Sons of American Revolution Conference site We have greatly enjoyed National Conferences in US from Boston to San Francisco, and it is a joy to attend the Sons of American Revolution Conference at Sauder's Village in Archbold. Always something about hotel lobbies, fireplaces, and good friends that is satisfying. The Friday night buffet is BBQ, and following a week of Great Smokies's dining, we were eager to enjoy "German style" meals. Brisket was better than southern; pulled pork had no flavor; ribs were burned; great salad bar; very few veggies. Rustic-style hotel located within the Sauder Village complex, featuring an indoor pool with a waterfall, complimentary hot breakfast, and charming timber-frame architecture. Hotel is on par with nice Ohio State Park property. Our room was a suite - large inclusive living room with Great Bed. Also a special sun room is attached. Great services and service folks. Caveat: avoid rooms in pool area; we like children, but even one high pitched voice fills an area. Highly recommend. read more

I came here with a group of people to see the village. When we walked in, there was a big seating area. We also saw the front counter and checked in. My room was very clean. I wasn't used to the bed, but I was able to get some sleep. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo and conditioner. They do have soap and lotion as well. There is no coffee machine in the room, but free coffee can be found in the kitchen area by the big tree. The Inn provides free breakfast. They had food items such as bagels, waffles, muffins, fruit, cereal, and more. I don't usually like breakfast at hotels so I did not each much. Additionally, there is a pool area with a hot tub. They also have a game room. I didn't get a chance to go to the game room. They do have rooms you can rent for events. We saw a crafting event and a wedding while we were here. Overall, this is an awesome Inn and I enjoyed my time. I would like to revisit with my family. read more

Such an enjoyable stay at this quaint and cozy inn. The lobby was beautifully decorated for the holidays, with a roaring fire in the large fireplace. Plenty of free parking and an easy check in experience. The rooms are large and all have Sauder furniture in them. Property was spotless. This is my go to location for a great nights sleep. First, the employees are so nice and welcoming. Very helpful with information and accommodations. The rooms are very clean and nicely kept, especially the bathrooms. Tons of fresh towels and sparkly clean surfaces. The inn is very large and spread out so I don't ever hear any other guests in the parking lot or the pool, it is super quiet. The shower water pressure and spray is solid which is important to me. The beds are comfortable, not the ultimate but good. Your room stay comes with breakfast (6am) which is eggs and a breakfast meat with varying other home made items. Juice, coffee, fruit, all kinds of toast options and a yogurt cereal bar. Tons of seating and plenty of fresh options. Sometimes they have cinnamon roles which are delicious. I am a fan. read more

Absolutely beautiful inn! There were homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for us when we checked in (made at their on site bakery, The Dough Box). The staff was accommodating & it was so nice to see employees who really care. The indoor pool is big & the hot tub is spacious also. The breakfast was delicious & filling. Our room was supplied with hand soap, bar soap, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner...pretty nice! We walked around the inn & the decor is stunning with homemade quilts on display, beautiful artwork & cozy furniture that invites you to plop down with a good book. In the lobby, there is a freezer full of various ice cream bars for sale if you get a midnight craving LOL. My husband & I loved the peacefulness of this inn & are already planning a return trip. read more

This place is nice and big for large family gatherings, but the employees here are miserable and not pleasant to be around. When checking in, the lady looked very miserable and was not very friendly. Later that first night our family was sitting in the large lobby area waiting on our pizza to arrive and we literally got yelled at for "laughing too loud". Which is just ridiculous in itself, but we were not even being that loud. Then the next day 4 of my cousins were in the game room playing ping pong (ages 10-13) and they got yelled at for "laughing to loud" again. Then they got yelled at for playing PING PONG "too rough". A minimum-wage security guard at the Inn (who obviously wishes he could be a real cop) named JOSH caused a huge scene with some of my family members. Josh was very unprofessional, unkind, and rude to my family. So overall, if you're looking for friendly service and kind employees, do NOT go to the Heritage Inn. Josh is a DONKEY. read more

