As a medical professional who has taken many different courses from MANY agencies, I highly recommend Saving Grace. It's not a surprise that many people dread first aid. It's long, it's bland, and it forces you to partner up with someone, this makes me totally anxious and I freeze. How many times have you gone home and completely forgotten about everything you've learned? Most likely, often. This is one of the only courses that I've retained 100% of the content, felt accomplished, and didn't walk away with a complaint, (besides it being a little cold bring a sweater!) My registration was spontaneous and it was handled perfectly. Jason had an answer to my questions, great sense of humour, and personal EMS stories that really helped connect topics. There's no "cutting corners" here. What there is, is a condensed first aid course that gets to the important techniques. This leaves out unnecessary information, and makes the skills the forefront. The videos are hokey, but they get to the point. They're diverse as well. Clean office, I didn't feel like advertisements were shoved in my face, and most of the class had laughter and engaging conversation. Doesn't hurt that the teach is easy to look at either if ya know what I mean. read more

Unquestionably the best place to go for all your First Aid training needs. Our office set up a training session for re-certification and from end to end, this was the best experience I have ever had. Customer service was impeccable and very flexible with our schedules. Jason was an absolute blast and he made some pretty dry content a riot without compromising on the quality of the information delivery. Topics were current, and Jason made sure to address old techniques and why they were no longer widely accepted, or why they had changed rather than confusing us with new information sans-explanation. Everyone came away from the day having learned everything necessary in a reasonable amount of time, and left with a smile on their face. For something so necessary in this day and age, why wouldn't you go to a place that makes it fun? read more

Originally I rated them a three star for my last course taken there, but I would recommend going elsewhere after trying to deal with them a second time. They are sensitive and aggressive to take (legal, professional, etc.) action on concerns/complaints being dealt with them directly. I was trying to find/ book on their website the renewal course that was listed on the Heart and Stroke portal under renewals courses. But all the courses on their website were the full version. All communications were kept in email. Jason tried to say Heart and Stroke full course and renewals could and are be ran simultaneously therefore same price/same course. This seemed odd to me as then there is no reason for Heart and Stroke to have a renewal course. In the end, I was accused of sacrificing quality by "trying to cut corners", looking for a discounted low quality course and I was told to find a course elsewhere and "no longer waste their time and their efforts to get me the certifications" I need. There was really no effort in them assisting me or directing me where I might find what I was looking for. It was confirmed with Heart and Stroke this was incorrect information, renewals are to be taught separate and cannot be combined with a full course version. The organization (via email) apologized for the poor experience I had after viewing all the email communications and assured me they are in contact with the school to correct. As well, to legally call/portray yourself a paramedic one must be currently registered/ a regulated member. Different thing to say you were one or put in so many years. I would not recommend this business to anyone. After they took my money, I wasn't able to attend their course based on their questionnaire. They denied me getting my CPR due their question asking if I was in close contact with anyone who was ill. As a frontline nurse, I am around ill people every day, its the nature of my job. When I asked for a refund, the manager, Emily, sent me a rude email stating "they had 'zero' contact from me" which was not true. I emailed them back and was just told they put me down as a no show and I could not get a refund. I don't normally put negative reviews, but felt I had to since I was treated poorly and unfairly. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! THIS COMPANY KNOWINGLY MISREPRESENTS THE RED CROSS COURSES IT OFFERS AND LIES TO CUSTOMERS!! EDIT: Jason's comment says I have been "handled by edmonton police". What he means by that is he reported me for harassment for sharing my experience of Saving Grace online. The Edmonton Police have since informed me they will not be pursuing this and no charges are being brought against me. I feel Jason's attempt to slander and silence me only goes further to show the level of business he operates. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! THIS COMPANY KNOWINGLY MISREPRESENTS THE RED CROSS COURSES IT OFFERS AND LIES TO CUSTOMERS!! In preparation for the birth of our first child my wife and I signed up for the Red Cross "Child Care First Aid CPR + AED Level B" through Saving Grace. After prepaying for our course and receiving email confirmation for said course we arrived in class on the scheduled day to find our instructor (who is also "Dean of Admissions" for Saving Grace) preparing to teach Senior First Aid to a group of people clearly there to get first aid clearance for work. We explained we had signed up for Child Care First Aid CPR + AED Level B and, after seeming briefly confused, our instructor assured us the course he was teaching was almost exactly the same as the one we signed up for and taught in the same way (in hindsight we should have asked for a refund then and there but we did not think he would lie to our face concerning the training we were getting to better care for our new baby) We spent one (very rushed) six hour day in class before being given an online portion to take home and complete. After running into issues with competing the online portion we contacted Red Cross for some clarification only to find out we should never have been put into a Senior First Aid class to begin with. The course we paid for was for 2 DAYS in class with and instructor and was supposed to FOCUS on infant and childcare, which was the whole reason we took the course in the first place. We contacted Saving Grace asking if they would refund our money for the Child Care First Aid CPR + AED Level B since we did not receive that course, and had only stayed in class because we had been ASSURED by our instructor they were essentially the same course. Saving Grace has refused to honor our request to refund the money on the courses they DID NOT DELIVER, suggesting everything from they gave us a "better course" (don't know how it could be a better course since it does not focus on childcare which was our reason for taking it) to also suggesting it was somehow our fault for "not finishing the course properly" (the wrong course we did not pay for and we were mislead into taking) I have followed this up with both the Red Cross (who are currently investigating Saving Grace's teaching practices) and the Better Business Bureau. However Saving Grace's willingness to continually lie throughout this process (including during our contact through BBB) makes it clear they are: A. unwilling to admit fault or do the appropriate thing. B. more than willing to continue to lie in order to get peoples money under false pretenses. This has lead me to write this review in the hope more young families are not tricked into taking courses and losing money with this group who clearly have no interest in making sure people get the information they paid for. read more

