Had some random cravings and stopped by Save Mart to grab some things. I saw that they had premade chicken tamales so I wanted to try them! They ended up being pretty good. Seaweed has been on my mind forever so I finally bought some more! And who can go wrong with a bag of hot Cheetos?? LOL. Store is always cleaned and organized. Only shop at this store if you like: Spoiled meat, slimy expired bacon, rotten potatoes (about half the bag), and that milk spoils way before the expiration date. Or if you like getting ripped off by checker charging you for items that you didn't buy, like a $15 case of Dasani water. Or you think the more you pay must mean it's better. Like $10 butter while other stores only charge $4. Charging almost $8 for a loaf of bread. Unless you are Hispanic, there aren't many options out n Madera. read more

Customer service is amazing very helpful and courteous , they go above & beyond to asst , if asked to order items no problem. Again, we frequent Madera for softball, so I typically find myself at this location to pick up the random snacks, or fruit we forgot to pack. This location is perfectly located near Madera South or Madera High. They also have a deli, friendly cashiers and plenty of parking. read more

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who goes to the grocery store in need of a few, to possibly a half dozen items. On such occasions I have no need for a shopping cart, but rather a simple hand carried basket will suffice. However, that's not possible at Savemart, as they have no such baskets. That was not always the case, but they've rationalized that since baskets kept disappearing, management decided to stop furnishing them. Savemart is the only major grocery chain that I've been to that doesn't provide that simple, yet extremely convenient item. It seems to me that they could stack those items in such a way that they're visible to employees, & cashier personnel could simply ensure that they're being left behind at checkout. read more

This store is the equivalent of Netflix. Never has what I'm looking for. Lines are always long too.

After going there several times they never seem to restock the add items .Or only put a few out or you have to come back 20 minutes later .Prices are very high on every day items .San Louis French Bread 6.99 everyone else sells it for 3.79 to 4.29 .They sell most of their stuff a dollar higher than every one else .Wanted to get sourdough French bread in the bakery department very rarely have it .Just the sweet bagged French bread stuff is pretty bad .They do have good adds on items but seem to run out of some things .They have a good selection of regular items if you need certain things other stores don't carry .Too bad Pac N Save closed down seems they are taking advantage by charging high prices .Too expensive to get your staple items at that store .Won't be shopping there unless absolutely necessary. read more

I'm a fan of Save Mart, they have a great selection of almost anything you can think of. There deli can fix you up a sandwich anyway you want. Friendly cashiers, the meat department guy cut me some nice New York stake's, bag boy/girl was very nice. What's not to like. read more

The absolute worse!!! Not only do I frequently shop at savmart but primarily this one. Today, I was in there for n hour when I was checking out j realized I didn't have my credit card n the card I did have did not have a large balance. So I told the girl working the register I needed to Come back that I didn't have my credit card with offered to put my cart in the cooler. I said sure n thanked her. As I'm leaving the store the manager Doug A. (Who gets a ton of praises on his website ) follows me out n questions my intentions then asks why do I want them to hold the cart. Not happy with Savemart Deli today on Howard. I went there on lunch break. It was crowded. The ONE deli clerk asked for assistance. The woman saw me standing in line and did not offer to assist the Clerk. Others joined the line so he called for help but no one showed. Finally the woman clerk comes out and knows the customer in line and begins laughing and talking with her. Should I spend my money there again? Well I'm debating because I've never seen this woman clerk in deli before. Usually I'm a fan of Save Mart Supermarkets. Although a little pricier than your wholesale retailers like Food 4 Less or Winco, they always offer a wide selection of products and regularly have specials on just about everything. I usually buy my fruits and vegetables here, they are usually better quality and not likely to be rotten, bruised, or have fruit flies like at other stores. The staff is always courteous and the guys at the check out will offer to help you to your car. **I'm updating this review because I had a run-in with a staff member who was either in a bad mood or ticked off at something that I did. At the check out stand, I had to switch some products for another so I sent my sister to make the switch while the clerk checked out the rest of my groceries (instead of asking him or another staff member to go and switch it for me!). He was rather testy the entire time and even smashed the corner of one of my cereal boxes. Just unprofessional and uncalled for, whatever his problem may be. read more

I used to shop at the Howard Road store, but their pricing forced me away. When they do have something on ad that looks like an attractive price they are usually out of the item. Today my wife asked me to pick up a couple of things we forgot to buy at Winco, so I went to Savemart. One item was chicken drumsticks so I figured I would take advantage of the pick 5 and buy 5 packages and freeze 4. As usual they try to screw their customers by displaying "previously frozen" chicken that they probably had in the freezer for months. Had to go to Pak n Save for my chicken. Most of the employees are very nice, it's the top management that sucks. read more

Beyond the worst experience I have ever had. Heather O'Donnell was the rudest person I have ever encountered. She is absolutely despicable to the elderly community. I witnessed her yell at multiple elderly individuals as they asked her questions (about coupons and specials). She would yell at them and humiliate them. My Mom then walked up with my grandfather and as he was trying to write a check she announced that he was going to take a while and everyone should just move out of line to another. He looked so sad as she ridiculed him. I couldn't believe the audacity she had. I'm absolutely disgusted. Vincent saved the day and our opinion but she killed my view of this place. I'm here every week to buy groceries for my Grandfather since he is no longer capable. The store is relatively clean on a consistent basis and the bakery, produce and meat are generally up to par and well stocked. The lines never get too long except that occasional Friday, 1st, or 15th. The cashiers are pretty friendly, and the predominantly female courtesy clerks are pleasant as well. I do get a kick out of the 5ft, 100lb, 18yo clerks asking me if I need help to my car. The only reason they lose a star is because they never want to help me cash in my Grandpas lottery scratchers. It always seems to be this huge deal, that always took 15-20 minutes. So I no longer use them for that service. Other than that, Save Mart is OK in my book. read more

If you need something cut or made in a certain way, they will help you. Produce is fresh and delicious. The aisles are always organized, stocked, and clean. Management is super friendly and helpful. The bakery and deli always has a great selection. Just make sure you are 100% specific with your order in the bakery. The courtesy clerks offer a service out, but I usually decline. Prices are a little higher than at the warehouse type grocery stores, but worth it for the service they provide. Store is very clean, staff have always been friendly, they are good about opening additional check stands when things get busy and ask customers if they need help with there groceries. read more
