Super friendly very accommodating and excellent customer service. The bike shop owner was very helpful in describing the mountain bike routes in waitsfield and mad river. I was really impressed with his knowledge of the area and also his ability to make surw that i was comfortable with my bike fitting. The bike shop was very nice with a large parking lot for testing out bikes. I decided to try the intermediate climb from flatbread company and so amazing. First and last time here. Family of 6. Server was as inattentive as they get. Asked about drinks, immediately took food order. Once the food came out he never came back to see how it was or if we needed anything. No refills on drinks. We ordered wings (the only decent item on the menu), ribs (cold,tasted like spicy ketchup was the sauce on them), fish & chips (inedible), burger (tiny portion and was completely raw). What a great addition to the Valley. First of all, the place is beautiful. Mountain Views. We went for dinner with a group of 7 people so we made a reservation (awesome!). The drink selection is beautiful- really nice cocktails and beers on tap. We chatted with the bartender for a few minutes. Such a welcoming atmosphere. I got the rigatoni and cauliflower-- YUM! The cauliflower is really something to taste. We had a picky 10 year old with us who tried it (on a dare) and liked it. The hotel part looks great. BLUF: tasty food and a good view. Cocktails were hit or miss Three of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. The outdoor seating is nice has a great View. Servers were very friendly. We got there early so it wasn't very crowded yet. Started out with the beet and arugula salad and some dry rub buffalo wings. The wings were really well done, nice and crispy and tasty, although the rub is a little too salty. The salad was good but pretty small considering the price you pay for it. Also was light on dressing could have used more. I would not order it again because I'm just not going to pay that much for just a few leaves and about three slices of pear. Will you order cocktails which were pretty good except for the jalapeno Citrus one picture. I don't think it was made badly, it's just the flavors don't really gel well and I wouldn't recommend getting it. The whiskey based cocktails were pretty good. For entrees we ordered the chimichurri chicken sandwich, old school chicken, and salmon. All of that food was very good, with the salmon being the standout. If you get the chimichurri chicken sandwich ask for extra chimichurri sauce. There's a decent amount on there but I liked a little more. i went here the night before thanksgiving with my family. i ordered a falafel gyro, which came with seasoned fries. the gyro was quite good and the fries well seasoned. their house hot sauce was the highlight for me, and it wasn't too dry like how falafel can sometimes be. i also tried the chocolate mousse which was quite rich and very good. the service this time was decent, and the ambiance was pretty bright for dinner, but understandable for a lodge-setting. the reason i knocked off a star is because of my family's first experience here for drinks a few weeks after opening, where the service was incredibly rude. seems like they've cleaned up their act since then. read more

This past weekend I took a ride hoping to get one last gasp at Vermont's fall foliage season. While this year was a disappointed, I must say my stop for lunch at MadBush Falls was not. I was in the Waitsfield area with my daughter and her pet dog so finding a place was initially challenging as many eateries in the area are not pet friendly. MadBush is as they offer outdoor seating so we were welcomed with open arms. Madbush offers a modest Vermont-inspired menu for lunch and dinner. I ordered the The Bruce burger with bacon and a order of wings. My medium well burger and classic wings were cooked to perfection and delicious. The MadBush also had a decent selection of craft beer on tap, I ordered the Elaborate Metaphor from Burlington Beer Company. It was a refreshing pale ale. This is a review of the restaurant only, an operation that opened in summer of 2023. (There's also an adjoining hotel and shop downstairs selling mountain bikes, x-country and downhill skis, and boards, well patrolled on one visit by silky-eared Nala, a very personable / dogable five-year-old pup.) Reservations are not accepted for groups of fewer than six, so there might be a bit of a wait on major holidays for smaller groups, but so far not at other times. Staff were professional, accommodating, and on top of their game. TLDR: This newcomer has a very strong kitchen turning out well-executed mainstream options for pickier eaters and more inventive options for those who seek more culinary adventure. Service is fantastic and the low-key, casual ambiance is great for families. Pricing seemed quite fair to us We enjoyed the well-designed drinks list with nicely made cocktails, excellent VT made beers, some wines by the glass and bottle, mocktails -- and food that was far more sophisticated and well executed than one might expect outside of a major city. Dishes we tried over the course of multiple visits: - PEI mussels of the day ($18) -- A large bowl of small to medium sized mussels in garlic and white wine sauce on our visit were fresh and sweet, served with a generous portion of excellent multigrain toast points. - Jonny Cake and Dal (cauliflower puree, curried lentil dal, Johnny cake, garlic oil, cilantro; $12) -- This was a fascinating taste of diaspora. I'm not sure I would've called the lentil preparation a dal, but rather green lentils cooked to a softer consistency than lentils du puy usually are and left whole. There was a touch of cumin and coriander dominant garam masala that tasted as though it had been cooked directly into the lentils rather than added as part of a tadka as you'd typically see in Indian or even Caribbean preparations. The Johnny cake -- a gorgeously fried Caribbean version with hollow innards rather than the more pancake-like, cornmeal heavy American southern version -- resembled thick bhatura / poori. Even if it's hard to tie to a specific culinary tradition, the dish was comforting, well thought-out, and delicious. - MadBush Wings (GF, NF, DF; pickled brined wings, carrots, celery; 6 for $12) were a bit tough per the boys who ordered them, though nicely seasoned with our chosen Buffalo seasoning. They weren't very crusty by nature, but I loved that they were not overly oily, either. - Nutty Pedals Salad (DF; greens, grilled chicken, pickled grapes, crispy rice noodles, cucumber, peanut, soy sesame dressing; $18) -- MadBush must serve one of the best salads in the MRV area right now. (I also like the salad with crispy quinoa currently on offer at Rumble's.) The grapes -- lightly pickled in cucumber dill pickle brine I think? -- were a zippy, cool pop of flavor, the crispy rice noodles a pop of texture. They played very nicely with the tender, moist grilled chicken and greens (slightly overly dressed in our book, but that's a nitpick / personal preference). - The Children's menu offering of "Actually Awesome Cauliflower" (caramelized cauliflower, cumin honey; $12) was indeed awesome, a gorgeously browned eighth of a head of tender cauliflower served with some carrot and cucumber crudites on the side. This was such a nice combo of sweet and savory, which the kiddos ate without complaint. Next time, the grownups want to try the grownup version on the regular menu (Honey Cumin cauliflower, which comes with the addition of feta and walnuts as well). - Cody Sandwich (Boyden Farm braised short rib, caramelized onion horseradish aioli, gruyere, Red Hen sourdough, jus; $23) -- The short rib was moist, tender, and beautifully seasoned, jus a liquid gold. - Old School Chicken (Statler chicken breast, crispy potatoes, pan roasted green beans, maple butter; $29) was indeed old school, a well-made, classic, unfussy preparation of moist, Statler-cut chicken, fingerling potatoes, and green beans roasted with a great deal of garlic and some textural bite remaining. - Slammin' Salmon (6oz ancho crusted salmon, creamy cauliflower puree harrisa honey roasted carrots, braised spinach; $32) was very well prepared, a generous cut of flawlessly fresh salmon pan fried skin-side down until the skin had crisped. Tender, garlic-heavy, braised spinach was a great foil for the same sweet, mellow cauliflower puree that accompanied other dishes and slightly spicy salmon. Our takeaway: Madbush Falls is a gem. Ingredients are top notch and execution surpasses / matches any other kitchen we know of in the area, including well known ones in Waterbury. What a fantastic addition to the Mad River Valley! We're evangelizing. Even if it makes it harder for us to dine here, this restaurant deserves success and we want to see it for many, many future years. read more