My name is hard to pronounce and I gave the instructor a my nick name but he insisted on calling me by my name and butchering it for the amusement of the class. He was rude and condescending. Very uncultured like he wasn't exposed to people of other ethnicities. read more

Registration was easy online. I was told I had to take the BLS course and not the recert because my certification had expired 3 weeks previous to recertifying and the AHS/Covenant Health etc. standards stipulated that because it had been over a year I had to take the full course. I stated that I am not an employee of those companies but that standard was still applied to me. However, when I arrived at the recert it was explained to me that the recert was essentially the same as we needed to view the videos and demonstrate our skills the same way regardless of full course or recertification. Jason explained the historical changes to the CPR standards and practices and gave excellent rationale for why we are to perform CPR the way it is taught now. Being that this was my 37th recert I appreciated the information and set my mind on the new way of performing CPR with rationale guiding me to remember the new standards. This history had not been presented to me until this recert even though things changed from 2010 on so that was good information. Jason also gave some excellent tips and tricks to remember CPR steps and practices, such as Slip, Grip and Flip for using a pocket mask or bag/valve mask. His medic experience showed and was helpful to apply CPR in the "real world". The business is in a good location with adequate, free parking. Price was fair. Room was comfortable and equipment was clean and in good condition. read more

I'm not sure who peed in the first reviewers cheerios but I had a great experience here. The first reviewers complaint has actually been resolved through the BBB and was an error on the reviewers part so it seems best to just disregard that review. Anyway, I took a blended Standard First Aid + CPR C/AED through Saving Grace and everything went very well. I appreciated the option to complete the theory portion online, as I've taken first aid several times and don't feel that I benefit from the extra day sitting in a classroom. The class was very hands-on and really focused on getting students comfortable with the most important skills rather than memorizing nit-picky details as I've found with some other courses. The instructor is also a paramedic, which provides useful insights to the class about what skills and knowledge are really most applicable and useful for first responders. He was also fun and easygoing and overall made for a really enjoyable class. The price for this course was pretty comparable to others, and the location was convenient with a more reasonable start time than some other companies. We also got out slightly early, as the instructor does an excellent job of gauging the knowledge and experience level of the class and teaching at a rate that allows people to learn without getting bored. I would highly recommend taking first aid courses here, and plan to recertify here when my first aid expires in 3 years. read more
