Women's Skills Mountain Bike Clinic: My friend and I both…read moreparticipated in the beginner women's clinic this weekend and loved it. She was a very beginner with no experience on a mountain bike, and I already two seasons of riding in out West. We both equally benefited from the course; she was able to develop a solid foundation of skills, and I was able to correct some of the bad habits I developed being self-taught. Nobody should be intimidated by the course, as the first half of the class was off the trail going over the very basics. The second half of the class was the group ride through some of the "green and blue" single track trails at Trapps all together with a leader and a sweeper. In just four hours I felt so much more comfortable with my riding and gained a better trust in what my bike is capable of. To top it off, we had an amazing group of women in our class. Our Instructors Shelly and Shannon were amazing and made everyone feel comfortable and they made sure we all had fun.

City tours called us and warned us of the problem and delay which was fine, as we were being picked up at our hotel. They resolved the problem quickly and our guide was there and ready to go within 15 minutes of the originally scheduled time. Our guide Lauren was fantastic! She handled the mishap with grace and without skipping a beat. City tours had to have Ubers take us from brewery to brewery which worked out perfectly fine in the end. On to the tour itself, we were a smaller group, which I loved! We stopped at 4 locations and we sampled A LOT of beer. (I don't understand the reviews saying you barely get 3 drinks because by the end of it my husband and I could barely drink the last beers) We got behind the scenes tours at 2 of the breweries. Goodwater was my personal favorite. Lauren gave us a phenomenal history lesson along the way, which I fully nerded out to. All in all, it was a really fun experience that both, my husband and I, would recommend trying!

Unethical pricing and lack of transparency…read more I had contacted Neil's Wheels for a ride to the airport and was told he would connect me to a driver who would give me a private ride to the airport for $110. (I explicitly asked if there would be a discount if I shared with another person as I was riding solo.) Joy quoted me $110 for a 1 person ride. A few minutes before picking me up, she told me the ride would be shared. I asked if there would be a discount given that I was told by Neil who connected us that my ride would be private. Joy then attempted to gaslight me into saying she gave me a below market price by charging me $110 for one seat in a shared ride. That made zero sense bc my ride to Stowe was $120 for a private ride and other companies had quoted me $110 for a private ride. I then had to spend my remaining vacation time picking up other people and listening to Joy chitchat with the other riders for the entirety of what I thought would be a quiet private ride. The ethical price per person for a shared ride would be $60-70 as is done in cabs to EWR in NYC that are $125 for a private ride. Really disappointed that Stowe businesses would try to scam tourists like this. Furthermore, during the ride, a woman called asking if Joy had a car for her mom as the woman had confirmed via text. I saw on the screen that the woman actually had texted Joy back and Joy failed to follow up. Joy hung up on the woman.

What a great experience yesterday - Matt was our guide - this was my FIRST Fly fishing experience…read moreever- so my friend and I were HOPING to catch 6-10 fish total. Due to rain Matt suggested we lake fish from a boat as the rivers were too high and muddy- He knows what he's talking about -I caught 11 before lunch! In total My friend and I figure we caught at least 30-35 fish on the day (we lost track as we were catching so many- ) twice we both had "fish on" at the same time! BIG THANKS to Matt and the fly rod shop - PS I had also done the casting clinic with Alex and another - SUOER Helpful for a fisherman transitioning to Fly Fishing . It was only a 3 mile trip yet two other companies quoted me over $350 because they have a 2 hour minimum. Ted offered his services at a fraction of that amount and the experience could not have been better. He communicated with me the morning of to let us know he was on the way, he arrived on time and was very helpful getting three senior citizens and tons of bags into his van. Very personable, the van was immaculate and the entire experience was 5 star. Highly recommend this company if you are ever in need of shuttle service in the BTV area.

The fact that the story was true and that this famous singing family settled in Stowe, VT because it reminded them of their homeland, well, it's been a long-time dream of mine to visit the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe and feel the connection in person. And so I did... in July 2025, some SIXTY years after seeing the Sound of Music. We actually didn't stay here, which seems kind of odd considering what a fan I am. Now that I know how much there is to do in Stowe... and at the lodge itself, perhaps if we come back with plans to stay longer, I would stay here. The Von Trapp Family Lodge has so much to offer a person... whether one stays here or not. These are some of the activities: 1. Hiking 2. Mountain biking 3. Skiing / Cross-country skiing 4.
