Sazio's is a very dependable, classy restaurant located in this London commuter town near St Albans. Italian in style, as the name belies, the food is always fresh and well cooked, and never anything short of very good. It won't blow your socks off, but you can eat at Sazio's time and again without disappointment.
Between 12 and 5 every day of the week, there is a £5.99 All You Can Eat menu, which seems a tad out of place for this rather couth restaurant. But they manage to pull it off without lowering the tone, and all the food on the cheapy menu is quite good.
The main meals, of which I've tried about half a dozen, are all very good, Italian-British fusion, and the pizzas are all excellent.
They are always willing to do a special little dish for our son, as they don't have an official children's menu.
The wine offerings at Sazio's are nothing short of excellent -- all picked with care, and the descriptions truly match the experience.
Unless you go between 12 and 5, Sazio's isn't a cheap eat, but if you can afford to live or eat out in Harpenden, you won't be shocked at the prices.
Every time we've been there, the service has been very attentive, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the last time we went there, we had a young Polish girl that was extremely dismissive and looked put out every time we asked her for anything. We waited for over 25 minutes for our food to arrive, and weren't offered an apology.
This kind of service was very surprising for Sazio's, who normally offer great service, so hopefully that was a one-off. read more