My wife and I stayed for a Romantic Getaway. Staff was extremely helpful, enjoyed the food at the Barn Restaurant right next door. Ok the good, the bad and the ugly.. The place is nice and clean, free continental breakfast, which is just ok and very limited. Nice pool with jacuzzi. The bad... Breakfast: Choice of cereal, yogurt with fruit, sausage and scrambled eggs with some sauce that I didn't even try, looked like puke, sorry. Coffee was terrible, diluted, tasted yucky. No milk, just small packet creamers. The ugly: I could not shut the drapes properly because it was missing the pin. Rooms are a bit outdated. I did not have my room cleaned the whole 3 nights I stayed!! After I inquired, they said they will find out what is going on, but never heard from them. If you want to hear something in microwave get ready for plastic plates. It took me 20 min to get regular ones and it was a hassle. Tv went out couple of times and WIFI is terrible! Consider it barely working. I do not think I'll stay here again. Holliday inn here I come :) read more

We stayed at Sauder Inn for a wedding! I was shocked at how large the complex was! So much to do and see! Had morning donuts at the bakery, which was packed! They were good just very heavy! We took a walk through the campgrounds!if you are a camper it looked like a great place to go - very big and clean! We checked out the furniture store and wow has Sauder furniture come a long way! Beautiful stuff! There was a village we wanted to check out but was $20 per person so we decided not to, but it was packed so it must be a good thing to do if looking for something while staying there! The reception was at the Founders Hall! Was a nice venue for a wedding! The hotel was ok ... it was definitely dated but clean! I gave it 3 stars because a little updating would be nice! read more

Extremely pleasantly surprised. The place was very clean, especially important in these COVID times. The room was large, had all the standard amenities and most important for sports viewing, the TV in the room was a very substantial size. Very quiet. Strict rules were posted for when quiet time began, including a notice that children needed to be accompanied by adults (i.e., no running sprints up and down the hallway by unaccompanied minors as we have seen (regrettably) at some other hotels). The breakfast area was nice and spread out and the buffet was very COVID friendly with things mostly all prewrapped. Would we book this place again? Definitely. read more

Beautiful rooms. Friendly staff. The inn offered a bereavement rate. The lotions and soaps provided smelled wonderfully. It was strange to eat breakfast next to the pool. It was very humid and the chlorine smell was very strong. The breakfast on the weekend was great, waffles, French toast, veggie frittata, sausage biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, and the usual continental fare. They also offered pastries from the DoughBox, which are always phenomenal. Most disappointing was the bagged coffee dispenser. There's something about real coffee that can't be matched! read more

Despite being in the middle of nowhere, this is a quite nice hotel. The rooms were fairly large, the pool was very large, and the breakfast was quite tasty. While here, the barn restaurant is in walking distance, and the sauder village is right next store. Other than that... There is just corn and soybeans. The only thing I would say to improve here would be the TVs. Tube TVs are well... Outdated. If they put in some flat screens, I would surely rate this place 5 stars. read more

A pretty place and setting was nice, but the hotel was SO LOUD! We had to get a room close to the elevator on the main floor for handicapped reasons. Every night over the weekend from 11p-1a I heard people talking in the lobby or could hear the thumping of people walking in their room above us. It was especially loud when someone ran up or down the lobby stairs it shook the room. I had earplugs but they didn't help. This place must have been built without any insulation. Our room was not cleaned just picked up. The morning breakfast bar was nice. Lots of options; scrambled eggs, sausage gravy, frittata, bagels, delicious donuts, waffles, cereal, fresh cut fruit bar. Flavored creamer for your coffee. You do have to give your room number to get to the breakfast bar. The water here tastes very chlorinated, you can buy bottled at the front desk for $1.50. read more

We stayed here over Thanksgiving (we have family in the area). I was pretty much told where I was staying so I did not know anything about it prior to going. It really is in the middle of nowhere. Check in went smoothly and the rooms were nice and clean. The swimming pool smelled like an indoor swimming pool - which is kind of odd for a hotel. The daily buffet is essentially at the pool. I could see how some with sensitivities to smell may have problem with the strong chlorine smell. The breakfast was okay, pretty much all carbs :) I would suggest going to the Dough Box for amazing breakfast treats. The only problems I had was with the cellphone reception (I have AT&T) - I had none! It literally said "No Service." Other people I was with had Verizon and did not have an issue. I did not have a huge need for it, but when you are passing time it is nice to have the option to call someone. They do have free Wifi that was kind of "dicey" at times, but worked fine. The TVs were also old school "tube tvs" and i forgot how badly they suck - but that is really not a big deal. Overall, this is a really nice hotel in the middle of nowhere Especially for kids. The pool is really exciting for kids and a nice treat for the insanely cold Ohio winters. read more

