My garage was damaged the morning of my garbage disposal day 3 of there trucks made pickups that morning. When I called to report the damage, there were multiple emails between SBC and myself. The first truck which was equipped with a camera, which stopped working 3 houses away showed nothing. The last truck by did show the damage. I think my garage was damaged by one of the first 2. SBC denied access to the first 2 video feeds and denied my claim that there truck was at fault. This company is not a honest company. read more

New company here in Park Ridge. IL. Didn't deliver receptacles to me and everyone else on my block. All areas West of me have their receptacles. Called and was promised by this afternoon. Still no receptacles as of 5pm. Two days of garbage piling up. Called at 4pm again and couldn't get through the call center No supervisor, no phone number for operations. No one to escalate too. Do not be misled by their marketing. SBC Waste Solutions promotes itself as woman-owned, green, environmentally friendly, and a small business. That was not our experience at all. This company is, in our opinion, predatory. We were quoted $75 per month for a small 100-gallon trash tote. What was never clearly disclosed was that the base rate meant almost nothing. Once fees were added, our actual cost ballooned to $170+ per month. Over 11 months, we paid $3,515.37 total, which averages $319.58 per month -- more than 4× the original quote. We were effectively forced into using SBC because the building we occupied initially required all tenants to use their waste provider. That lack of choice mattered. Fees & Contract Issues * The contract includes dozens of fees buried in extremely small print (literally tiny font). * These fees increased the bill by 200%+ compared to the quoted monthly rate. * None of these fees were verbally disclosed during signup. * When confronted, management's response was simply: "You signed the contract." * After months of emails and threats of litigation, they eventually reduced some fees -- clearly indicating they knew the charges were excessive. Customer Service (or lack thereof) There is no real customer service. Every interaction routes through what they openly call "Admin & Legal." That should tell you everything. This company operates more like a law firm disguised as a waste company: * Constant legal language * Aggressive scare tactics * "Pay within X days or we pursue litigation" * Minimum $6,000 buyout to exit a 5-year contract What started as $75/month quickly turned into: * Stay trapped for 5 years, or * Pay $6,000+, or * Be threatened with court Other Red Flags * 6% credit card processing fee (industry standard is ~3%) * Employees were initially rude and difficult to communicate with; later responses appeared AI-translated and extremely cold * Any request for help is met with "refer to the contract" * They aggressively target small businesses, knowing most cannot afford legal counsel to fight a $5-6k dispute * They claim 5-year contracts are "industry standard" -- they are not Advice to Other Small Businesses * Do not sign without having the contract reviewed (use AI or an attorney). * Ask for the true all-in monthly cost, not just the base rate. * Fight for 1-2 year contracts only. * Do not assume "small business" marketing equals ethical behavior. * Check Yelp and BBB reviews -- nearly all complaints describe the same experience. * If threatened, stay calm and file a BBB complaint. This was, without question, the worst business experience we've ever had -- all over trash service. Completely unnecessary, stressful, and avoidable. Do your research. I would like to start by saying how unprofessional and non-customer service related SBS Waste Solution was during my recent transaction. Jan 22- I purchased a roll off dumpster rental (which ironically also came with some convenience fee of $30). Jan 22 - 2min after credit card approval, I received an email stating to confirm a $125 delivery fee. I had no idea about this fee but I NEVER had to pay an itemized fee for delivery to drop off and pick up of ANY dumpster. Jan 22 - The dumpster was delivered later this evening and I was told the following: 1. The door is frozen so you cannot enter the dumpster. 2. There is garbage frozen to the bottom of the dumpster and we cannot remove it. But not to worry, as we will receive a credit for the additional garbage in the dumpster when it's time to weigh. We all know how this as going to end. Jan 23 - I contacted SBC regarding the dumpster and was told Hello this debris is frozen due to the extremely cold temperatures. We can have it exchanged tomorrow for an empty one. A dumpster exchange never happened! There was also no additional communication to help us rectify the issue. Jan 29 - the dumpster was removed. Feb 2 - I received an invoice for $1,061.15 with a $285 removal fee! SBC never explained all these small charges and specially left them out to make their rental seem affordable. They knew about the inconvenience and the garbage left due to the weather yet not only did I NEVER receive any compensation for the rental, I paid full price plus additional weigh costs. I should have been allowed to see the weigh station since I had to take on a dumpster with someone else's junk! For SBC to be a major waste company in my area, the way I was treated shows the lack of customer service and unprofessionalism on how this entire process was handled. I have SBC as my weekly garbage pickup at 2 of my current properties. We are figuring out other options! read more

