Maybe the best value for a café, tea room place in the whole Geneva. With a decor à la…read moreMarie-Antoinette with ribbons, nice draperies, an old carrousel car in the front window, this place serves all things chocolate, tarts, pies, in bite sizes. Casual, you pick a plate and try to choose something out of the whole tasty display. You usually end up crowding up your plate. For my first time at Chez Gautier, a gem right off Geneva railstation, my friend Stephanie, a regular, recommended the home made soup. Ordered a zucchinis and leek soup that came with bread bites. Nice, natural and tasty soup that wasn't too salty, nor too rich. I paired mine up with a nuts bun sandwich with gruyère and the Swiss dried beef, a thinner, tastier and healthier version of the US beef jerky. We both went for a sweet touch with a nut scone that turned out to be a little more of a biscotti and I had the meringue tangerine tart. Delicious! I would highly recommend Chez Quartier, a gem in the heart of Geneva where the service is nice and polite, you get tasty food for fair prices.

I've brought my parents and husband here and they loved the croissant, petit pain au chocolat and ficelle with marmite. They also have a great selection of teas and fresh juice.

The view is still nice but I reckon many Americans may expect that the name + picture means you're high up, so it's worth mentioning. The restaurant is fine: large portions compared to trendy restaurants in the US and nothing offensive taste-wise but the prices are in the realm of make-believe. $49 for basic chicken curry and $69 for basic (but finely pounded) veal schnitzel. In all of my travels there has been no precedent for such high prices being assigned to "everyday" dishes that are in no way elevated.

This restaurant gave us cheese pretzel lollipops, cheese cup and this amazing delicious butter bread concoction. The waiter messed up on my appetizer order but was quick to resolve the issue. The funny thing was that the messed up order actually tasted better than what I actually ordered (lobster pancake). For the main entree I got a shrimp and mushroom risotto dish which was delicious. My favorite part was the dessert. I got the homemade honey comb ice cream. A must try if you are dining here! The only criticism I have about this restaurant is that the service is very slow. I felt as if we sat for 30 minutes before they came and took our order. The whole dining experience felt longer than it should have and we were the last ones out of the restaurant.

I didn't get a chance to ever eat the actual food here and only the pastries of which both were underwhelming. What's great about this spot is that it's cafeteria style. So you have stations and you can grab your tray and order at the made to order pizza station or curries or sandwich or juices. It was cool to see little mugs with chocolate pieces which you can get hot chocolate made in front of you. Seating can get crazy. Sometimes you'll have to share some tables because some tables are communal where we had an interesting encounter with three guys on their phones seemingly talking to someone on their phones....seemed like they were on speed dating or chat rooms. It was really interesting. Anyways, you may have trouble getting a large table, but be patient. There's also a restroom up here too which is nice. I wish I did get a chance to eat something other than the pastries, but at least it's cheap and fairly fast. If you want something faster, just go to the first floor and grab something from there.

Manora itself is one of the best department stores I have ever been to (In the world!) You can get something on the way (because it is on the top floor.) I highly recommend the smoothies as well! The Restaurant Manora has everything From Pastry's to Fruits! The view is also splendid! I highly recommend this place!
