Was looking at some merchandise in the corner of the store where they keep the sporting goods and when I walked to the corner I was looking at a fishing pole and a net and next thing I know I get hit by an employee pushing a huge cart. The employee then proceeded to get rude and ignorant with me. Telling me that I need to stay away from the door and watch what I am doing. So I said to him that he needed to watch when going through doors or not put merchandise there. The guy never apologised or anything. Extremely rude. read more

50% off days are the only reason I still shop Here. Every day pricing is extremely overpriced for used, often dirty items. I found a doll that Dollar Tree sells for $3 at Savers, used! I went next door and bought it at DT for, guess what, $1! Clothes are usually a rip off, I can buy brand new on clearance at department stores for usually the same price. Purses are filthy inside and generally overpriced as well ($20 for a FAKE Coach coach). They need to revamp their pricing or they've lost my business completely. read more

If you're looking for a value you pretty much have to shop at Savers on Mondays only as this is their 50% off day. Every other day finding a bargain there is quite the challenge. All of their inventory is extremely overpriced! To illustrate: My son is really into any clothing that bears the Nike logo. However, every single t-shirt with the Nike logo is priced at $8.49! For a t-shirt at a THRIFT store?? Absolute insanity. This also holds true for ANY garment bearing a brand name. In fact the prices are so high there that you could probably get them cheaper on sale at Kohl's. So I make it a practice to NEVER shop at Savers on any other day but Monday. Even at $4.25 (half price) I would argue that Nike t-shirt is still not a "value", but something I would now at least be willing to pay for. And it's not just me that has noticed their crazy prices, as the few times that I've been in there on days other than Monday it's always a veritable ghost town. Read all the other reviews and see what percentage of them mention their "pricing" as being outrageous. P.S. True story, but I know a woman at this very location who does some of the "pricing". I'm not sure to what extent she's to blame for their unrealistic expectations as I only know her in passing and not well enough to ask her if she's lost her mind when she's back there doing her thing. read more

For a resale shop they are way overpriced. Can get similar items not used next door at Tj Maxx for almost the same price.

Great place for Gag gifts. Great place for jackets, blazers, dresses. They have plenty of mirrors around so if you go wearing something thin and smooth, you can try on a mass of clothing in front of a mirror and not have to use the dressing rooms. A lot of junk there too, but one man's junk, blah blah It does have a musty mothball smell there. I've never donated to this store, but I do go on an occasional Saturday night-they play good music and it's like going to a garage sale party. It's well lit and employees seem very nice. I wish I lived closer, I'd be there on a regular basis. Pricing is not consistent. Sometimes that's good/other times it's bad. Overall, I enjoy my time there if I don't need to use the dressing rooms. Bought household items for our office rather than buying new plates, mugs, silverware. Wish they got better furniture donated there. Wonder why the other resales in the area have decent stuff yet Savers always has junk I wouldn't bother with! ? read more

All the employees I encountered who were working at the Savers in Crystal Lake at close tonight (Thursday, 8/1/19) were amazing, & very accommodating. We arrived at Savers to donate a dresser, but had forgotten the drawers for the dresser. So we had to turn back, & ended up getting to Savers right at 9:30, which is closing time. I've worked retail & know that it's hard work & tiring, so the last thing employees want to see is a customer showing up at close, when they want to get out of work. So we are very grateful for the kindness of the employees who took our donation so late in their work day. I love this thrift store! Its massive, clean (mostly) and has everything you might be looking for. The prices are a bit higher than some other thrift stores but when you find nice things, its a steal! unless you go on a day that certain things are 30,40,50% off,,then its even better! Usually very friendly employees, and lots of dressing rooms for a short wait time. read more

I think it completely depends on what you buy here, if you think it's overpriced. The clothes are all very reasonably priced, and I've found a bunch of very good brands (in good condition) for low prices. The furniture (although some is in terrible condition) is also very nicely priced. $12 for a filing cabinet, and I've purchased some toys as well. It is well organized, bright and sure some of the stuff is not clean, but a lot of resale stores this size will have some useless dirty merchandise. The staff have all been friendly or at least courteous. I don't buy knick knacks so I can't comment on the other reviewers beliefs that everything is overpriced. I plan to stop by here every so often for clothes, toys or furniture. read more

