Sons of American Revolution Conference site…read more We have greatly enjoyed National Conferences in US from Boston to San Francisco, and it is a joy to attend the Sons of American Revolution Conference at Sauder's Village in Archbold. Always something about hotel lobbies, fireplaces, and good friends that is satisfying. The Friday night buffet is BBQ, and following a week of Great Smokies's dining, we were eager to enjoy "German style" meals. Brisket was better than southern; pulled pork had no flavor; ribs were burned; great salad bar; very few veggies. Rustic-style hotel located within the Sauder Village complex, featuring an indoor pool with a waterfall, complimentary hot breakfast, and charming timber-frame architecture. Hotel is on par with nice Ohio State Park property. Our room was a suite - large inclusive living room with Great Bed. Also a special sun room is attached. Great services and service folks. Caveat: avoid rooms in pool area; we like children, but even one high pitched voice fills an area. Highly recommend.

This small airport used to serve as a nice, more navigable, lower stress alternative to DTW…read more Nowadays, however, it is a shell of what it used to be, and I find that extremely regrettable. It is too close to DTW, which cannibalizes much of TOL's would-be business, and the City of Toledo is not in the economic condition it used to be making it less attractive as an airline destination. I am hoping newer upstarts such as Avelo and Breeze (or similar future airlines) can help revive this and other airports like it. In the 80s and 90s, as many as seven airlines made use of TOL at any given time. The activity involved as many as 40 flights to 14 destinations. This small airport with its 9-gate terminal actually peaked in 1997 with nearly 689,000 passengers. Years of decline accelerated by the recession resulted in Amercan Airlines as the only remaining legacy airline by the mid-2010s. Traffic declined to well less than 200K passengers, but a mini boom started in 2015 led by the popularity of AA's TOL to Charlotte, NC route. This resulted in a peak of nearly 250K passengers in 2018. But then COVID happened and by 2022, AA was gone leaving just Allegiant's specialized service as the sole commercial operator. I started using the airport when I moved where I am currently in SE Michigan in 2005. I routinely took NW/Delta to DTW. There I connected to where I needed to go. Unfortunately, Delta pulled out in 2011. I used it a few more times to fly AA to ORD, but I can count those times on one hand. I loved using this airport for many reasons. It was much easier for my wife to drop me at and pick me up from TOL than from DTW. It was half the drive time from my home and it was much, much easier to get in and out of the facility. When I did need to park and fly, it was MUCH cheaper to do so relative to the usurious rates charged for parking at DTW. Check-in was a breeze and the security was easy. TSA was friendly and comparatively easy to deal with. I could get here an hour or even 45 minutes before flight time and still make my flight (not that I would have recommended doing so). And upon arrival, the small baggage claim area with just two carousels made luggage collection and getaway much quicker. I miss this easy alternative. Nowadays, I use TOL strictly for an occasional rental car pickup. The only airline operating from TOL is Allegiant, which specializes in FL vacation destinations. These are not where I typically need (or want) to go. It has probably been five or six years since I last flew from TOL. I hope at some point TOL can make a comeback. Somehow, the decline and demise of smaller airports just seems synonymous with faceless corporate smothering of America. This is a nice little airport that could serve a commercial purpose with just a little help, some imagination and less greed. A city of nearly 250K-plus people should have an airport of their own as a matter of pride, independence and identity. I realize economics drives decisions on these things, but perhaps having that as the overwhelming criterion for decision-making is part of the problem. But that's a discussion for another time.

The owner/manger is pretty hard to read and seems pretty grumpy but holy cow did he hook me up with one of the best military discounts ever!!! I stayed in this motel for about a week and spent less than I would have for one night at a snootie hotel that wouldn't have been anywhere near as clean. The owner of this establishment defiantly shows his support for the troops. Even if you are paying full price the rooms aren't a bad deal. If all you need is a place to rest your head that is nice and clean then this is the motel for you.

The bird nest in the WALL under the AC unit was a natural wake-up call. I am promted to add more. OK The bath linens were thread BARE. On a positive note there was enough hot water, TOO HOT if not careful. Talked to a FCS Deputy..... one of their least favorite addresses to respond to.

The location is actually good for the area (right down the street from Wal-Mart, grocery stores, and several restaurants). The only issue I had was the first set of keys did not work because the door battery was dead. The front desk person took care of it right away and there were no other issues. The place feels very homey. The tvs are a little older, but it had a lot of channels. The bed was actually very comfortable and the sheets seemed pretty clean. The ac system on the side worked well, but it was a little loud. Overall, this is the place to stay in Bryan and I would definitely go back.

What I thought would be 2 very different experiences ended up being very similar. Both instantly they let you play your own music. Obviously party music for the party bus. They provide ice and cups and water. The wine tour also offered sodas. BYOB and they provide bottle openers so you can enjoy your goodies. The wine tour took us to 3 wineries in 4 hours. Tight time schedule because the farthest winery is 45 minutes from Toledo and that trolley doesn't really go speed limit. I'm glad it doesn't because my butt was hurting from the uncomfortable seats but after the first stop and some drinks you don't feel it much anymore. We stopped at Leisure time winery, majestic winery and american winery. Limited food options. Only male on the trolley was the driver but he was a sweetie pie and put up with all the female chatter. Now you would think a trolley full of women would be pretty mild but we were dancing down the aisle by the second stop. Now the party bus has same offerings but the seating was much more plush. Comfortable seating with 2 levels so plenty of space. The anniversary couple chose the stops and it was more of a bar hop til 2am. Check my pics. It was a good time but I took an uber home about 1. Only so much alcohol u can consume in a 5 hour period. Team Johnson is definitely a well organized company. They post their events on eventbrite. I would definitely do one of their tours again. We have used their Town car service for rides to/from Detroit Airport for several years…read more They have always been early or waiting at baggage claim with our name on a sign board upon our return. They track your flight for delays or early arrival. The cars are always clean, drivers are professional and drive safe. Individual climate controls in back. Never a mechanical or other issue. The amount that they quote is all inclusive, tip, tax, airport parking fee etc.. The drivers help with suitcases. I didn't give them 5 stars because: They always show up early by about 15 minutes - which is ok - unless it's at 5 am and you're still getting dressed! I prefer that they ring the doorbell just 5 minutes early. They have a policy of picking you up at least 2.5 hrs prior to flight - 2.0 hours is plenty for us as we have expedited security etc. but we can't seem to override their "policy" without lying about our flight time... They charge an early morning add-on charge before 6 am. I think they should discount their rates before 6 am as there is no traffic so the trip is quicker/easier! Sometimes the drivers offer complimentary small water bottles - but it's not consistent. (it's a very nice touch - keep a case in the trunk) Paperwork, we always prepay on phone with credit card when making reservations but we still have to sign slips, fill out/review pickup requests etc. I prefer to get-in, or get -out, and go. A on-line reservation/payment system is needed - especially to change/update pickup reservations when traveling abroad and phone service is spotty or expensive. All-in-all very good service for Airport transportation to DTW.
