An unexpected phenomenal gem! The pad kee mao noodles with chicken were AMAZING. They put a few pieces of tomato into it which I like and very few other thai places do this. Compared to Nona lisas, the Pepper, Texas Roadhouse, Applebees- packed, waiting to even be acknowledged or waiting hours for a table- Sawatdee is the perfect place for date nights and hanging out with friends. Each and every time we go to this place, we leave with full bellies and a desire to return. The food is always hot, fresh and plentiful. The room is rarely showing an empty table and for good reason. They have also branched out to bottle their stir-fry sauce, which allows you to make some fresh stir-fry's at home or gift it to a friend that enjoys to cook. The room is bright, often full of chatter but because they are working so hard in the kitchen, the heat in the dining room may be a little chilly for some- but bring a sweater or better yet - order the curry (that'll warm you up)! For my entree I got the Green Curry with chicken. For me it was slightly above average but still good. It was very nice that the restaurant cut up fresh green chilis for me to spice it up. First time at Thai place (and I've eaten a lot of Thai) where I was offered this courtesy. If I am back in the area I would not hesitate to eat here again. read more

I really enjoyed this as it was not a fast food chain. I wanted some Asian food and this hit the spot. It's next to Key Bank as the GPS routes us to the shopping center. We came on Juneteenth before crossing the border on the way to Quebec City. We ordered the lunch menu items, pad see yew with beef, fried vegetables with chicken, and red curry with tofu. Only the last one was the combo. So the others are supposed to be in a bigger portion. The pad see yew is too sweet but well stir fried. The coconut soup of the lunch combo and the red curry are too watery. Restaurant is packed when we left. This caters to a more non spicy American taste. read more

I read the reviews and was cautious. I went here and ordered the Tom Yum soup and the special red curry with Mango. This place is not fancy and does most of it's business as take out so don't expect mood lighting and fine china. What you will get is good service, good price and ABSOLUTELY spot on food. OMG. This has to be the worst Thai Restaurant I have ever been to. My wife and was driving from Montreal to NYC during Memorial Day weekend and after a long wait at the border, we were super hungry and decided to stop by Plattsburg. This restaurant had a good rating so we tried it. We ordered Tom Kha Gai and Tom Yum Gai. Tom Yum soup had to be worst soup ever. Even if we buy a ready made Tom Yum spices and just boiled it, it would have tasted better. Tom Yum soup is supposed to be the signature Thai appetiser and we could not understand how a Thai chef could horribly screw that dish. We ordered Mango fried rice with beef and pad thai. Went here for the first time last night. I've been to the sister restaurant on Bridge street before and it's decent. I was told about the new location by our bed and breakfast hosts and figured we'd give it a try. They just opened in September, so they're very new. Was VERY happy with last night's meal. First - the place is small - about 8 tables. It looks like it was formerly a Chinese take out place in a tiny strip mall - but I found out that it's actually formerly a pizza joint. There were 2 young girls managing the front; one clearly did some of the cooking as well since she came out and asked us how "her" Pho was. Both were very friendly and helpful. The Pho and green curry were both steaming hot - the way food should be when it's served. No lukewarm broths here - this stuff was scalding "burn your tongue off hot" - perfect. The green curry came really close to one of the best green curries that I had in Thailand last year. Once it cooled down enough, I was slurping it like soup. I have no shame. The portions are very generous and the prices are very reasonable. We also had an appetizer of dim sum (steamed with chicken and shrimp - very good) - and the bill was only $27 for the two of us. I like the fact that they have Thai and Vietnamese options; I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. Pretty sure they don't have their liquor license; not sure if they will. They do lots of take out and delivery. There is limited parking up front but we noticed a lot in the back as well. read more

Very friendly staff, great service, and the flavor of the food (had the Bankok Tom Yum) was exquisite. However, the flavor was strong and got to be overwhelming due to the EXTREMELY large portion. I would have been happy to pay the same amount for a smaller bowl (thats how good it was). I even conveyed this to the husband of the owner on my second visit but he said his wife is concerned that people wont come back if they aren't given enough food. Will go back and try other menu items and probably ask for a half portion lol! read more

