Michael's Lamp Studio did a beautiful job in restoring them, with particular attention to painting the brass base of the floor lamp and restoring its functionality. When I picked it up, I was favorably pleased. The floor lamp operates like a vintage lamp living its best life, and its fellow older table lamp is still functioning beautifully after 15 years. The work done at Michael's to restore older lamps is very special. The proprietor's recommendation for a shade and finial were also tasteful and demonstrated his expertise. After the experiences I had with these two lamps (the table lamp repair of fifteen years ago and the floor lamp just recently), I am very satisfied and recommend Michael's. They are the very best for repairs of older, family heirloom-type lamps.

They have EVERYTHING, and the staff is friendly & knowledgeable. I found out about Norcostco last year, when we had a pre-performance makeup emergency: The online retailer I'd ordered from took its sweet time to process the order and then chose "molasses in January" shipping, so I was in a blind panic the night before the show. After 2648395 rounds of internet searches & follow-up phone calls looking for one highly specific Ben Nye product, I found Norcostco -- and they're RIGHT HERE! An independent, local business that has All The Things! (I mean, they're not exactly "right here" for us -- I have to drive across the whole #%&! metro to get there -- but it's *so* worth the trip. You can see the products, use the testers, play around, and walk out with what you need. Fantastic!)

I quickly googled emergency electrician in my area and reached out to Harrison without doing my usual review checks, etc. They quoted $79 for the call and service to be determined once the electrician was here. Ok. Once here, I was quoted over $400 for him to remove the can to look for the problem. I was shocked at the ridiculous price, but also very concerned because I knew my roof needed replacing. So, I went ahead. He removed the can and felt around. The insulation above was dry, the Sheetrock was wet. No further explanation when I asked why that could happen. He looked outside and didn't see any signs of a hole, etc. and said he didn't know. But, if I wanted, he could change out all the cans in the kitchen/dining/living room for a mere $xx,xxx. Ridiculous. Goodbye. Would not recommend to anyone!! Expensive lesson. Always check!!

I just could not find what I was looking for. (Said Bono). Either the lights were too bulky or didn't fit my measurements. I could have strung a couple of sets together to run the length of my cabinets but then that would not have looked clean. That is when I found Southern Lights. They say the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Well have you driven south in the evening and see Southern Lights? We worked with Megan who was FANTASTIC! She educated us about the exact set up lights I was looking for. They have LED tape lights that you can actually cut to a custom length. Perfect! Those lights are bright enough to light up my kitchen yet are dimmable too. Megan also showed us some new electrical covers that are not your standard switches. We absolutely love these lights! We've been down to visit Southern Lights a few times over the years and most recently to check out their big tent sale. They have a huge tent sale in the Spring and in the Fall with lots of great deals. I would say if you can't find a light at Southern Lights, then it is just not available. If you need any lights, be sure to check out Southern Lights and be sure to say hello to Megan.