Almost wish I didn't have to pick 1 star. No stars in my book. Was in on Sunday shopping around that went fine. I had found something that looked like a mini harness and lease combo. Very small. Almost looked like it was for a toy? Either way a friend of mine had been trying to make and buy a harness for her bearded dragon, nothing was working out. I snapped her a picture saying I thought it would fit him! After I was home already which is in Richmond... a little drive from crystal lake... she had replied and was very excited about it but she works over nights and didn't think she would have a chance to make it there anytime soon... I said I would stop by after work tomorrow and grab it. Monday night i get off work and drive over there. The parking lot and store itself was a mad house!!! Aparently they had a sale going on. I didn't know I didn't stop to look at anything or a sign if there was one. Just ran in to the back right where they had a bucket filled with collars leashes etc. that's where I found it! Ran up to the register... waited in line. Finally my turn and the cashier just flips it around the counter a bunch and really snarky asks "does this not have a tag on it? *scoff*" and i said I didn't know I didn't even look! Just pulled it out of a bucket picking it up for a friend... she then said that she could not sell it... simple as that. I asked if she could get someone to put a tag on it... she said no. At this point I'm getting irritated. She is talking to me like I should be well aware of this when it's my 3rd time ever in their store... but also I had to ask... why are there things out that you cannot sell? Why don't you have someone going around to make sure there are price tags on everything... why was it in a tangled bucket for the tag to just fall off... I'm sure it probably was at the bottom of that bucket but I didn't go back to look because it would not have mattered. Another woman chimed in saying It had to go back to "production" and they would get it priced and back out. So I asked how long it would take thinking I'd still get to buy the item... ha... she said it maybe back out tomorrow. I asked if I could call and check before driving here... she said I could "try" I asked if they would hold it for me for the inconvenience of driving here for nothing? For them having items out with no tags... she said they don't do holds...then she attempted to imply that I took the tag off to get a cheaper price because today is a sale. I asked why someone would need to do that on a sale day? I offered to pay whatever for it $20 more than $20 whatever just because it was a hassle for me to get there anyway... nothing... so I was pretty much just out of luck. Horrible expiercence... I don't believe I will even be returning... another woman upfront mentions it may be a rat leash. I think I would rather just find a store or a website that sells those and buy from there. Even if over priced I feel they deserve my business more than the savers in crystal lake... read more

I keep coming back here because there ARE some great finds. But, I always end up spending much more than I wanted to, and wishing I'd been able to find those same items at my Goodwill. Savers is VERY overpriced. We're talking at least twice if not more as expensive as Goodwill. $8 for a pair of cheap used flats. $3.99 for a single pretty tea plate. Whereas Goodwill prices almost all their knickknacks at $.99 or even $.50, it's very rare to find anything under $1.99 here. Like another reviewer here, I too have caught them trying to scam people. Some of their florals still had original tags on them. I saw at least one that Savers had obviously purchased for $1.99, and was attempting to sell for $2.99. Seriously? Kind of pathetic. Is it dirty? It's a thrift store... it's going to come off as a bit junky. But to their credit, it's extremely organized. I have no complaints about that. read more

If it's Monday, I'm at Savers. I always find items at good value. You just need patience, & know how to look. I've often been asked where l buy my clothes. I say Savers, Monday's 50% off. This place is great. Store is organized and shoppable and staff is helpful and always remembers me. I especially love the drive up donation center ~ I don't have to lift a finger to get the stuff out of my car and they pass out 20% off coupons every time I donate, which is great incentive to shop! read more

*sigh* Savers. It's a love/hate relationship with you, but I still keep coming back. Here's why. I think the selection, organization, and general size of the store can't be beat. It's bright, mostly clean, and the clothes are very well organized and easy to look through. Here's why I don't like Savers. The prices are marked well above your average thrift fare. If the person pricing senses the item is 'unique' or valuable- expect the price to reflect that (same goes for name brand clothing). While this hasn't hindered me from shopping there, it has stopped me from purchasing things I've found before. (Pro tip- If you donate to Savers- you get discount coupons. ) Lastly- I cringe every time I have to head to the checkout. The employees (or lack thereof) at the check out counter are awful- awful attitudes, awful customer service skills. Example- one time I came up to the only cashier at the front- who then informed me she was closed....luckily some crab dragged his feet over from the dressing room and did me the favor of opening his register and checking me out.