Very casual ambiance but clean and cheerful. The staff are friendly and prompt but did nothing to explain specials or the lunch deals. The food was ok and had some good flavor but I do not think it was great value for money. The alternatives in Burlington offer a better value for money with much more meat in the pho and the extras like bean sprouts.you also had to pay for tea. Came with a group of 7 on a Friday for dinner. The waitress was quick to put together two tables for our larger group and was quick to fill our water glasses and take our orders. Appetizers were a bit disappointing; the chicken satay was surprisingly tough and accompanied by a peanut sauce that seemed to be unadulterated Skippy peanut butter. Tom yum soup was almost inedible. It was as if the kitchen staff went out of their way to find the most frozen vegetables and shrimp available. For entrees we ordered the cashew chicken, pad thai with pork, drunken noodles with beef, and roman basil noodles with chicken. Everything was edible with the exception of the pad Thai, which tasted like something had died in it. Needless to say, we did not stay for dessert. The service was decent, the ambiance was decent. Chicken Kua Gai, Pong Garee,& the Massamun Curry. The sauces are delicious and the portions are very hearty. The Tom Yum, WonTon, and Dumpling soups are fantastic as well. My ten year old loves the Dim Sum, Chicken Satay and of course a Thai Iced Tea. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. For some reason, I was initially skeptical of a Thai restaurant where the server was a blond woman in a pink Chinese top. For some reason. But then the food came, quickly and piping hot, and it was a hit for all four of us. No, Jeff's pho wasn't the most richly flavored, but it did have plenty of crunchy sprouts and thai basil leaves. My pad woon sen was slippery and full of vegetables, just as it had been in my dreams. My biggest gripe was that the papaya salad had no heat whatsoever. Mild as a daisy. I used to love this place, especially the downtown location, i lived nearby and this restaurant was a go-to. I went to the uptown location when it opened and it was pretty good, especially for the price. However, the last few times I had food from here, I've been disappointed. The first occasion I ordered pho to dine in the store and the noodles were all clumped together, suggesting that they were made at an earlier time and added to the meal. I was a little disappointed but decided to try again. I ordered pong garee (spelling?) the second time and the onions in the dish were undercooked and potent (I ate in store at 1pm, relatively close to the lunch rush). I love veggies and generally like crunchy vegetables, but the veggies in this dish are not supposed to be raw. I was the only patron in the shop and my waiter was curt and just put things (food, beverage, bill and receipt) on the table and walked away. I don't expect some lavish conversation, but I would have appreciated the customary "how was your meal?" Today I decided to try one last time and ordered the pad thai, and there was a two inch strip of plastic in it. I really loved this place and was hoping it just happened to be a few times that were subpar but, I'm feeling that this is the new norm. read more

Sawatdee needs to decide what it wants to be. The downtown restaurant has always been mediocre Thai food that never offered the spice range that a good Thai restaurant would. Then they decided to open this place and get into the Vietnamese food market. They do an even worse job of that. The tom yum and the pho are watery with no depth of flavor. The pad Thai is bland and dry. Thai food should be a blend of salty, sweet, spicy, and sour. Every dish that I have tried at this or the downtown location has lacked this balance. Far too often the dishes are too sweet with little spice or sour notes. If you want decent Thai food go to The Thai House in St. Albans, VT. If you want good Vietnamese food try Pho Dang in Essex Junction, VT. If you are in Albany, NY try Pho Yum for their banh mi sandwich. Their pho is not bad either. read more

A couple of problems: 1.) Their phone only works on occasion (the last 3 times didn't work) so you're forced to come to the store and order in person which is inconvenient and a waste of time. 2.) My last visit I came and ordered in person- because of their phone- they charged me for a crab Rangoon that I never even received. We called once we got home once we noticed, but their phone still wasn't working and I was not going to drive 15mins back into town. We go there very often so we decided this can probably be resolved another day. 3.) I call today (surprisingly the phone works this time) after the incident to do my regular order but I asked to be reimbursed for the crab Rangoon since I paid for one last time and never received it. I'm passed around on the phone by 4 different employees to get this sorted out, all the while doing everything they can to act like they're not in the wrong and acting like IM the thief and cheating them out of $5. After a 20 minute debacle, we finally get things squared away and I showed up 15 minutes later (the time they told me) to pick up my food. They were late by 10 minutes. And then some lady came out of the kitchen in a condescending tone telling me "oh so you're so-and-so? Good. Make sure this time to check your food before you leave." And then quickly ran back to the kitchen before waiting for my response. At this point I'm beyond pissed- they fucked up and won't own up to it and then they try and shame me in front of everyone in the store?! I said "oh don't worry, I'll never forget that it's essential to check my food before leaving here ever again". The attitude is horrible here, the service sucks, the food is not worth the overall experience. read more

Hands down some of the best Vietnamese food I've had. Ive traveled the country for work and i try to hit up all the Vietnamese places i can find. And Sawatdee is one of the better ones. And its the only place with in 200 miles from my home town. Great and friendly customer service. Ive only had a few items on their menu but I'm sure no matter what you order it will be good. You get your food pretty quick and they place is really clean. If you love Vietnamese them this place is for you!! read more
