There are so many things I love about Savage Mill. It's cute and cozy, and the mill itself is also very cool and historic! I have to say, the local businesses here have really impressed me each time I come! I have tried Boyd Cru Wines (delicious!!), More Than Java Cafe (pls get the jerk chicken omelette!), and have peered through Cherie Bridal (looking for a dress soon!). Every experience I have had here has been warm and welcoming. There's a large selection of stores, and they also seem to host a market here on weekends with some more local vendors! For the holidays, they have a cute Christmas setup and a meet Santa station. I also feel everything I've bought here has been fairly priced. I just got some Christmas presents for my mom, including locally made pottery for less than I usually see on Etsy. The food options here are great, and it's a cozy spot for families and couples! My school held and event here for the kids inside of the Savage Mill at the Great Room. It has been a few years since I was here last and they have definitely changed a little bit. There are a lot of different shops inside that appear to be new. The food options I noticed were the Dive Bar (Formerly Rams Head Tavern) and Java coffee bar. Since the dance inside of the great room was later in the evening most of the shops were closed. The interior of the building was still open and you could walk around and see all of the shops. It's a very historic and interesting building to say the least There are a lot of little shops that I would like to come back and try out. The pottery shop really caught my eye. It's always something that I wanted to try and they do have classes that you can attend. read more

I always wanted to stop here since I've been driving past this place for years, so my Husband said let's stop here since we were in the area. They have a variety of unique shops, an antique center, bridal shop, bakery, restaurants, a Fencing Club and more. They are located in this converted historic 1800 Cotton Mill. Several of the shops were closed, it was kind of empty, I think they get most of their business on the weekends. If you don't want the hustle and bustle of the average Mall, this is a unique place to shop at. They have free parking too. read more

Old things to new, Savage Mill tells a story of times of yesteryears... built in early 1800s the property now houses various shops and galleries. A fun browse and carve time and visit each of the 5 buildings. There are restaurants on site, grab a coffee at Brewing Good Coffee Company, pastries and the like from Roggenart, or a cocktail and bite at Dive Bar and Grille by the courtyard next to the little lot.. Please be cautious of shops that do not allow food or drink. Be sure to peruse the Antique Mall on ground level and stop by Terrapin Adventures by the larger lot. Parking is limited, the larger lot on Washington past Fair is nice walking distance. Foundry lot tends to be full, street parking is also available but heed to signage. Access throughout is limited, stairway access is plenty and some hallways are narrow. read more

What a cool gem right in Howard County! Savage Mill is a shopping center but all of the businesses are local businesses. The building is old but you're bound to find something interesting there, whether it's a spot a grab a bite or a place to do some shopping. Honestly, it's a good place to walk around on a nice day. During my last visit over the summer, I went for their Ice Cream Sundays event. The event featured one of my favorite ice cream brands...Tillamook! It was the perfect treat and I enjoyed eating my ice cream outside on the Savage Mill grounds. One downside to Savage Mill is that parking can be tricky at times but do not despair! They have like three parking lots and the easiest one is the one all the way in the back of Savage Mill. I don't remember the name of the street but you will have to go past Savage Mill and make a left on the next street. You will have to pass the little parking lot that everyone usually flocks to and go further down the street. You will see the big parking lot to your left. Savage Mill is also home to Terrapin Adventures. So if you're seeking a little thrill by doing some ziplining or rock climbing, that is available as well. read more

I admired how she persevered through Covid times and was able to sustain and maintain her business. Tara is super sweet, patient and full of recommendations to help you if you have troubled skin. She's not an esthetician but what I've done has worked well and it came from her input. She's gentle as gentle as the wax allows her to be. Waxing is not for the faint at heart lol. For a number of reasons, including isolating, we had not been to Savage Mill in a number of years. Our daughter recently suggested we meet there for lunch and shopping and I'm so glad she did! Many of our old favorite shops were still there including Artcraft, Bearing Gifts, and The Antique Center. There were some additions that were new to us. As we were entering the building from the large parking lot we saw people carrying cases that didn't look familiar to us. There was a room right inside where fencing classes were being held, We thought that must explain those mysterious cases, they were carrying the fencing equipment. Also new to us was a ceramic studio offering lessons. In another building there was another studio that had some ceramic items for sale and also a work area. I asked if the two studios were owned jointly and was told they were. Rams Head restaurant has been replaced by Dive Bar & Grill, which we were anxious to try. It did not disappoint. Near a small courtyard close to Bearing Gifts there is an area where there have been several casual eateries, which have since closed. The food service area was curtained off and there was a table in front with some packaged goods for sale such as tea and condiments. A very enthusiastic woman told us that they were moving into the space this spring. She said their shop, "More than Java Cafe", was currently located in the town of Savage and they were very excited to be moving into the Mill. She said they would have coffees but also carry sandwiches and other food items. We really enjoyed our day and now that life is going back to normal we will definitely be going back to explore some more and enjoy a cup of coffee at the Java Cafe. read more

