Sam is amazing. I cannot imagine doing an Outlander tour any other way. Not only is she also a super fan and knowledgeable about all things Outlander (books/show/filming), but she's also very smart and knows so much about Scotland's history! She was a joy to spend the day with, and always kept us laughing. I will absolutely be back with my mom and sister and we will be booking another tour! P.s. my boyfriend is not a super Outlander fan, but he still thoroughly enjoyed himself visiting the castles and learning about Scotland. He gives it his seal of approval.

The five of us and Steve spend a wonderful day together at three different sites where different parts of Outlander has been filmed. Steve made sure to have actual scenes lined up on his iPad to show us the scenes as we walked around the different sites. On the drives between sites Steve was really great about historical points of interest or other aspects of Scottish culture and history. We highly recommend Edinburgh Tour Guides and we loved this tour - if you're even an casual Outlander fan you'll really enjoy this tour!

Our guide, Rory, is a local and has a PhD in History from the University of Edinburgh, so you're getting a perfect mix of academic depth and genuine, lived-in perspective. We also walked along the charming Victoria street which was rumored to be the inspiration for Harry Potter's Diagon Alley. Rory was incredibly knowledgeable and kept the whole group engaged the entire time. If you're visiting Edinburgh and love history, culture, and architecture, this tour is 100% worth your time.

I have been to several ghost tours around the world and this one was a joke. The guide tried hard with lots of historical facts and a pathetic cape that appeared he might of wrestled it from one of Edinburgh's many homeless people. A great reciter of historical facts, but a ghost story teller he was not! The underground portion was a couple rooms just below the surface that were super hot and stuffy. Not scary, just uncomfortable. If you are claustrophobic, you will not like this portion. The tour had more stories about human feces than actual ghosts! I went with two of my female friends, nobody was scared or amused. I spoke to the owner/manager at their booth the next day about our disappointment. He was very combative. Edinburgh is allegedly the most haunted city in the world. I have been wanting to visit and go to a ghost tour for years. Give another tour a shot because I'm sure there are some good ones out there. Definitely avoid this one!!!

In case you don't already know, the current Edinburgh city center is built on top of the old city that is several hundred years old. This tour takes you beneath the streets to the old city. You will see the original close with houses and workshops. You will learn how they lived, "meet" other prominent people of that time, and learn about the black plagues. Really cool tour, very informative, and sometimes funny. Please note this tour is NOT for people with mobility issues or concerns. Tours leave on time from the street front store. So, be on time. They can't easily add you to your group if they have already left and gone underground. Highly recommended that you buy your tickets in advance. P.S. Photos are prohibited, and they try to sell you a picture of yourself in the old close on the way out. Tacky, I know, but still worth it.

I was taking a diabetic medicine that was causing some bathroom issues and she did an emergency stop for me and I am so grateful. I highly recommend tours to see Uk as driving on the other side of the road and a million turn about circles is terrifying so let the professionals take that stress from you. Plus they know where the cool stuff is and when to go. Our other tours in other countries the driver and guide were separate, so she gets bonus points for doing it all and to perfection. the roads are so narrow and scary but she did great. this was first time using this company but left willing to take other tours with Rabbies. She didn't say anything about tips which most do .. but bring tip money and reward exceptional service. We went on the trip with another couple and made some lovely memories. Loved going with friends even made it more special but in other trips we ended up making friends for life so either way is great. We did a stop near an ancient Village I think Vikings anyway there were some shops there where my friend bought a purse and I kicked myself for not going in there and getting one too. I thought the purse prices would be better in Edinburgh they were made with the local Fabric and real leather. When we got to Edinburgh the purses were not as well made and they were more expensive and a lot of them weren't even with real leather or made locally. The Edinburgh purse is a lot of them they use the fabric woven there but they made them out of the country probably China or India. Anyway I that is my biggest regret of the trip that I didn't buy an Islander purse. Now I'm going to have to see if I can buy one online and it'll be a lot more money. So if you go to the Isle of sky and you want a bag or a purse you might want to keep that in mind. My friend bought one that was more large than what I would have wanted but it was around a hundred and some dollars great price for the quality. It's well known that the UK is not known for its great weather. Lots of rain and can be very windy around the cliffs and water. I bought vessie shoes which are waterproof and comfortable but kind of expensive. I also took a raincoat with a hood and a hat with a brim and a chin strap because the wind around the cliffs is real. This hat is especially nice because it has a mesh netting that you can unclip in case you're getting in a buggy area which around the ferry pools we needed. If you don't need the netting you can just clip it back up and so it's really handy. The UK and pretty much most of Europe we find that they like twin beds in the hotels and especially the b&bs. I guess people don't like each other lol and want to sleep together. So we would call ahead and ask that they push the beds together before we get there if that was the case. They also don't seem to have air conditioning screens on the windows or sheets on the beds?? Sometimes places will have fans so it's worth asking or calling ahead to see if you can reserve a fan because they definitely don't have enough fans for every room. If you stay in a US-based hotel like a Hilton or Marriott Holiday Inn you don't have to deal with this as much but I guess it's just common in Europe. Traveling through the summer or heat wave months this can be a bit of a problem. The bed seemed all have these duvets which is great if it's cold out but when it's too warm it's a bit uncomfortable. Since we were roasting we had to open the window didn't love that there was no screen and a lot of the windows are made to where you can only open them about an inch so it doesn't provide much air. This was the case through all of the UK not just the Isle of Skye.

