Listed on the Mississippi Blues Trail, this is historical for people of color, a fraternal order to help others in need and now supports musicians and artists. Lovely place.

The second floor is family friendly and both floors boast beautiful water views. They often have live bands and it is always entertaining. The servers and staff are always very kind and friendly. On my most recent visit, I came with a large group and we were served by Ashley who did an amazing job! The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. I did a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and it was great. I also tasted my sisters tacos and nachos which were excellent. We had a really nice time and I know we will be back. I do wish they served triple tail which is such a great fish and would make the namesake make sense. Maybe one day!!

Ordered Shrimp Nachos - literally had nachos (burnt), a few shrimp and cheese. None of the toppings. Our poor waitress was apologetic. She quickly went back to the kitchen to bring out the toppings so we could put them on top. I don't remember what anyone else ordered, but everyone had a complaint about the lack of flavor. Our waitress even said that if we ordered Royal Reds, to be sure to ask for extra seasoning on the side. I ordered a chicken sandwich and I was happy with it. I asked for a side salad instead of fries. They forgot the side salad. Again, the waitress noticed that right away and quickly went back to grab my salad. Our waitress was friendly, very quick and attentive. The ambiance was great. It was a great breeze overlooking the bay. I'm giving two stars for our waitress and ambiance. Everything was not worthy of a star. I really wouldn't recommend this tourist trap.

We had a reservation, the hostess was friendly, we were seated right in front the stage. Our server was great. Friendly and full of conversation. I ordered the avocado toast with egg over medium and they were cooked perfectly. The taste was good and the bread was fluffy. My husband ordered the omelet which came with potato wedges and he ordered a side of cheesy grits. There was a problem with the grits, not having the cheese and not hot (warm) and the wedges were almost cold. They were delicious with whatever the seasoning and butter sauce was. I give them a 5 star because they didn't hesitate to get the order corrected. Plus the wedges that were given as the correction, came in a bowl. The wedges that came with the omelet was only about 5 or 6 at the most. I got a birthday dessert which was a warm brownie with ice cream and caramel drizzle. This was really yummy I did order a mocktail, I showed a picture of something I had before and they did a good job of being creative. The artist was really good that day, enjoyed her voice and her songs. Not my usual music but I can vibe with most music and we enjoyed her.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

Not good at all…read more Ordered 1/2# brisket + 1/2# pulled pork + 1/2 rack of baby-back ribs + a pint of beans & a pint of cole slaw + some original BBQ sauce = $68. The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

On a previous trip we had seen an evening show at Snug Harbor and wanted to experience something else. We had read good things about the Spotted Cat and their sets run all afternoon. We were a little confused about price because one of our guidebooks said there is no cover but you're supposed to order drinks. There was a doorman who charged us something like $5 each (still cheap!) and we ordered beer and a N/A drink at the bar and listened to a great jazz group playing old-time jazz. Interior is tiny and you're pretty close to the performers. We were standing at first but eventually found some seats as people left. There is even a back courtyard if you want to be outside, although I don't know if you can hear the music or not. We bought a CD from the band and enjoyed it when we got back home. All in all, a great New Orleans experience.