I went to Girls Night Out last week at Savage Mill in Savage, MD. These events happen through out the year. They are free to attend. When you arrive at the welcome table, they give you a tote bag with a 5 dollar coupon that can be used at any participating stores in the buliding, and free glass of wine of your choice. Some of the stores give out free samples. I have been to a couple of them. They are nice and fun to attend. It's something to do with your girlfriends, solo, or with family. This is a great place to meander and have lunch - the mall is small and the shops are uniquely Savage Mill - they even have a fencing gym and it is pretty cool - the antique shops are great and like I said it is a great place to wonder aimlessly on a weekend afternoon - they have a bakery and it is awesome! TIP: Be prepared to find gems and treats to eat! Savage Mill houses shopping, food and lovely outdoor seating. Although, there are numerous shops and places to eat my main visit to Savage Mill was to the Antique Center. I explored the large Antique Center that has so many gems from clothing, collectibles, decorations, shoes, furniture and more. I found myself walking through every isle of the large center. I highly recommend planning a trip to visit this shop. You'll be surprised by what you'll find. PARKING: Free parking lot in the front of the facility. Savage Mill is a neat place to visit and shop. We have been here a number of times over the years. I love to browse in the antique shop at Savage Mill. I also enjoy browsing in the shops. Be prepared to spend several hours here just to quickly get through the place. There is a lot to see and do here. They also have restaurants and food but we have never gotten food here. One time we did try to get dinner at the restaurant but it was too busy so we went elsewhere. Lots of parking. Clean bathrooms. Lots of antiques and specialty shop items to look at and browse. Covering artifacts from all continents n all cultures, the huge show hall with many rooms is overwhelming. Anybody with whatever tastes should be able to find something interesting! We made a run to Savage Mill this afternoon, on a very chilly January day. We had not been there for several years. They have an interesting variety of shops. We browsed the antique shops, watched a bride modeling wedding dresses, and ate lunch at Rams Head Tavern. The parking lot was full by 12:30 so we parked out on the street. We were looking for a specific type of furniture piece, but the antique shops have a very nice variety of items, including vintage clothing, jewelry, silver, etc. We ended up finding exactly what we were looking for at Fox Run Antiques. It is well worth a visit, and you should allow time to wander. read more

Once, long ago, there was a reason to visit this quaint " out of the way" place. No more. Not today. There's little to see unless you need an old clock fixed: Hands of Time is legendary. Everything else...well I just don't understand what or who The Mill is. They seem to change stores every month or so. A bakery but no bread? Go figure! Went recently to get my watch repaired: The store was there but no personnel. No signage. No indication if he went to Las Cruces and will be returning anytime soon. The ice cream place is gone as is the Bear shop replaced by a hot mess of a store with no clue as to what or who they are. Stuff all over the place. Lots of vacant stores . Oh yes there's a candle maker ... but there are countless of those stores around. Do we really need another? Then there was little Lucy Handmaker (or something like that) sitting alone in a lovely store which was a misfit for The Mill. Sadly, shoppers were scant. I could count them on half a hand. Parking can be a bit tight at times so plan for your peak hour trouble spots. Nice shopping and kitschy items. Decent food at Rams Head. Lovely historic atmosphere, great use of an old mill. This is such a fun use for a massive mill. The first few times I went I was in wonder at how such a huge shopping center could have pretty much street parking and a tiny lot. This year I finally took the time to read the signs and learned that there is another small parking lot and then a massive one if you just follow the signs. The bigger lot looks like you're driving into a residential neighborhood, but it winds back and puts you not far from the entrance. Inside you'll find lots of kitschy shops, one of the two clock repair shops in town (that also sells a massive number of every type of clock imaginable), a bakery, a restaurant, a high end chocolate shop, a board game store, a consignment shop, a wedding dress shop, a couple antique shops and a high ropes course (the course is outside). Even during the christmas rush, Savage mills doesn't get too crazy, which makes this a relaxing throw back alternative to the mall. read more

