I especially love that they have their own parking lot, it's a relief not to have to worry about parking every time I visit. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming!! every time I go, someone chats with me. I also love how adventurous I can be with their products. Trying out different types of hummus has become a fun routine for me! This Trader Joe's is conveniently located in a shopping center with T.J. Maxx and Ulta, so I can knock out a few errands in one trip, which is a big plus. I recently went vegan, and I've been loving to find so many delicious options here. Their vegan apple sauce pouches and fruit blend juices are amazing! If you're looking for a clean, friendly store with unique products and a great location, I highly recommend this Trader Joe's!

The aisles are wide enough there's not a traffic jam in every one, and there's rarely any wait for check-out (where they'll still bag for you!). Their seafood and butcher/meat are the best I've found at a chain store except maybe Whole Foods. The bakery is also excellent. Their deli doesn't carry Boar's Head, which might be a sticking point if you eat a lot of cold cuts, but their own brand is pretty good. And there a couple other brands I wish they'd carry, to save me having to stop in other stores. It's true their prices run a little higher than the Stop & Shop down the road, but to me it's worth it for the better experience and quality.

Boy, this market sure went downhill in the last 25 years…read more It's downmarket and RIDICULOUSLY expensive for produce. I know I'm spoiled living in CA again but Stop and Shop produce costs more than Manhattan's Upper East Side. As Sue W noted, it's also not at all clean. The red peppers (cut in plastic) were slimy and I actually drove back to get my money refunded lol. Rented a car in Hartford so enjoyed tooling around my old haunts. Depressing all around. Rent is cheap in New Haven (even at the glorious, much-renovated Taft) and so is parking. But my God, the grocery stores are expensive. You're better off paying high prices at a local upscale market like Whitneyville Food Center. Closest Trader Joe's isn't close.

My review of this Walmart (Hamden, CT) comes from a special place. Brace yourself, because you're…read morein for a manifesto. You see... I grew up in Texas, where the protocol is that two very important things must happen to every child: 1. You're taught to have immeasurable pride in the Lone Star State and just about everything that stands upon it, and 2. The "bigger is better" mentality is permanently seared into the core fibers of your soul with a branding iron. So, naturally (and I hate to admit this given how many Americans absolutely HATE everything Walmart) I have an affinity. :) Haha, I actually used to get excited to go to Walmart as a child, opted to frequent the establishment for no reason at all as an adolescent, and am willing go out of my way to shop at Walmart as an adult. Yes, you might think I'm a loser for this, but in my mind - and true Texan fashion - I'm a winner. I WIN when I go to Walmart in Hamden. I'm always able to find what I'm looking for (possibly because the generic Walmart blueprints have imprinted into my brain). This Walmart can be cluttered, but it's Walmart... And I think of Walmart's as reasonably cluttered mega stores where I accept the fact that items aren't organized by color. I've never had any problem with customer service there, the employees are always friendly with me and do their best to help me if I need. For those that have issues with employees or complaints, there's even a Walmart Customer Service Line: 1 (800) 925-6278 available for use. How considerate of them! My expectations when I come to Walmart in Hamden is to be able to find what I need, and then some! Walmart is big, sells a lot of big stuff, and that's better to me. Plus, there's the Walmart app, that has the savings catcher, so you can scan your receipts and get money back if you paid more for an item at Walmart than you would have paid at another shop nearby, which is HUGE -- and another WIN in my book. I have no affiliation or ties to Walmart at all, I just like going to a place that has a wide variety of products, at decent prices. Yes, the Walmart in Hamden could be a little more organized, try and re-shelf items in their proper locations, and sweep the floor a bit more often... But to me, that would take some of the experience out of the experience. I plan to review more Walmart's in the future, because this was fun! Thanks for taking the time to read, and hit me up if you ever want to go on a random Walmart adventure! Lolllll
