We rented a canoe and took it to the lighthouse and back. It wasn't a bad ride until we got closer to the Hudson, and then you'd feel the motion in the water from the boats going down the river. $60 for two hours. I wish they had a small dingy to rent. Also, make sure you wear proper attire, because when we were leaving we saw a couple going out kayaking, and they were dressed like they were going out on a casual date. read more

I did a two-hour kayak rental here and had a great experience! My boyfriend and I went here after finding it on Yelp without a reservation, and the owner got us set up right away without having to wait. We weren't familiar with the area so he showed us a map and explained where we should go. It was so easy and we had an amazing time! Casey runs this marina, and he facilitated all of our boating needs when we were up in the area. He is very laid back! My son and I went out in kayaks three times, and my son went out in a motor boat with his dad as well. Casey showed the boys how to run the boat, and spent some time on board to make sure they had everything down. Prices are very reasonable, and Casey is great to deal with. Called this place to rent a pontoon. Owner KC told us it was too windy that day so we should try the next day. We had other plans so decided to try the following weekend. Again called owner, s/w him and he said conditions were great so we were going to go down but then he said he only had it available for about an hour as he had reservations on it so we agreed, the owner and I, that we would try for the following day. AT NO TIME DID HE EVER ONCE MENTION WE NEEDED A RESERVATION AND/OR NEEDED TO PROVIDE HIM WITH A DEPOSIT. NOT ONCE IN ALL THE CALLS BACK & FORTH OVER TWO SEPARATE WEEKENDS. Called him at 10:10 (he opens at 10) and got his v/m. Left him the message we were on our way. Get there and his demeanor was totally different than what it was on the phone. I introduced myself and he said he got my message. He then proceeded to ask me if I had a reservation. ??? He then said he had to help some other folks and he would be with us shortly. He then comes over and says, again, we needed a reservation and that he needs a deposit. AGAIN, NEVER MENTIONED TO US. EVER. We were there. We were going to pay. What does it matter now?? Then he stalls us again asking who is going to drive the pontoon? Do we just want a ride around? I said my cousin will drive it. He knows how to drive. He asks him directly and my cousin assures him, listing all the types of watercraft he's driven before, a pontoon among them. Then he comes up with, "Let's go down to the pontoon and I'll give him a driving test." WT??? SERIOUSLY. We walk down there in the 90 heat and as we approach the pontoon I notice it's in really crappy shape. The upholstery is all ripped, the boat is dirty...w.e. We wanted to take a ride on the Hudson Sunday a.m. We're nearly about to board and he AGAIN says he thinks he's got a reservation on it already. Mind you, this took place over the span of about 45 minutes to an hour. When we first got there if he truly had a res. on it, he would have immediately let us know. In addition, when I called and left him the message he acknowledged receipt of it - why didn't he call me and let me know then? A good business person would be considerate and courteous to his customers. NO. He chose to tell us that he looked in his book and yes, indeed, he had a reservation and would not be able to rent us the pontoon. No, I'm sorry, let me make it up to you, next time you come down I'll give you an hour on the house, no, I"m sorry, I should have called you but was super busy and totally forgot about the reservation. Nothing. NADA. He seemed to have some type of prejudice against my cousin and me and I am going to take him to task further for this as I am handicapped and find this behavior unacceptable. this past weekend was rainy but we decided to chance it and called the marina asking if they had 2 man kayaks and allowed small dogs. I made arrangements to broker my boat through Casey. Asking price was $5500. Left the boat with him for the summer with no offer. Full disclosure: did not speak with him for two years, as I figured he would contact me if there were any offers. When I spoke to him yesterday, he told me he had sold the boat for $1,000. No bill of sale, no phone call to let me know he had sold the boat, no nothing. All I heard were excuses. Do I bear some of the blame here? Absolutely. If you are selling a boat through a marina, keep in touch with them. They may do to you what Casey did to me: accept a lowball offer without giving any consideration to the seller's best interests. I took my wife out on the Hudson River for her birthday. We have gone kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming in the Hudson. Today we tried motor boating! It was great! We found this place online. Casey is the owner/operator and he was very friendly and helpful. He showed us the boats we could rent and told us the different rates for each one. He has 3 pontoon boats and one 6 person motor boat. It was just my wife and I so we went for the 6 person motor boat. It was a 91 degree day and that boat didn't have a canopy. Casey suggested we take a detachable Bimini. He said to only put it up if we were stopped because the speed of the boat would rip it. That Bimini was a life saver from the heat when we stopped for lunch on the river. Before we went out Casey gave me a quick lesson on starting and stop the boat, turning and backing up, and where I should be in the channel while motor boating on the river. He gave us a map, 2 life vests and we were off. We packed some sandwiches which we purchased at Brine Barrel Pickle Company 237 Partition St Saugerties NY and a couple of cold ones to go with lunch from the Speedy Mart. We went for a 4 hr trip up and down the Hudson and Casey told us not to worry about getting back rt on time. He said "No one punches a clock here". The boat ran perfectly. It was easy to start up after our 1 hour lunch break and we went back to site seeing and just having fun! If your in the area I would recommend the boat rental stop. They have kayaks, standup paddle board, motor boats, pontoon boats, and a guide if you want to go water skiing or tubing! read more

