A couple of years ago, I took the Mac Tours City Tour when my dad and gran were up to visit. The thing that makes the tour distinctive is the use of the old style Routemaster buses. If you've ever travelled in London, you will know these very well. There's just something about them, and they now have a somewhat legendary status in bus circles. The route of the tour takes in both Old and New Town, along with the famous sights like the Castle, the Scott Monument and Holyrood Palace. There is commentary throughout, ensuring that you never miss anything important. This tour, as with any other, is best on a sunny day, and the weather was kind to us. Tickets can be bought at the bus departure point on Waverley Bridge, and prices are in line with what is to be expected from a bus tour. The ticket is valid for 24 hours, allowing you to hop on and hop off as you please. This was a very pleasant tour, and definitely worth doing if you appreciate the old style Routemaster bus. I will happily recommend this to those I know who visit the city.

He was funny, engaging, educational, and safely got us to all of the places. I was a solo female traveler and this was a great excursion for me. My reason for giving 4/5 stars is because I felt we were a bit rushed in some of the towns. We didn't have a lot of time to really explore and wander. They were quick stops, some of only 15 minutes. In Lochness, if you were doing the boat tour you truly didn't have any time to wander or grab a bite to eat. The sights were amazing though and I felt I got a splash of the Highlands life! The cows, Baxter, Honey, and Haymitch were 5/5 stars! Pay the 1pound to feed them! I would absolutely still recommend this trip to anyone! You see incredible sights and the quick stops are still 100% worth it! Book the trip! :)

This week I book a private tour to the Highlands, Loch Ness, Fort William to show my sister how beautiful Scotland is. Our driver/guide Arina picked us up from the hotel in Edinburgh and for the next 12 hours kept us entertained with historical facts, beautiful sceneries, nice music. Then a couple of days later, we took another tour and this time Mike was our guide. We visited the Dunfermline Abbey, Sterling Castle and Rosslyn Chapel. Also this one was an incredible tour full of stories, information and history. I can't wait to be back in Scotland to see more and book another tour with Highland Experience.

He told us a story and usually had some music to accommodate the legend. The long day really flies by traveling from sight to sight. Plenty of bathroom breaks, places to eat and drink and stretch your legs. We did take (at an extra cost of about $22L pp) the Loch Ness Boat Tour. (@ 1 hr). It may also good for older children. We had good fun and for £10 per person was good value.

Not only do they do their best to follow the itinerary, but they do their best to take into consideration what other things people wish to see. (I got to feed the highland coos and my friend got to go to lean to coffee) If you also had any questions regarding luggage size or about the stops, they were really quick to respond despite the time difference (8 hours from LA to Scotland) The tour max is 16 people and they run regardless if it's less than 16. The seats were very comfortable and there was a complimentary charging station in the seats near the window. My tour group was small (10 people in total) and they are all friendly and nice! Now the major factor in the tour is the unpredictable weather of Scotland. In my tour, it rained most of the trip, but the driver Chris was very strategic and re-arranged the itinerary to ensure we had the best possible experience at every stop we made. He was also very knowledgeable and gave fun facts and history bits. He even drove safely and always stopped to let the sheep cross the road. Some notable stops: - Quirang -I pretended I was a weather lady reporting the windy conditions - Broadford - I found lots of British exclusive chocolate and I had a big pile I took back on the bus - Fairy pools - an epic 2 hour hike with a bunch of rain - Loch Lomond - this went on for miles and miles and it was beautiful and blue - Sheep - lots of sheep everywhere - Dunvegan Castle - has a beautiful garden Overall, if you want an epic tour of the highlands do the 4 day and ensure that Chris is your driver!