This place is in the middle of nowhere, but my sister wanted to do a "family" vacation. We were able to take my parents, all the siblings, kids and even the dog. Rooms are reasonable, huge, and very clean. All have refrigerators and eating areas. My room which I thought I had to myself was crashed by my brother, his wife, their 2 kids, and 2 of my nephews, and we had plenty of space for a crib, 2 queens, a queen air mattress and a sleeping bag. The pool is inside, and there is a free game room that has old school ping pong, foosball, air hockey, and hoop shot. The only negatives I had were that the cleaning staff came by around 8am. Maybe it's farm time, but we were nowhere near getting up and going to have our room clean, and they never came back, even though we were gone most of the day. Also, breakfast had very few healthy options, mostly because it came from Doughbox Bakery which was onsite. It also seemed to run out quickly, as it is included. The lobby is really relaxing and pretty, very woodsy, which makes sense because it is owned by Sauder. There's a little gated (seriously) area with a tv and chairs where we put my nephews while we loaded up the car. Note: The campsite and grounds are super clean. My sister and her hubby stayed over there so it was a nice walk from the inn. Playgrounds and courts are kept up nicely and there is firewood for purchase on the honor system right at the front gate. Attended a conference - all rooms were booked. Room was nice, very large - so large that I had to move in bed closer to the TV to get the remote to work! Staff was very pleasant and professional. Daily maid service was quick, and professional. Issues * WIFI. Ridiculously slow....that's if you could get on! When I asked very pleasantly about it at the desk, I was told that the conference attendees were maxing out the system....(this is MY fault because....????). I realize I was staying in the "country" but I expected WIFI to be 'up to par' at this type of quality establishment. * Thank you for the continental breakfast - it was much more than I anticipated...but o Could it not be in an area where the smell of the chlorine in the pool practically makes one unable to breathe? o Due to the large number of attendees - we overwhelmed the breakfast so the very next day additional serving areas were set up - thanks...but the fruit was never expanded and still experienced long lines. read more

We just stayed here Saturday into Sunday, and I must say that this was one of the nicest stays we've had. We booked a package through their website which included admission to the Village and a dining credit. The little things here are what counted - things you may not think of but they did. Our room was in the "newer" side of the hotel, off the pool and breakfast area. We were in a handicap accessible room, even though we did not need the HA features. For one, I often find myself hunting around the bedside table for outlets. I travel with a CPAP and in too many chain hotels, I end up unplugging something to accommodate it, or pulling away a mattress to reveal years of accumulated dirt, sometimes having to string an extension cord across the room. Not here! Behind the table there were 4 unused outlets, right there. Second, the room was VERY clean. The bathroom was spotless, the sheets were fresh, and the carpet was in great shape. The mattress was comfortable with no lumps. Also -- no tube TV in here, a standard flat-screen with both HD and SD channels, and both my AT&T and Verizon cell phones worked fine. Third, the continental breakfast was fantastic. Not sure why people decide to complain about certain things - there really was nothing to find negative about this breakfast; yeah, it's continental so limited to certain things. 4 different types of crumble pastries, cinnamon rolls, Doughbox bakery bread, bagels, both of which were all individually wrapped! I thought that was another nice touch. Perfect biscuits and sausage gravy, not dry or hard at all. The pool was crowded at times and empty at times, we did not use it even though it was so close. We spent most of our day at Sauder Village. I could expand more on our experience overall here, but will limit the praise in this review to the Inn. We were so pleased with our weekend getaway that we will definitely return. Great job staff and management! read more

