I always stop here for fun. Interesting and fun antiques that are reasonably priced.I work at an antique mall too.

I've been to this thrift store before and have never had any complaints, but unfortunately this experience was disappointing. I completely understand that coming in about 10 minutes before closing isn't ideal, and I was fully aware that the store closed at 6:00. I had no intention of staying past closing time. However, from the moment we were walking in they immediately turned Half of the lights off, and we were immediately told there were "less than five minutes" left, even though there was clearly more than five minutes until closing. After that, we were repeatedly reminded that they were closing. I understand giving customers a reminder, but I don't need to be told over and over again when I'm already aware of the time. What really bothered me was that at 5:55, an employee told us that they were closing, even though the posted closing time was 6:00. At that point, I knew I only had five minutes left and was prepared to leave by 6:00. It just felt like they were so adamant about getting us out that we were made to feel unwelcome for simply walking into a business while it was still open. If customers aren't supposed to come in during the last 10-15 minutes, then the store should have an earlier last-entry time posted. Otherwise, customers who enter before closing should still be treated respectfully. read more

Incredible merchandise at very affordable prices. Comfortable atmosphere for browsing, with helpful and pleasant staff and volunteers.

Many good things found in this place! The sparrow thrift stores are usually good for home decor, not for clothing (in my opinion). I prefer places that have decent vintage clothing and more than five pieces for plus sizes. I also find that the shoe inventory needs to be improved for these stores. Jewelry selection is bigger here! That's nice. As well as the furniture selection. Pricing is decent, not cheap as I'd like to save, but still affordable enough to buy. read more

I love this location better than my closer Sp.Nest. this one is huge. 3 stores wide. I love coming here for kids clothes and toys. Super cheap! Sometimes find brand new donated items too. Love looking thru everything. The drop off here in back is easy too. Drive up. read more

I stopped by Sparrow's nest the other day, and will definitely be back in the future. Sparrow's Nest is a great thrift store in the area, and also great spot to check out if you are a fan of antiquing. The store seems very well kept and organized, and has a decent selection of furniture,plates and glasses, and all at reasonable prices. I did not check out the clothing area, but it seemed pretty large as well. I am giving this review 4/5 stars because as nice as it is, it is still pretty standard for a thrift store. read more

Lovely store with high end items which are beautifully displayed. The volunteer staff couldn't be nicer and the clothing, accessories, furniture, etc. Are carefully screened. I somehow always walk out of there with things I didn't know I needed! Please support this wonderful cause! read more

I'm a regular at this store because I'm a bargain hunter and I live nearby. It's a favorite shopping spot of mine because of their frequent sales, and repeat customer reward card. They have everything from maternity clothes to window coverings to fine china and collectibles. Every time you spend $20, you get a stamp on your card. Five stamps, and you get 20% off your entire next purchase. I've scored so many deals here, it's now the first place I look when I need to buy something! They even give my kids a free paperback book at checkout, for being well-behaved. Just don't ask to use their bathroom--it's not open to the public. Donations are accepted at the back door during business hours. My only gripe is that some of the elderly volunteers can be a bit cranky sometimes. read more

Will not be returning. I witnessed the cashier be extremely rude to a customer. The customer was trying to get a price for something in the case, she had a heavy polish accent, and the associate was very impatient and rude. She was very unprofessional yelling at the lady saying I do not understand you waving her hands around like a mad women. I felt bad and uncomfortable for the customer.. No surprise a sale was lost. That is no way to speak or treat someone. All little patience would have gone a long way.. To top it off, I was double charged for two items. When I pointed it out, the cashier began to yell and tell me half the things where missing! I couldn't believe it! You could clearly see on the receipt I was double charge for TWO things.. I literally walked next door to get something to drink when I reviewed my receipt because it seemed high. I was raised to respect my elders and being 7 months pregnant, I had to walk away because I was ready to freak out on this lady.. This was one of my fav place to go but sadly I will not be spending my money here anymore.. read more

Very unfortunate experience. I am a donor to House Of Sparrow; I donate money and household goods and furniture because I support their worthy mission. On 1-20-17 I had a van full of goods to donate. Their drop-off for goods is in the rear of the store. Like always, when I arrive I opened the rear door and a bell rings telling the employees a donor has arrived and needs help unloading. This time two employees would not assist me and they certainly knew I was there, so I unloaded my donations alone. When finished unloading I walked inside and notified an employee, named Dominic, that my goods were right outside the door and I would be leaving. Dominic came out and appeared shocked and angered that there were a lot of goods. He demanded that I now bring the donations inside. I said I would have if only someone would have helped me unload I would have been happy to do so. But, because Dominic refused to help me unload I asked him now to put the donations inside the building himself. He had a rude fit of anger that I found extremely unacceptable. Here, is a donation organization that can't even help a donor, I'm a senior, unload their donations and then expects the donor to do the work of the people running the operation. Usually this rudeness doesn't happen but it sure did this time. Next time I'm going to Goodwill in Lake Zurich where their well-trained and courteous people are all too happy to help you unload donations and express their gratitude and not their ambivalent rudeness. I sincerely regret writing this but it's the truth. Thank you read more
