have been waiting 10 months for the other half of my system! It started out with he didn't have time and he kept canceling install dates, and finally after months of calling he finally told me he didn't have the money and he never had them that whole time and was just leading me on. Finally he sent me an invoice showing he paid for them and they were on the way after 5 months of waiting, well I waited another month and was hounding him. Then it turns out he made a fake invoice to make me think he had them... turns out he still never did! His latest last four excuses were he was on his way and his van broke down... what a surprise. Now he's blocked me on his cell phone so I can't get a hold of him directly, and after 10 months of waiting I'm still out $20,000 worth of equipment. I called today and told his secretary I'm done and I'm coming for my money next week, if he doesn't have it Dean is getting a law suit. Absolutely horrible experience. Iv spent hours of frustration and Iv made literally hundreds...HUNDREDS OF PHONE CALLS, most of which were blocked or not answered. His solar buisiness is financially falling apart and won't be around much longer. NEVER USE THIS INSTALLER. I cannot stress this enough.
