We were really impressed by the guy who came out. He looked at our unit and the way things were set up and talked to us about it. He told us that the unit we had was overkill since our house was zoned. He could have just given us quotes for the same type of unit and made more money, but he was very honest and informative. The bid was very reasonable and this company offers zero percent financing for 12 months which was very handy. The guy who came out to install was very friendly and got right down to business. I think he was in and out in about 3 hours. There's nothing worse than having your a/c stop working and then finding out that you have to spend thousands of dollars to get a new one. This company made the whole process less painful and I have cold air now! Just in time for the really hot weekend we are going to have!

We got proposals on Trane and Carrier as well, but quotes over 5 figures really raised our eyebrows. As they say, it is not the equipment you buy but the way the system is designed and installed. We are extremely pleased with the whole crew at A Climate, and our home has never been more comfortable! I had called someone else before and had been informed I needed a new Gas Valve. But I decided, I don't know much, and this guy came with a recommendation from Service Master. So Joe Kasallis showed up and told me I did not need a new gas valve but instead needed a new High limit OEM part. So for $196 cash he sent someone over by late afternoon to correct the problem. It blew warmer air but not warm enough to heat up a house. So a week later his guy came back and replaced. This time they sold me a flame sensor for $240 cash. Again, it worked for a short while and then started blowing cold air. When I called them again, he reminded me that our furnace was old and possibly needed replacing, which they also hand wrote in my bills. I finally pulled the plug and called someone else, they came out, replaced the Gas Valve and the furnace started blowing warm air again, right away. I wish I had never asked service master for their recommendation and instead trusted the first guy.

I'm really not understanding why my experience was a complete 180 from other reviewers, but calling…read moreit a nightmare would be a supreme understatement. I needed a dedicated outlet for the sump pump in the crawlspace because you cannot use an extension cord for it in my town. I called Vlad, believing I had called him before and he never got back to me (this was my error). He was very polite and came immediately to look at the work needing to be done. So far, so good! He quoted me a very fair price and said he could do the job the same day - even better! I made sure I said that the sump pump needed to be plugged directly into an outlet. He said he needed to go to the hardware store to pick up what he needed, after 2 hours I called him to make sure he was coming back. He replied yes, he would be here shortly. And this is where my nightmare began. A couple hours later, I notice that it had gotten very warm in my house. AC is usually set at 72 and when I checked the thermostat, it read 80. I politely asked Vlad if he did something to the AC, and his reply was "too many wires" and went back to what he was doing. That really wasn't an answer but I went back in the house and turned some fans on, sure that he would fix whatever he did to cause the AC not to work. As the hours progressed (he started work at about noon). the AC still wasn't working and the WiFi thermostat was turning off and on and re-setting every few minutes. He was messing with the breaker box for a REALLY long time and would NOT answer my questions but rather just shrugging his shoulders and ignoring me. You have no idea how frustrating that was. At about 6:30 (still no AC, mind you), he comes into the house and asks me for an extension cord. I ask him what for. He replies that he needs one to plug the sump pump into the outlet. Excuse me, what??? The whole reason I needed a contractor was because I needed the sump pump to plug directly into an outlet! He tells me that he thought it was better to put the outlet close to the crawlspace door and that's why he needed an extension cord, because the outlet was too far away from the sump pump cord. I tell him that he did not do the job correctly and that I needed the outlet close enough to the sump pump so that the cord could be plugged directly into it AND he still needed to address my AC not working. He insisted that he did nothing to the AC wiring and that it must be an issue with the AC or the thermostat. Both are fairly new and it was highly unlikely that it was not his fault. He insisted that I needed to call an AC person to come look at what the problem could be and repeatedly insisted that he did nothing wrong. At 7:30 he comes back into the house and simply says, "Money, give me money." My husband came home from work at this point and told Vlad that he must have done something wrong, crossed a wire, something, because there was no way this was not his fault. We wrote him a check for less than what we agreed on, because come on! He got a bit ugly at that but finally left. We had no choice but to call the AC company that services our furnace/AC. That was a $155 service call. While we were waiting for them to show, I went to do a load of laundry only to find that there was no power running to the washer and dryer. My husband went to the breaker box and found that the washer and dryer were now connected to the furnace breaker, so YES ABSOLUTELY he caused the problem because the washer and dryer were previously on their own (correct) breaker. So, the AC company could not help because it was not an HVAC issue, and I then had to find an emergency electrical company that had a $195 service call fee. No way in hell did I trust Vlad to come back and fix what he messed up. Although the electrical company came Saturday morning, the repair was so extensive (and required an HVAC tech along), the repair could not be done until Monday. We spent 72 hours without AC. Attached you will see the invoices, showing that yes, it was very much Vlad's fault. We have had to pay over $1300 to fix what he did. Installing a new outlet on a dedicated circuit breaker is basically Electrician 101. In addition to this review, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and seriously considering pursuing legal action - something I have never done in all my many years of being a consumer/customer.