If I could give no stars for the guy who runs this place I would! My family rented a pontoon boat from him two years ago and we had one of the best days on the river! The owner couldn't have been more agreeable and easy going! One year later we book two pontoon boats for another trip and our experience couldn't have been worse! We were a little bit late and for some reason he had his knickers in a twist. He tried to hustle an extra captains fee out of us for one of the boats even though we had two people with captains licenses for each boat. Not wanting to pay an extra $150.00 on top of the already $500.00 we were already dropping on the two boats we felt as if he was taking advantage of us. He then told us that he wouldn't let us take the boats at all unless we took his captain which to be honest felt like a hustle. After telling us that he was not charging us he's attempted to charge our card twice! Each time I've contested the charge with my cc company! This dude is to be avoided at all costs! A little Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! Total jerk and that's putting it mildly! read more

Finding a place that rents boats, especially fishing boats equipped with electric trolling motors, is very difficult to find. This marina has one and is fully equipped and ready to go on arrival. Casey is very helpful in suggesting where to go, along with tidal and current conditions (and concerns) on the inlet and on the Hudson. read more

I've been a customer for 4 years and the service has fallen from exceptional to abysmal. This season (as in the past) I booked a pontoon boat in early May for a mid June trip. Unfortunately over two weeks prior to the trip my plans were changed. When I called to make the reservation they took my credit card for a $100 deposit. There was zero explanation of cancellation policies. When I called to cancel I was told by the owner (Casey) that the deposit was non-refundable! Ridiciulous. I explained that his employee did not tell me about the policy - and he agreed saying that he was there. He told me that it was my burden to ask. He said it was on his website (which I did not go to) and that I should have gone to it. You cannot book on his website, so why bother?? I explained that I was a long time customer and he didn't care at all. I said, 'do you really want to lose a customer?' His response: 'That's going to hurt you more than it will hurt me.' Unreal. So, I asked him politely to refund my money and he refused. So, I opened a dispute with American Express and they agreed that the merchant MUST make any cancellation policies known verbally when taking reservations over the phone. I will NEVER go back. Such a shame. Year 1 was exceptional. Year 2 was good - but they swapped in a smaller (but newer) boat because they double booked the larger boat. Year 3 was 'ok' - the boat engine was provided to us with an incorrect trim, so it ran slowly. Year 4 - terrible. read more

The quality of the boat was very good and it was clean. The engine seemed to run very well. The organization of the business is fair to poor; we waited some time for assistance. However guidance and advice was very poor bordering on dangerous. No charts of the river are provided and no manuals for the boat, only a picture of the river from the lighthouse. If you are very familiar with the river navigation and do not need charts or navigational aids of any kind, and if you are highly familiar with outboard engine operation, then this is the marina for you. My family and I are quite lucky we were not injured. After I had to wade through the river and pull the boat myself to deeper water (I had asked for charts), I made the honest mistake of saying I may have damaged the prop, after which we were promptly charged an additional $200 (as the next family were motoring out of the marina on the "damaged" prop) and warned that we could have been charged much more. I feel lucky that no one in my family was injured and we're taking this as a lesson. read more
