The definition of delicious and cheap comfort food. Their tofu pad thai is so affordable and delicious. Satay always has a long line so I recommend calling ahead and picking up your food, otherwise, it might be a while. There's not much parking or seating in this complex so to go is a popular option. The staff here is super friendly too. They always greet you and it's family owned so they start to recognize the students. Would highly recommend the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles here.

I love Satay. I come here pretty frequently because I go to school in the area, and am never disappointed by their Pad Thai. The service is always quick and nice at the counter. Never had any complaints about ordering however there is limited indoor seating and I've always had to wait for a table after ordering. The restaurant is on the smaller side inside and always pretty packed around dinner time. It has a community vibe in there with lots of pictures of customers on the walls and cheesy decor. Now for the food... I crave their chicken Pad Thai constantly. It is so good, you get a lot for your money, and so filling!!! I would 100% recommend it to anyone trying Satay for the first time. Just a note though, they do serve it with some crushed peanuts sprinkled in a corner, so if you have an allergy make sure to tell the cashier when ordering. Overall: an affordable Thai place with AMAZING Pad Thai and a homey, smaller neighborhood vibe. Come here for good food, cozy vibes, and quick service.

Came here hoping to grab a quick and convenient bite to-go, and it was truly the speediest service I have ever encountered. I'm talking faster than fast food. We waited for maybe 1-2 min after ordering to get our food. The cashier lady was super nice and willing to answer our questions about the ingredients and dishes. They do have indoor seating as well, but it's not a ton of space. Got the panang curry, pad see ew, and basil rice - all with chicken. Very delicious and in generous portion sizes, especially the pad see ew. Not the best Thai food in Nashville, but I'd argue possibly the fastest!

Family run Thai food with great food for good prices. The people are extremely nice and give generous portion size. Been going here for a long time and highly recommend it if you're in the area. Also very close to Centennial park and Vanderbilt.

Stopped in here for lunch after visits Centennial Park. It's a cute little hole in the wall that is unique decorated with pictures of last patrons across all its walls. Sat down and ordered the garlic and pepper tofu with medium spice. It came with a nice side salad with a peanut sauce dressing, white rice, and a small vegetable soup. Each bite from the soup to the salad to the tofu was delicious. The workers were wonderful and super nice. They provided great service. I am very happy to have found this spot.

I came here for lunch after spending a few hours at Centennial Sportplex next door. I wanted Asian food and this was the closest that I could find. It's your typical Thai place with traditional Thai dishes. It's fast casual (order at a counter and then sit down). Pad Thai is usually my go-to for a first visit at a Thai place. Pad Thai is a funny dish because it's never the same across various Thai restaurants. Kind of like General Tso's chicken from when Chinese restaurants were a thing. It came with a choice of soup or salad, spring roll, and the entree itself. I opted for the soup but it was unlike any soup I ever had. It was actually delicious and I basically chugged it right out of the cup (I am a soup person). It did have some type of squash in it but I don't really know what all the ingredients were because it was mostly broth. The spring roll was your typical spring roll. Fried golden brown with a piping hot vegetable filling. The Pad Thai was ordered mild with chicken, had a nice tang to it and the sauce had just the right amount of oil (not too greasy). There were only a few pieces of chicken in it, so I felt like I was eating mostly noodles but it tasted good nevertheless. I'm sure it attracts a lot of college kids since it's close to Vandy. It's a reasonable place to get your Thai fix in this area.

We swung by Satay Thai a few weeks back on a weekday evening as we were craving Thai food. Satay Thai is located close to the Parthenon off of Elliston Place. It is tucked away in a small complex that shares space with other restaurants, such as Roma Pizza and Poke Bros. Although I have driven by the area many times, I had never noticed Satay Thai prior to finding them online. When we arrived around 5:30pm, it was not too busy. The service was quick and efficient. Satay Thai is a no frills restaurant where you order at the counter and the food is brought out to you quickly on paper plates and bowls. We ordered the Satay beef skewers (comes with 4), spring rolls (comes with 2), panang curry, and drunken noodles w/ beef. The food was delicious. The skewers were tasty with a sweet peanut sauce to dip in. The panang curry had some spice that was not too overpowering for us. And the drunken noodles were cooked very well with a savory taste that left me wanting more! It's not common for us to finish all of our food, but we pushed through easily given how tasty everything was! The food was also fairly reasonably priced compared to other Thai restaurants we have been to (main dishes are approx ~15 and apps are approx ~5-10). We will be back!

Came here for lunch on a weekend. The food was ok, we got the pineapple curry, which was delicious, but the tofu in my pad see ew was burnt and made the entire dish taste burnt. The staff was friendly and the service was good. I can see the draw for Vanderbilt students since it's a convenient location, the prices are reasonable, and the food is decent.

Service is always friendly and quick. I used to think the mild Pad Kra Pao was pretty spicy, but I think they have decreased the spice levels because now it is extremely manageable. They have chili oil and other spices at the table in case you need to add more spice. Recently, I've been loving the red curry. It is packed full of meat, vegetables, and flavor. For the service itself, it's the kind of place where you simply order at the cashier and take a number to your table. They've always been quick to drop off our food. I ordered the Street Dumplings during my last visit and they were fantastic. It's hard to find good soup dumplings in these parts so I'll probably be ordering these as an appetizer every time now. The Chicken Red Curry was also delicious, if a little mild. I just wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often!

Parking is free (must be validated inside the store) once you're seated. When it comes to the food, overall it was pretty good and reasonably priced. Lots to pick from, including Pho in a Thai restaurant. However, not sure if it was missed by our server, but the spice level (we got everything on a level 4 out of 5) was nowhere to be found/noticed. Pretty sure it was not spicy at all, we all added the chili oil which helped tremendously. On the other hand, protein was minimal. The portion was underwhelming and especially the chicken in the curry and shrimp in the fried rice. Lastly, the Thai iced tea felt more "sweet/sugary" rather than being actual tea. The…read morebase of vegetable broth mixed with coconut milk was creamy yet not heavy (with a blend of yellow and red curry spices, according to the menu -- sadly I am not that well versed in curries!). The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the tofu was browned to perfection. The grilled broccoli and cauliflower were snappy and contrasted well with the rest of the ingredients. The dish had a spicy yet tolerable kick to it, but I have a very high threshold for spice and heat (I added chili oil to take it up a notch!). Also, the portion size is BIG. I was very hungry so I had no issues finishing most of it, but it could easily be shared between two adults, especially if you order an appetizer or side. I loved the interior decor, which was simple yet eye catching. The mural encompassing the entire space in particular looked really cool. The place was packed, but the friendly staff were hustling to keep the line moving.

The hardest part about eating at Degthai is beelining to the Tiew Gang Vegan. (BTW, I am not Vegan, yet I LOVE the Tiew Gang Vegan.) They do everything well - the other curries, the standard noodle dishes, the dumplings - and it can be tempting to just go with your regular go-to dish like Pad Thai w/Chicken (BORRRINGG, but they do it well nonetheless.) You've gotta try the Tiew Gang Vegan. It's truly a once-in-a-year of eating out experience finding a dish this incredible. It competes pound-for-pound in the same heavy hitter weight class as the best Pho, Ramen, Jjamppong, or Beef Noodle Soup you've ever had. I've now been to Degthai 10 times, and have gotten the Tiew Gang Vegan the last 5 times in a row.
