He didn't approve of my getting my kitty's meds from Chewy (drastically lower cost) or the local compounding pharmacy. Her initial prescription was ordered by his cooperating pharmacy on the east coast. 2 click pens were paid for (per my call to that pharmacy) but I was only given 1, yet paid for 2, later the 2nd was "given to me as a courtesy". The estimate was lowered from $610 to just under $200 for shots and weight, no exam. My little girl was howling and hissing after being manhandled. The building is deteriorating, walkway broken up with lots of debris, lots of scratches and chips in exam rooms, lots of overpriced "products" for sale, staff is harried and seemingly overwhelmed. We are moving on.

Having had bad…read moreveterinary experiences before, I was a little fussy about who I wanted to care for my animal. I found West Towne Veterinary online and went to check it out. I got there right before closing and Dr. Ken was kind enough to take time out of his evening to tell me about their cat friendly practice and show me around the clinic, including the areas that they perform surgeries and teeth cleanings. Dr. Ken has now been daisy's vet for the past three years and I can't say enough about the exceptional care they have provided to her! From the friendly office staff, to getting her in for emergency appointments... they even have cat boarding and a cat gym! They also offer "cats night out" events where your cat can socialize with other cats and you can learn information on how to better care for your pet. And to top everything off, Dr. Ken is one of those veterinarians that paddle boards and home brews. Can't beat that-- I wouldn't go anywhere else!

They explain the costs of medicine and tests before doing them, which is also really nice. Their fees were reasonable from what I'm used to (but I'm from the east coast so I'm used to really high vet costs). What I think is reasonable and what someone from the area thinks is reasonable might not be the same thing. I also liked that they use email to communicate. Finally, they were able to get a mistake corrected on my dog's rabies certificate by contacting her last vet - this meant she didn't get a shot she didn't need, and I'm grateful for that. The office was reasonably clean, and didn't smell bad. The staff were all super friendly, and I felt like they cared about my dogs.

Despite the fact that my dog has had 9 appointments in the last year due to diabetes care and other issues. I have spent $3,726 at True Veterinary in the last few years. And they cut me off from prescription insulin, without which my dog will die. Imminently. This is like extortion: pay up $300 for another "wellness check," even though he has been examined 9 times in the past year. Criminal. I trusted this vet with my dog's life and they have prioritized profit over his very survival.

I told them that our dog ,that my husband was holding, suddenly was walking like a drunkard and something was really wrong with her hind legs. We quickly called our daughter who is a vet in Maryland, who quickly told us to leave with our crying dog, and go to Madison, don't wait. An hour later when we arrived in Madison, she couldn't walk and had no pulse in her back legs . She was close to death. Within an hour she was diagnosed with an aortic thromboembolism,(blood clot). They treated her right away for it. Within a week, with her prescribed medication, she was running around in the back yard, chasing squirrels and rabbits. If your so called 24 emergency clinic in your town, cannot see your dog right away, go to UW in Madison.

Despite local emergency hospitals being fully booked and unable to admit her for several hours on Labor Day 2026, UW Veterinary Care admitted and treated our puppy upon arrival. The front desk staff, Samantha, the veterinary student, Kinga, the DVM, and everyone else we worked with courteously and efficiently answered our questions while providing Mirana with excellent care and treatment. The facilities are incredible and truly reflective of UW-Madison's reputation. I would highly recommend UW Veterinary Care to anyone seeking high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective veterinary care.

I will find a vet who is concerned about providing efficient, well trained staff, not lecturing clients about who to act when such service is not provided. Find a vet who is professional and friendly to take care of your pets, not someone looking for a confrontation over nothing. Huge red flag here.

We had already taken her to our…read moreregular vet multiple times and it had been determined that she had pancreas cancer that was causing insulin to be released continuously, causing her blood sugar to drop so low she would have seizures. We tried controlling her diet for a few weeks, but were unable to keep her from having more seizures. She was in bad shape and getting worse, and we decided that she needed to be put to sleep to stop her suffering. We were going to go in the next day to our regular vet. My gf woke me up about 5 am and said she couldn't get her blood sugar up to get her out of the seizure and we needed to go now. So we needed a 24 hour vet. So we opted to make the 45 minute drive to Madison. We tried calling the entire drive there and 15 minutes before. Probably at least 5 times throughout the drive and no one would answer. When we got there we explained that we were looking to have her put down as quickly as possible as she was in horrible shape and suffering severely. She couldn't bend her legs or sit normally, and had completely relieved herself uncontrollably on the drive. Making horrible sounds at full volume. I thought the process would be to just have the vet come to the car and do it there as that's something some vets offer. They don't, whatever. They strapped her to a cart which was horrible as she wasn't able to bend her legs so it basically forced her to the cart. They took her in and wheeled her to the back. Which I found completely unnecessary as now she was just going to be more afraid being taken from her family. They gave me a form to fill out. I asked what all these boxes I was supposed to check were, about if she should be revived and they could do whatever to stabilize her. I said no, as we just wanted to end her suffering as quickly as possible. I was told it was just a formality so they could get her ready for the euthanasia. So I signed it. Then we sat in the waiting room for 15 minutes while we tried to figure out what the hell they were doing. We were the only customers there with about 5 people on staff. The receptionist sat chatting on her cell phone with a personal call the entire time. Interesting that they wouldn't answer the phone when we called. Then they moved us to a separate room, and had someone come in with some forms. It's the pricing. $130ish for the euthanasia. Plus $200 for stabilizing her. I was immediately pissed, and asked FOR WHAT? We said we just wanted to have her put down! The woman started in with her funeral director voice, "Well, we know, but we just want to make sure we've exhausted every available option for our peace of mind." Well isn't that nice. You've kept my dog suffering for an extra 35 minutes for your peace of mind. Or maybe it's because you were having a slow day and saw an opprunity to extort your only customer out of an extra $200 for services they specifically said they didn't want. I singed the bill. I knew then it was BS. But what was I supposed to do. They had my dog, she was terrified, she was suffering horribly, and the only was to end it was to let them win. They told me not to worry because she was stabilized and doing better. I told them to get my dog back here now. They wheeled her in shortly after. She was still in a seizure as she still could not bend her legs and completely disoriented. They said they'd give us some time and to let them know when we were ready. I said we're ready now. We can deal with our emotions later, the only thing I wanted to stop was her suffering. The doctor came in shortly after and was very professional and did a great job. It would have been a 5 star service, had they taken us directly to that room and gave us the identical service that we finally received in the first place. Even if they just did that exactly and just charged us the full $330 for the euthanasia and said that's the price. Fine, so be it. But having to jump through all of those hoops, using our dogs suffering as leverage to extort an extra $200 out of us was flat out evil. I hate this place. It was 4 months ago. And when I think of my dog, I don't think of happy memories, or sadness for her being gone. I feel a deep rage thinking about how awful her ending was. Then a week later we received a sympathy card personally signed by all the staff and it just pissed me off more. You can stick your cheap phony sympathy where the sun doesn't shine. You didn't give two shits about our dog's well being. Just how many dollars you could squeeze out of us. If you want $330 for putting a dog down, then just charge that and skip the BS. Any other circumstances, I would of called this BS out and fought it. But when they have suffering hostage, and they only way to end it, is to submit, you swallow your pride. And they know it, and they build their policies around it.
