Labor per hour
Josh G.

Don't come here unless you want to be scammed. Came here for a simple oil change. Ended up having to pay $350. All they did was retread the hole and add a new drain plug. It took them 10-15 minutes to do so. They asked me how much money I have in the bank before giving me the quotes. I'm like that's an odd question. Are you genuinely worried about if I can afford this type of work or are you just scheming a dollar amount you feel okay taking from me? After what unfolded, it was the latter. They first tried charging me $750 to replace the oil pan. The owner will pose as being your friend looking out for you, and giving you the best price. But looks can be deceiving. They will try to scam you. Just look at all the recent reviews and type in "scam" in the search bar for the reviews on here. I opted to just pay $350 for resizing the hole and adding a new drain plug. I thought this was a fair deal as I don't have to replace my whole oil pan. As you can see, none of their labor exceeds $300 an hour. And most of the labor per hour is less than $200 an hour. This job was less than 15 minutes. My car was parked outside the garage already fixed. They were just making me wait longer so it seems like they were fixing it longer. I tried pleading with the owner to see if I can at least get half back. That's $175 for less than 30 minutes of work. Told him I had been coming here for the last 8 years and that this was so unfair and it feels bad. All he said was "a deals a deal." That's not a deal. That's fraud and dishonest work. I just replied with "sorry this happened and thank you for fixing my car." I knew at that point, I was not getting any money back. The paper trail doesn't lie! Check out my pictures down below.. it is what it is. If this review helps other people from a malicious hoax. Then at least, my mistake on my part will not go to waste. Huge learning lesson. Double check with other auto shops or even the cops if it feels like you're being scammed. Trust your intuition if it feels off. Please do not support a business like this one. As citizens of this community, we don't want to waste/spend our hard earned money on a business that will cheat us. Let's spend our money elsewhere that will be fair and look out for our best interest!

The shop owner was very knowledgeable and easy to work with, and the pricing was very reasonable. The final cost ended up being slightly higher than I originally expected, but that was because he took the time during maintenance to point out a loose screw, something that could have turned into a much more expensive issue down the line. I really appreciated being informed and given the choice to address it or not. If you come here, you can expect excellent service, attention to detail, and honest communication. Highly recommended.

3 week update: I got my car back after some back and forth and an eventual massive repair. Perhaps CVT fluid drained instead of Diff, destroying the transmission? Either way, I drove into issues that required a lot of work at their expense. Johnny took care of this and followed up repeatedly. I have my fingers crossed but so far the drive has been solid. I have driven for about 100 miles. It's unfortunate a routine fluid change triggered parts replacement. I will update again. 48 hours later: I'm driving on the 15 freeway and suddenly my front brakes lock up. I have to accelerate through it but it's rough and shaky. If there was any car nearby, I could've caused a massive accident with my sudden stopping. Had to dangerously maneuver across 4 lanes to an emergency shoulder. Heart rate was definitely up. I could smell the strong smell of burning from the front of the car. I knew it must've been the newly installed brake pads and/shocks. I'm still very angry about this. Avoided death, waited for tow truck and ruined a day. I'll be curious to see how they handle my rage Monday. To be continued.

It is covid and the person on the desk doesn't wear mask. Minus 2 stars. Minus 2 stars as well because i just freshly cleaned my car and when i disinfected my car with white cloth, the leather is black as well as the steering wheel after smog test. Most probably because the mechanic was dirty. He said it was my turn to pay, and i waited 10 mins for him while he was called by another customer to check his car that is already serviced / "finished" but he was asking why there is flashing inside his car. The guy in front who was taking payments said i will look into it again while holding my credit card on his hands. (Rolls eyes). I just find it unprofessional to not wear mask as a desk person and to say the car is done even if it is not. For me to wait for another 10 mins in front of the desk while my credit card is in his hands and went straight to the guy's car to park it on their garage. Bye!

DONT GO !! IT SUCKS

I've been coming to Mr Auto since last year and I'm very happy with their service and…read moreattentiveness. I came in for my 2007 Acura MDX. I was having issues where my car wouldn't start or the battery kept dying. Which didn't make sense since I would change for a new battery and it would keep happening. So when I was looking for a body shop to take care of my car, Mr Auto was one of the 3 locations I was looking at. The biggest reason I picked this location was because of the reviews and the response the owner or mechanics had for the customers. For the low star reviews, I liked how the responses to the customers were factually. Most reviews are based on emotion without any backing. So it was interesting to see the owner/ mechanics would bring up conversations, numbers and factual information. That told me they were attentive and knew what they were talking about. So I took my car there, it was a month long process because it was hard to figure out what was going on. It was an unusual situation. After coming back and forth for weeks, they were nice to have me keep my car there without extra charge because some situations happened only when I was driving and they couldn't trigger any of the issues so they thought it would be best to keep it. They only charged me the diagnosis price and finally after a month, we were able to figure out and it was such a simple small thing that cost little to nothing and completely fixed my issue. Since then, I come here for simple oil changes, because I can trust them. I know they take the time and don't rush. Actually during that month long situation, my battery died again and I was able to jump start it, but I had a smog check. Luckily I told the smog check place what happened and they didn't test it because it would fail since the car had to be driven for at least 50-80 miles. So I drove around San Diego and called Mr Auto and they told me to come in and they would double check my car to make sure it was good to go for the Smog check. Another extra step they did for me. It was awesome. They definitely make you feel safe and comfortable.

I'm driving the car and I'm life is on the line. Can't trust them 100%. I mean it is a decent spot, nice guys, and a decent price but the work makes me worry. Maybe those guys works too much and forget about tighten things back up. Sorry for the review but I had to be honest. Hope it gets better.

Highly recommend for road trip prep!…read more This is an amazing place to get your vehicle inspected before a long road trip. I booked online, noted my concerns in the text box, and dropped my car off the next day. After checking in at the office, I walked Joey through my concerns and opted for a Post-Purchase Inspection. Joey sent over the findings quickly and gave me his honest, upfront opinion on what needed immediate attention before my trip versus what maintenance could wait until I reached my destination. He also provided a clear copy of the inspection quotes so there were no surprises. In the end, they completed the full inspection, replaced the car battery, and fixed a coolant leak for around $550+ (including taxes). I definitely recommend this shop! Pro-tip: Try to get there early in the day, as on-site parking and road traffic can get a bit hectic later on.

I brought in my Honda Ridgeline for an issue with my AC. Jason worked with me at the front-desk and went above and beyond to understand my issue and the troubleshooting I had already done. He explained to me CONCISELY what the feasible issue may be, and how they were going to approach a diagnosis. Jason was extremely knowledgeable, and followed up promptly to discuss the fix. Pedro was also exceptional. He found the issue (rodent-chewed wires) and repaired it perfectly. When I picked up my car, he was as excited as I was to have helped me. Before Miramar Auto, I took my truck to the Honda dealer, and they charged twice as much for a diagnosis, only to tell me that I would need a new compressor (incorrect diagnosis) and that it would cost twice as much as I ended up paying out the door at Miramar auto. I couldn't believe how easy Miramar Auto made it. To say that Jason, Pedro, and Miramar Auto are honest, fair, and made me feel taken care of... would be an understatement. They have rightfully earned another lifelong customer. Thank you Miramar Auto!