We were moving and knew we would have a lot of garbage so asked for an extra pick up and the lady I talked to on the phone was so dumb, I do not think she had graduated third grade. She did not know how to get that scheduled and said someone will call us back, nobody ever did and then we got a blight ticket for all the garbage out there. Wonderful service! They were prompt in providing service and had quality customer service.

SBC is a money saver for me, and they have gotten me out of bad garbage contracts with the "big garbage" companies every time! I couldn't be happier. I am a real estate portfolio manager and currently have 13 properties with SBC, and will be adding more when my other contracts expire, or SBC can otherwise leverage a buyout with my other garbage service providers. Fair disclosure: my sales rep Chris "OT" asked me to write this review. Normally I wont do that, but then I saw these other reviews, OMG! How can one persons experience be so different than another? Anyways, SBC has been very good to my accounts, and I consider them an asset just like my properties- if you take care of them, they increase in value. I never pay late, or have the conflicts that I see other reviewers having here. As for problems, there were a couple of misunderstanfings at first, like fees, or "prorated" billing, but I had that with other companies too, just much worse. Its part of the garbage industry. Another time there was a misunderstanding about snow plowing, but it is a property with a "bad alley" which the city didnt plow. Not too unusual though, just inconvenient, and SBC waived the extra fees afterwards. read more

Predatory company, in my experience. As in other reviews, they raise their prices immediately, never mention a 5 year automatic renewal or a termination fee equal to nine month's service (plus other fees) or that termination must be declared 90 days in advance. When trying to contact them about a dispute they play games, redirecting to multiple people who "don't handle this," telling you they'll call back within three days only to later say they don't call at all because they email (we had to ask twice for the email, they didn't send it the first time), and finally being snarky and unhelpful. Original contract was $275, six months later I was at $585 with random charges that took me over $600. When questioned, SBC said they have the right, by contract, to raise prices. When it comes to their pick up service and pricing they are very reasonable! In fact we never had an issue with their services until we spoke to upper "management" or better yet "owners". This company is owned by the Flood Brothers and they will keep saying that there isn't any affiliation but clearly all of "upper management" is Flood. In addition when i use to work with another property management company i had many not so pleasant interaction with The Flood brothers so obviously it's a lie that they are not affiliated. Reason for my review: you are in a customer service based industry and even though their office staff is very polite, the actual Floods or upper management have bad manners. To communicate with paying customers in a dismissive, borderline disrespectful and unprofessional manner is beyond me. If we weren't locked into a 5 YEAR contract I'd cancel immediately based on that one most recent interaction. Asking important questions regarding services, contracts, pricing etc. should not result in dismissive and demeaning behavior. This company customer service sucks. I called a few hours prior to the drop off of the dumpster. I informed them I no longer needed it & I wanted to cancel. They were more worried about me paying a $250.00 cancelation fee. The guy delivered the dumpster after the the delivery window in which they had ample time to inform him not to come. Once again I told them I no longer needed it they tried to get me to postpone the delivery for a later date. The guy even admitted they customer service suck cuz they suppose to look out for the customer. Now I have an empty dumpster sitting by my house that's not gonna be used. Our condo association moved to SBC after service issues with a different company, and I cannot be more impressed! Christopher was extremely responsive and came out to meet with me and discuss options. He helped us with canceling the existing service, gave great advice on adjusting our pick up frequency, and everything has been on time and the service level is amazing - plus it's a much more competitive price than we were paying. During the lockdown our units have been receiving more deliveries than usual and we had a lot of cardboard stacked up. SBC took it all in one go, and the guys on our route could not have been more helpful, friendly, and efficient. I cannot recommend this company highly enough! read more

