The Speech Studio is an exceptional speech, drama, and acting school in Edmonton. It prepares students for board-certified examinations for the Royal Conservatory of Music (based on Toronto) and for the Trinity College of London (based in England). Shirley, the managing director, is extremely approachable, friendly, and dedicated to seeing your children succeed. Staff are highly trained; the studio is clean, well-furnished, and inviting. Pros: boosts child's confidence, writing skills, reduces performance anxiety, and ability to memorize; do a yearly performance involving all students; one of the better extracurricular choices to take on outside of school Cons: may be difficult to get scheduled to classes with Shirley in your first year (you may have to do a trial year with a junior teacher before studying with Shirley); studio does not maintain a very strong online presence, so it is best to give them a call. Summary: Studying with Shirley is a benefit without words. You must try out the Speech Studio. I had the benefit of being able to teach at the Studio in 2015-2016. read more

I brought him to their office for his intake assessment, which was difficult for him. I discussed the new group with him for months in order to prepare him as he is autistic. After 2 years of waiting I was told on the day he was to start the group that he could not be accepted into this group and would be unable to attend. This organization has done more harm than good for my son and are not accepting of individuals who are not neurotypical.
