The food is good and the music is amazing! This is an establishment for the Grown and Sexy. The vibe is chill and is great for a date night. The atmosphere and music were wonderful! The staff were friendly. We went on a special Valentine's Day event and it was packed! The service was a bit slow but not because the staff weren't busting it, they just needed more help. I got fried catfish for an appetizer and fried chicken with collard greens and Mac & cheese. It was good! My husband got lobster and another got the lamb. Everyone enjoyed their food. Good dancing, great people! Lots of fun! read more

I drove 90 miles to sh7are in the Satchmo experience. Charles Carter was amazing as usual. And then there was the food and service. Suffice it to say, don't arrive hungry. An hour long wait and $40 for two fatty lamb chops...I was hurt and very disappointed. First and last all at once. read more

Bartender could NOT make a whiskey sour. They ran out of Merlot. Our food was cold. I got the feeling it was a lean cuisine put on a white plate. Rice was not fully cooked. When we received our ticket, the gratuity had already been added, and they ADDED a suggested gratuity on top of that! So. We paid $10 to enter. $20 per entree $10 per drink. 18% gratuity. This is a review for Sunday brunch offered at Satchmo's. First off, it's quite a grand building that's meant to impress. Inside, it looks like a giant dinning hall with plenty of tables. I came here for the bottomless mimosas and stumbled out pretty satisfied. For approximately $10, you can choose classic mimosas, pineapple or cranberry mimosas...or all of them. The mimosas were well made too so by the third one you should really feel it. My personal favorite is the pineapple. I also ordered chicken and waffles and got a sample of their grits. I'm usually not a fan of grits, but the grits here was just amazing. The chicken was well breaded, fried to a nice crisp without losing the moisture inside. Overall, I had a great brunch here. The bottomless mimosas was a great deal. Food prices are reasonable and tasty. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back for brunch in the future. read more

I give this place a 3 stars because of the band. They were awesome. I wish I could say the same about the service and the food. We had to wait 15 minutes for a server to even come and acknowledge us. We placed a drink order (wine and beer) and it took another 7min after we asked about the status. I had a salad with salmon. It was good. My friend had the shrimp and grits... the grits looked runny but my friend said it was to her liking. Server never came back to the table to ask if we wanted refills or water... We had to ask for water. Would I come back.... YES but only if the band is good. read more

This was hands down the absolute most horrible dining experience of my entire life. First they trick you by thinking it's going to be grand and fine dining. The building is huge but when you walk in there's probably around 10 tables. Everyone is very unknowledgeable about their job. The owner that the bartender pointed out to me was very arrogant and rude. The food was cold and absolutely disgusting. Husband and I attended a friends birthday celebration on Thursday night.... FABULOUS! Our entrees (Steak meal and Grilled Salmon) were "pretty", delicious , and PERFECT temperature! Not to mentionVERY affordable. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere was festive and as another reviewer stated "grown and sexy"! Saxophonist "Jordan Chalden" was SUPERB! This classy hidden gem was the highlight of our vacation. Walter, Lavonne, the young man who was our server and the dancing doorman made us feel like old friends. To top it off the food was delectable and the band outstanding. Review I am not one to write reviews but my experience at Satchmo's Jazz Cafe warranted a review. If I could have given it a 1/2 star, I most certainly would have. This was my first time visiting this establishment and it will most definitely be my last. While the music and ambiance was very nice, the food was horrible and the customer service even worse than that. Set the stage- Girls Night Out so we came ready to laugh, listen to some good music and eat some good food. We ordered the wings, cabbage, turnip greens, sautéed corn, squash/zucchini, and blackened chicken meal w/ cabbage and turnip greens as sides. The ONLY items edible out of that list was the squash/zucchini and the wings. Let me just say that their salt must have had an expiration date of May 4th because it was all used on the cabbage(2), turnip greens (2), and sautéed corn that day- May 4th. I'm a huge fan of spicy food but the spice on the blacken chicken(my sister ordered) was enough to make an jalapeño pepper cry. My sister had to dip it in ranch dressing and bbq sauce just to make it edible. This was done ONLY because-hey-It's Girls Night Out- so of course we're hungry. We sent everything besides 3 items back and the manager/owner even came to our table to apologize for the food. Please ask me what discount was provide to my sister for the overly spiced chicken and the salty sides that were returned to the kitchen but NEVER return to our table...$2.90. Yes, $2.90. This only took care of the soda. So she had to pay full price($17) for the blacken chicken meal that had no sides so not really not a meal. The manager/owner was called to the table and she did NOTHING to rectify the situation although knowing of all the issues we were having from the very beginning. Now I know why we have't heard about this place and it's been open for a year. 0-1/2 star is warranted indeed. read more

This has to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever had the trouble of dining in. My friends and I arrived for a girl's night out to a beautiful building inside and out, but that's as far as the compliments go. The food was beyond horrible! I ordered the sautéed corn and collard greens. My friends ordered the blackened chicken with cabbage and spinach. Our veggies arrived with more salt than the Dead Sea. My corn was also salty and oily. We sent them back and were told they would be recooked. The only thing that arrived to me was the corn which was now boiled corn with sprinkles of onions. Only one of my friends got her cabbage which was severely undercooked. The only thing that was eaten at our table was BBQ wings and a piece of spicy blackened chicken. Now here is where things really go south! My friend was charged the full menu price for a meal she did not eat. When she questioned it, the server as well as the manager were rude and uncooperative. We left frustrated and hungry. This place has been opened almost a year but I do not foresee it lasting much longer with food and service such as this. read more