SBC Waste Solutions business plan is to quote a low price and to get your business, and then quickly over time raise their prices and point toward their contract that they have the right to raise their prices over the contract's life. I have a weekly container pick up and it started at $88 per month and it's now $153. They add fees like "processing fee" "fuel surcharge " "environmental surcharge " "container service fee" . All creep up quickly and their response is that's how this business works or pay over $1000 and they will release you from their contract . Unscrupulous bandits in my opinion. If I could give them no stars I would. Terrible customer service and overall trash service. I hired them for two of my businesses. One of my businesses has been waiting for trash pick up since mid0-December. I have called three days in a row and was promised a call back. No one ever called back. I was told a certain person would call me back and when I called on day 4 they magically picked up the phone and told me they have been too busy. When I asked why I am still being billed and no trash has been picked up they said the third party contractor they use to service my boutique stopped service. When I asked why no one called me they proceeded to tell me they would have had no idea service stopped if I had not called. SBC then told me there was no one who really oversees the accounts. WHAT?!?! When I asked to cancel my service at my other location due to my dissatisfaction she told me there is normally a 5 year contract and I should go back and read it. When I initially called absolutely no one told me this was a stipulation. So far this new Garbage company gets 1 star- they lack awareness of the additional messes caused by rain which would lead to additional garbage. I had the garbage out ready for pickup in hearty bags with the previous company stickers (I was told they would honor) and they drove by leaving the garbage to the elements. Previously I saw they allowed garbage to remain on the lawn and not pick up after things fell out of the container. So far I give them a negative. Our business was looking to change our service with them because we closed our physical location and they were absolutely horrible. One of the owners, Eric Flood, came out to our location, insulted and accused a manager of being a liar and then no longer continued communication with us to find a resolution. So we tried to contact the company to pursue our options once again. We called and asked to speak with Eric's supervisor, instead we were sent a threatening letter by their legal department. Apparently Eric's boss didn't want to talk to us. They have no interest in helping anyone, or maintaining a positive relationship with long term customers. It's difficult to dishonestly report one star due to tech contraints, because this is a 0 star company. Service 0 stars, competence 0 stars, customer service 0 stars, and ethics 0 stars. We are also a small condo association who has been targeted by SBC with a preditory contract (their words, mind you!), and now we are being deceived and squeezed as we try to terminate our agreement per the Term clause inour agreement. Our rep is unable or unwilling to understand the terms of our contract and misunderstanding or lying about the fine print. We will file a BBB complaint also, but as community service I wanted to put this out there so other HOAs don't fall victim too: A short list of violations we have incurred: -immediately, SBC double charged us for the first several months, we had to cancel our auto-pay because of this mess. -throughout the life of service, SBC has skipped our pickup day, changed our pickup day in a given week with no notice or comms -last year the pickups broke our bins twice (and we had to pay to replace one, were able to complain and replace the first free of charge) -our base rate has increased almost 200% in the first 2+ years of our contract -when following the directions for early term our rep has been deceitful or incompetent in understanding the terms of our agreement -SBC has offered the reason to stay in our agreement because other companies will have a similarly preditory agreement, that's how the industry works...We're willing to find out, I don't want to support a business that knows they are abusing their customers and acting unethically in bad faith. read more

Ordered a dumpster from SBC since they are so close to Westchester and I thought it would be great to buy local and they are listed as a registered contractor on the Westchester website. When I called to get the permit, I was told that SBC did not have current bond paperwork and Westchester could not issue a permit until they had the current info. Reached out to SBC and after a couple of calls I was told that it was SBC's understanding that a permit was not require they would not update their bond info with Westchester. Note Westchester permit form for dumpsters clearly requires a permit for private property AND requires that contractors have a current registration with the village which includes bond info. Perhaps others in Westchester will have better luck with SBC. read more

TERRIBLE COMPANY!!! If you see Eric Flood on your driveway, kick him out of the yard, he is scam person!!! He will say you that you can broke current contract with garbage company with no fee and they will take care of everything, but later you will have dumpsters from 2 companies and they will push you to pay for their service also.