This little out of the way place is a gem! I've only been to the sauna a couple of time and it's amazing. Recently went and came out rejuvenated to a dead car battery. Well the owner was there and he was a true Vermonter and ready and willing to help. Gave me a jump start and I went in my way. Moral of this review: a good place for great people to do wonderful things with a view a place to rest and a room to stay to do it all over again the next day. read more

The room was $400 a night and all of the reviews used the word "outstanding". We expected so much more. The room felt like a youth hostel. It was basically a white box with a cement floor. The bed was cheap and uncomfortable, a thin innerspring mattress on a platform. There was no TV, no comfortable chairs, no art work. Little to no sound insulation, kids running up and down the hall at 6 AM and you can hear every work from the people in the hall as if they were in bed with you. If the room was priced at $125 a night they might warrant 3 stars. The bathroom had some style and a rain shower and the in room coffee was above average although getting cream for the coffee was more of an effort than it needed to be. The cream is located in a frig near the entrance but it was empty. I had to hunt someone down for another container of cream and he handed me a carton that was almost empty. read more

Had a delicious short rib panini tonight that was fabulous. Stellar and fresh beer options and awesome ambiance. On the pricey said but fair and worth it for what you get. I took my family up for a weekend if mountain biking and we had a blast. We stayed in the Falls Suite where there is a little kid cabin room off the side that the kids loved. After a great day of riding as a family, blueberry lake 15 min south is the best area to ride with kids, we came back and had a great meal accompanied by selections from their primo beer and wine list and ended the night sitting on the porch outside our room in the cool wooden deck chairs that were part of our room. The next morning started out with the fantastic pour over coffee service that was in our room before we set off for home. It was a perfect stay and we will be back! read more

I really was hoping this place would be good and it was in some ways. The concept is amazing, the beer & wine menu are good, the service was excellent as well. But the food was overpriced & tiny portions. I feel like they missed the target audience. They should look at satisfy the bikers and hikers of the area. I am a biker and hiker, after a long ride I don't want a tiny piece of monk fish. I want some cold IPAs and a large tasty home style meal. I'm hoping they turn it around and pay attention to who the clients are. read more

We had brunch on the Sunday morning of Thanksgiving weekend. It was excellent. Welcome and service were gracious. We both ordered the Smoked Salmon Bene(dict), which was perfection (high praise from someone who has for decades ordered Smoked Salmon Benedict wherever she can find it). The portion was incredibly generous. There is another Smoked Salmon Benedict available in Town, for $16. This was $18, and twice the portion size of the other, which I last had a couple of months ago. The hash browns were crisp and dangerous (a good thing). In other words, very reasonable pricing. We ate about 10:30 and were still full by suppertime. A welcome addition to our Town's restaurant options! read more
