I give this place a 3 stars because of the band. They were awesome. I wish I could say the same about the service and the food. We had to wait 15 minutes for a server to even come and acknowledge us. We placed a drink order (wine and beer) and it took another 7min after we asked about the status. I had a salad with salmon. It was good. My friend had the shrimp and grits... the grits looked runny but my friend said it was to her liking. Server never came back to the table to ask if we wanted refills or water... We had to ask for water. Would I come back.... YES but only if the band is good.

We had a reservation, the hostess was friendly, we were seated right in front the stage. Our server was great. Friendly and full of conversation. I ordered the avocado toast with egg over medium and they were cooked perfectly. The taste was good and the bread was fluffy. My husband ordered the omelet which came with potato wedges and he ordered a side of cheesy grits. There was a problem with the grits, not having the cheese and not hot (warm) and the wedges were almost cold. They were delicious with whatever the seasoning and butter sauce was. I give them a 5 star because they didn't hesitate to get the order corrected. Plus the wedges that were given as the correction, came in a bowl. The wedges that came with the omelet was only about 5 or 6 at the most. I got a birthday dessert which was a warm brownie with ice cream and caramel drizzle. This was really yummy I did order a mocktail, I showed a picture of something I had before and they did a good job of being creative. The artist was really good that day, enjoyed her voice and her songs. Not my usual music but I can vibe with most music and we enjoyed her.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

Not good at all…read more Ordered 1/2# brisket + 1/2# pulled pork + 1/2 rack of baby-back ribs + a pint of beans & a pint of cole slaw + some original BBQ sauce = $68. The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

On a previous trip we had seen an evening show at Snug Harbor and wanted to experience something else. We had read good things about the Spotted Cat and their sets run all afternoon. We were a little confused about price because one of our guidebooks said there is no cover but you're supposed to order drinks. There was a doorman who charged us something like $5 each (still cheap!) and we ordered beer and a N/A drink at the bar and listened to a great jazz group playing old-time jazz. Interior is tiny and you're pretty close to the performers. We were standing at first but eventually found some seats as people left. There is even a back courtyard if you want to be outside, although I don't know if you can hear the music or not. We bought a CD from the band and enjoyed it when we got back home. All in all, a great New Orleans experience.

Overall had a nice time enjoying the music!

While many of the former structures on the Chitlin' Circuit are no longer standing, 100 Men Hall is a rare treasure on the Gulf Coast. What's the Chitlin' Circuit? : Segregation in the South forced Black musicians into a narrow yet robust performance corridor called "the chitlin circuit," an historic network of performance spaces that eventually put the Hall on the Mississippi Blues Trail map. "Over many decades, the Hall attracted legendary musicians such as Ray Charles, James Brown, Etta James, Sam Cooke, BB King, Chuck Berry, Diamond Joe, Ernie K-Doe, Fats Domino, Lee Dorsey, James Booker, Irma Thomas, Professor Longhair and countless other Black musicians at a time when white-only clubs forbid their entry."

I'm searching Yelp, and don't quite find a clear front runner. So, I change my search to "cocktail bar" and Butler's pops up. I didn't quite trust it as there are plenty of bars in the area between Ocean Springs and D'Iberville, but I wanted an extensive bourbon and whiskey selection for the hubs, no crap! I checked out the photos and zeroed in. Upon arrival, I was completely shocked to find out that it's inside a casino resort. I missed that in my search. It's hidden in plain sight! First and foremost, who knew there were sprawling casinos situated behind residential neighborhoods in Mississippi?! Wow! -- I digress. We committed and we went for it. I'm so glad we did! We were immediately greeted by Josh, bartender extraordinaire, and the rest is history. Remember that extensive bourbon and whiskey selection we were looking for? ... FOUND IT! Butler's literally has it all, and Josh is the perfect handler! He's knowledgeable about the different brands, aging processes, and truly proved himself to be an expert in the field. Aside from the bar, Josh suggested that we sign up for rewards (which we did) and try the food (which we did as well). Overall, he's a team player and made us feel at home. We initially planned to stop in for drink or two, and ended up playing a few slots, and staying for dinner. All in all, our introductory trip to Butler's definitely won us over, and we'll be back soon!