My car was damaged here and the operations manager Erin was very rude unfriendly and unhelpful unlike Mike who was extremely helpful and also helped put my bumper back on and then fixed the said parking spot they knew too be negligent on their part where my car was damaged. Hidden gem. I'm so bummed we just discovered the awesomeness of Savage Mill so recently. It's really fantastic There are approx 3 or 4 food options. Tons of walking, shopping, perusing options. You could easily spend the day here with ur big or small family. Old and young. I loved the artist section and supporting all the photographers. It's very low cost cause parking is free and all the stores encourage window shopping and chatting. Dude, we're gonna come back here every other week. It's super pretty with the greenery, historic hallways and antique stores. My little 3 yr old ran around and had too much fun. The antique store owners were worried though. Sorry guys. I stumbled across this little shopping mall while looking for a vintage store for Halloween inspiration. I got a little lost (in a good way) wandering through the halls, from building to building and peaking in every store to see what gems may be hidden. I do have to say i have never understood why people like to go "antiquing" until i stepped into an antique shop in this mall. It was filled of all of these things I never knew i wanted or even existed.. looking for a traditional authentic kimono? You can find one here. Need a 1940s telephone for decor? You can find one here! There are so many awesome things! I walked past a bridal consignment shop that was wall to wall with bridal gowns, and bridesmaid dresses. I even stopped for a bit to admire a young lady trying on the dress for her special day, she looked beautiful! I even noticed they had a game area where you can take your children to play board games and other things! aside from the "shopping" type shops there are also professional services (makeup, photography, insurance, etc.. ) and food! I didn't get a chance this time to try Rams Head but I stopped in Bonaparte Breads for a snack and a coffee and was not disappointed! I second Suzanne's compliments for the Savage Mill. The Mill was a peaceful and interesting place to visit on a Sunday while driving from Baltimore to DC. It has been pleasantly remade into an assortment of shops, restaurants, and artisan displays. Typically, such places are turned into little more than tourist traps, but the creative design and presence of crafts and craft-makers ensure that the Mill is more than just a consumer haven. There is something for just about everyone here. I also give high marks for the restaurant in the back of Mill. The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive, and there was live music for Sunday brunch. While the music was pleasant, the intrusive and overbearing (at times) noise of air conditioning units underneath the porch made conversation and music appreciation a challenge. There's a view of a meandering creek from the porch, but we could not hear it above the a/c. How could this have been overlooked in the design of the restaurant? Once this issue is addressed, I would say the Mill probably deserves 5-stars for the assortment of shops, quaintness of the structure, quality of the food, and peacefulness of its location. read more

This is a VERY special mall. Not only is it a place to shop, but it's a place to visit. To appreciate. The wooden floors and brick exterior welcome you into a homey environment. As you enter, you step into the past. Renovated from an old textile mill into what it is currently today, its got a special historic feel to it, and if you read my other reviews, you'll know that I just love that! The shops are great and unique. I recommend Hands of Time, Vibrant Artwear, and Bearing Gifts. There are no huge crowds, but it's not devoid of life in any way, which makes it so cool. I can't understand why it's not packed, but I'm grateful that it isn't! The eatery is also a great place to go to eat, and there are several restaurants. You truly must see this place to believe it! The old textile mill is still very evident in the mall that is housed in these old buildings. The architechture is very cool and so are the little shops that inhabit the old building. There are a few places to eat. There are a couple of cool little boutiques; the best family game store on the planet is here. Terrapin adventures is really cool and kids (even the big 40+ year old kids) love climbing. In fact if you can't find something that is up your alley adn is fun here check your pulse. read more

The very first time I visited this place was when I came to Jessup, MD for my interview and I immediately fell in love with this and place and surrounding savage trail and lovely houses. Now, I live very close to this place. Its a historic place essentially a mill turned into the shopping complex with local small businesses like antique store, couple restaurants. I Love wondering in and around the complex. The corridors remind me of old architect especially with long corridors and stairs running up and down. The owners of most of the store are very friendly. You can totally spend a day here doing window shopping followed by happy hour at Ram's head tavern followed by evening walk at the savage mill trail which runs alongside the river. read more