On Saturday Match 13th, We were enjoying ourselves at the pool. No body else in there to bother. It was around 1:30-2pm. We were playing a bit of music from our speaker we brought. playing appropriate music of course. the music was turned down very low that barley we could hear it. As this employee of the pool, she looked very nice, had some thick eyeliner on but had a lot of attitude towards us to keep the music down as it wasn't even Up that high. We still tried to enjoy our time but frustrated us so much. We just ended up leaving the pool and going back to our room. If she would have said it nicer we would have been fine. I don't understand why she had plenty of attitude towards us, as we were doing nothing wrong. just because your employees have a bad day, doesn't mean they have to take it out on us! We were trying to have a good day too! She mostly ruined it for us. Treat your employees better! read more

Excellent hotel with a small indoor waterfall. The husband and I were in town for a wedding reception which was within walking distance of this hotel and I truly did not expect the decor for the reasonable price we paid! The room was much larger than expected and the pool and hot tub were awesome and open late. FYI and breakfast was definitely better than your standard continental. Loved it so much we visited the area again for a birthday party and made a point to stay here - Sauder's has won a customer for life (whenever I'm in Ohio that is). :) read more

My husband & I decided to stay at this hotel based on the reviews we read here. We booked a room and then contacted the manager about making sure we didnt get an adjoining room. We were informed that king rooms in the new wing are ALL adjoining. We decided to change it to 2 queens the manager mentioned that we could keep it as we had it since they had alot of vacancy and if when we got there someone was going to be in the adjoining room we could change our room to the 2 queens at that time with no extra charge. We arrived to check in to a rude & unprofessional women who took forever to check us in and didnt tell us anything about the hotel/restaurant and didnt give us any paperwork until we asked. We saw a family to our left checking in who were treated so well and got all sorts of stuff on the hotel/restaurant without asking and they were doone checking in before us and we were there a good 5 or 10 minutes before them. We then went to our room and heard lots of noise coming from the adjoining room we called down to the front desk to mention what we were told and we were informed that they were booked but had 1 room they could move us to in the old wing with 2 queens but we would be charged more. We informed them of what we were told and that we had it in writing stating that if we had to move due to the fact of them putting someone in the adjoining room we would not be charged. The women who answered the phone we think was the women who checked us in she wouldnt let us move without charging us more so we stayed it that room and needless to say our night was not very good. read more

I stayed here one night for work and didn't have time to explore, but the hotel was one of the cleanest I've ever seen, the included breakfast was delicious and a step up from the traditional hotel breakfast, and the service was amazing. The included cookies were delicious--I just wish my trip happened a different week. The village, restaurant, and bakery were closed. I'd love to come back in June and see this place at full steam. The hotel was mostly quiet, staff took pains to keep noise to a minimum, but I had an interior room that overlooked the pool and some noise did drift up from kids enjoying the waterfall. This is a relatively new facility and it is certainly beautifully put together. The decor is simple, but well chosen and constructed. The rooms are cozy and equipped with modern amenities - including wifi. What sets this place apart Is the quality of the service and the obvious commitment of the staff to customer care. We have stayed here several times and have always had great service. A nice continental breakfast, plenty of space to spread out within the inn-amongst pleasant local artwork and extremely comfortable furnishings. This time, however, we suffered from severe weather in the campground next to Sauder village and the inn staff bent over backwards to help us feel safe, secure...and even provided upgraded rooms as a way of honoring their commitment to making our stay pleasant. Everyone was most accommodating and willing to make the effort to help us adjust to changing circumstances. I highly recommend a stay here if you are in the area. read more

The room was nice but we were told we would have a king room and ended up with a double queen that was not corrected. Check in went very well except getting to the room and finding that out. I also did not like all the campers coming over to use the pool. We asked for two wake up calls they were rude about the request but said ok never the less we never received even one wake up call. Wanted to write bc the photos and website for this place do not do it justice. It was a really pleasant surprise for us. Granted, we didn't have many choices bc this was where we were stopping on our long road trip, but it really was just right. We had a two queen room which was spotless with updated bath and a beautiful view of farmland. Very comfortable. The indoor pool is really nice, there is a free game room with air hockey, ping pong, foosball, my kids could have played here for hours if we hadn't spent so much time at Sauder Village. You need at least a full day to do it. The free breakfast buffet was amazing - lots of items from the wonderful bakery on site, plus tons of other food. We stuffed ourselves the night before at the Barn also. We took a long walk around the property to work it off, and the playground was very nice plus there is a sprayground and nice campground.
