West Towne Veterinary Center - Our monthly Cat's Night Out events are very popular!

When I moved to the west side of Madison I was in need of a closer vet for my cat. Having had bad…read moreveterinary experiences before, I was a little fussy about who I wanted to care for my animal. I found West Towne Veterinary online and went to check it out. I got there right before closing and Dr. Ken was kind enough to take time out of his evening to tell me about their cat friendly practice and show me around the clinic, including the areas that they perform surgeries and teeth cleanings. Dr. Ken has now been daisy's vet for the past three years and I can't say enough about the exceptional care they have provided to her! From the friendly office staff, to getting her in for emergency appointments... they even have cat boarding and a cat gym! They also offer "cats night out" events where your cat can socialize with other cats and you can learn information on how to better care for your pet. And to top everything off, Dr. Ken is one of those veterinarians that paddle boards and home brews. Can't beat that-- I wouldn't go anywhere else!

He didn't approve of my getting my kitty's meds from Chewy (drastically lower cost) or the local compounding pharmacy. Her initial prescription was ordered by his cooperating pharmacy on the east coast. 2 click pens were paid for (per my call to that pharmacy) but I was only given 1, yet paid for 2, later the 2nd was "given to me as a courtesy". The estimate was lowered from $610 to just under $200 for shots and weight, no exam. My little girl was howling and hissing after being manhandled. The building is deteriorating, walkway broken up with lots of debris, lots of scratches and chips in exam rooms, lots of overpriced "products" for sale, staff is harried and seemingly overwhelmed. We are moving on.

We then received an email that we were dropped from their services. Looks like a blessing in disguise. We don't need to tolerate a Vet Don't Care clinic.

When we moved to the area and needed a new vet I received several recommendations for Black Earth…read moreVet Clinic, so I'm surprised to see only one review here. My Boston Terrier suffers from year-round allergies to both environmental and food elements. This was the first vet that suggested an injection instead of a daily pill. Not only was the injection less traumatic than pills for my dog, it was also less expensive. Because we were in here at least every 6 weeks for the allergy injection, we got to meet most of the staff. We were always greeted with enthusiasm and kindness, they seemed genuinely excited to see my dog. The techs and the doctors never rushed us and always took the time to listen to my concerns. They also offered a lot of knowledge along the way. Their prices are very fair and they never charged me for an office visit when we were there solely for an injection. During a yearly examination it was discovered that my little guy had a fractured tooth and would need it pulled. I was overly paranoid about him being put under anesthesia and when I dropped him off for surgery, the staff could tell. They were so incredibly nice and assured me that he would be fine. While he was getting ready for surgery they recommended they pull some other teeth to avoid future issues. They kept me informed before, during and after the procedure and made sure I understood exactly what they were doing. When I came to pick him up the staff told me that he got some extra attention during recovery, as they brought him to the front to hang out with them. I can't tell you how much that put my heart at ease. Dr. Leslie performed an at-home euthanasia for our neighbor's dog who had been suffering from cancer. She encouraged our dog, the neighbor dog's buddy, to be there during his last breaths. Everything about this clinic and their staff is wonderful....with one very small exception. There is one woman who answers the phone often and she can come off as quite rude/short. It's a little off-putting when you're not expecting it but easily looked past if you make it into the clinic to meet the rest of the staff. I would, and still do, recommend them to anyone in the area.

Dr Sarah cleaned it up, discussed options and what she recommended. When she had a problem a week ago with her GI tract, they were responsive in helping me with that as well. Dr. Jacki prescribed meds and listened to what Payton has taken before. She was very understanding about the fact that Payton is a thin girl and simply does not gain weight.....no judging (when we went for our initial check up). She also saw our cat, Sylvie, for a wellness check and meds. Sylvie can be a bit of a queen at times, but the staff said she was good. Last fall, my guy was not doing well, I wanted to let him be pain free without having to prove he was ready....I knew. We moved here not all that long ago and I was looking for a good fit for us. I called True Vet, explained what was going on and what I felt. They were so understanding. When we arrived they had all the treats he could ever want, but could or should not have. He was in heaven eating them. Dr Amelia was patient and listened to me babble on about my guy. I truly can not say enough about how wonderful the doctors and staff are. I never thought I would find a clinic like we had before moving to the Madison area.