The people that came out from Chappel were Philip who is the owner and Alex, (technician), and Brad ,(Certified Spacepak Technician). I had Chappel out last Thursday and Friday and today. The Owner, Brad, and Alex all were great people and all of them did an excellent job! My Spacepak was reinstalled correctly, The return was installed to a larger and correct size, 4 new supplies were installed, 2 new refridgerant lines were added and repaired. The first contractor who I hired to originally install the new Spacepak didn't do any of the things that Spacepak requires. Brad, Alex, and Philip did a great job and I would highly recommend Chappell Heating and Colling for any HVAC work and specifically for Spacepak work! Great Job everyone!

Really shady scam operating out of Aurora, IL area. Called them asking them to send a tech for…read morefurnace tuneup and who is qualified to install a T10+ thermostat kit to furnace, AC, and humidifier. It wasn't that I couldn't handle it myself, but rather to have Honeywell warranty the unit, a certified tech must install it. Well, the tech they sent, Brandon, not only wasn't qualified to install the kit, but also had no knowledge of this kit at all. But after looking at the box, said it would cost about $20-$30 to install on top of the $149 furnace tuneup. I agreed saying I can afford the $200 total. Since I had another contractor working on our 2nd floor, I let Brandon work in the basement on the HVAC equipment. When I came back down to the first floor a couple hours later, I saw the Buchner truck outside still. When I went to the basement, I found Brandon sitting on the floor reading the manual. Mind you, he never said he was charging more than the $200 I approved. He had apparently been unable to get the humidifier to power on. It seems he had decided to change the humidifier to being powered by the furnace, which is not compliant with Honeywell authorized procedure for that unit. When he had Honeywell support on speakerphone, the specifically told him he couldn't power it from furnace, and to reconnect it to the transformer it was originally on. After ending the call, he still didn't tell me he was charging me more than $200, so I went back up to the contractor two floors up. Finally, four hours later, I had to go to work. At five hours, he hands my wife an invoice for $900 for the work. But that's not all, he also tells us the humidifier board is dead, even though it had been running with no issue prior to Brandon arriving. Of course I refuse to pay the $900 invoice and call Buchner. When they have the Service Manager call me, he tells me that Brandon never said it was $20-$30 to install the kit and that Brandon is competent and wouldn't damage the humidifier from working on it. The manager finally agreed to send his other tech, Tony, to diagnose the equipment, no charge only after I inquired. Tony comes out later in the week with my wife home. He determines that "Brandon did not land one of the humidifier wires correctly and that the equipment is now online. But during conversation with my wife calls her a liar when she says that Brandon never said he was charging us beyond the $200 we agreed to until he handed her the $900 invoice. About a week later, I get an updated invoice from Buchner in the mail for $181, which I called them to pay immediately. I figured they must have agreed that Brandon had made one or more mistakes, and was doing the right thing. Oh was I wrong! A couple weeks later, I'm trying to clean up the loose humidistat wires that are supposedly not connected anymore because it is now wirelessly digital instead of wired analog. WRONG! As soon as two wires touched, I see an electrical arc, and my new thermostat goes dark. I immediately call Buchner, but the answering service says there is a note in their system to not service our address. She tells me to call Monday, which I do. The primary secretary tells me they "discounted" the work they did and there was a note to no longer service our address and I would have to speak to the Service Manager, which I agreed to do. Well, several days, and no call from them to my phone and no call to wife's phone. So I contact my contractor who is a licensed electrician and plumber, and also fixed a few pre-existing electrical issues in the house already. With his guidance, we identified the problem to be a blown fuse on the furnace board. So to recap: Poor customer service Unqualified HVAC Technician Attempt to commit fraud (charging customer while they teach themselves how to do their job) Attempt to charge nearly 5x the amount they were initially approved for without renewed consent Dishonest techs and Service Manager