Hail the Cabbie: Historic Tour of Edinburgh, 1 taxi for up to 5 people…read more I wanted to let you know what happened today, 7/9/19.  I booked the Historic Tour of Edinburgh 1 taxi for 5 people, Booking #BK-699051924.     The driver e-mailed me through Viator yesterday afternoon, but I got the e-mail very late.  This morning he called me.  It was set.  He picked us up for our 1 - 1/2 hour tour.  We were in the rain.  It was very uncomfortable as two of us had to sit backwards on a foldout seat. The other 3 barely fit on the seat. He kept going and showing us more.  We didn't understand why. He showed us his castle where he lived, he drove by there. He stopped a lot and turned around and talked to us while the vehicle was stopped.  I was thinking, drive and talk.  At the end he asked if anything else, and I said my Dad wants souvenirs. He took us to a place for 1/2 hour and then wanted to take us to more places. I said, back to the ship.  We got back, 4 1/2 hours later.  I handed 30 pounds to Glyn, the driver (thinking that was a good tip) and he said no, and gave it back to me.  He said I owed him 187 pounds!!!  He gets 50 pounds an hour.  I said, no one told me that. I have a ticket here that shows I already paid you for this tour.  He said, no, that he would call the police.  I said, okay, call them.  My Dad is 86, and walks slow, my Mom is 84 and another 65 disabled person, and my boyfriend was with me.  My boyfriend was going to give him 20 pounds too for a tip, so he would have had a 50 pounds tip.  I asked my parents to go on the ship, but they said they didn't want to leave their daughter!  Gllyn came over and asked if we would pay 150 pounds.  I said, no.  I guess my boyfriend offered 100 pounds and he said no.  I spoke to the security guard and the traffic enforcement person about this.     We waited for 40 minutes.  The police never showed up.  My daughter called me and I told her what happened, she said, just leave.  So, I went to Glyn, and said, I just spoke to my daughter and she suggested to leave and that is what I am going to do....I asked him nicely would you like the 30 pounds I wanted to give you for the tip?  He said, no.  I walked away and he started yelling at my boyfriend saying, "Now, you made me change the way I feel about Americans!"  "You guys Fucked Me!"     I was shaking when I left because I explained to him that I bought this tour and paid for it already.  I also told him, I never heard about the 50 pounds an hour.  If I did, would I have gone shopping for souvenirs for 25 pounds for the 1/2 hour, that is crazy, I could have gotten a regular taxi?  He didn't want to hear anything, just kept saying I get 50 pounds an hour.     I talked to his supervisor on the phone and explained all that, but she just said, can I talk to the driver again.  So, I gave him back his phone!         He wanted our ship information, cabin #, etc.  I told him, you have my name, my phone #, and e-mail address, you don't need anything else.     He is knowledgeable!  We learned a lot!  I told him, he should have told us that, that is what he got paid, or after 1 hour he should have said this is the end, if you would like to stay longer it will cost you 50 pounds an hour and I would have said, please take us back to the ship.     I thought you should know what happened. First e-mail received from his wife 7/9/19 9:29 a.m. Perhaps the way you and your party behaved is commonplace in your country but it's illegal in Scotland. Can't believe you where once a teacher, no wonder the rest of the world laughs at Americans. Hope one day your pupils and grandson realise what a despicable human being you are. Nothing but a common thief. Depriving someone of their livliehood is disgusting, would you have done the same to the cruise company? Totally disgraceful 2nd email from wife: For someone who is supposed to be educated, you really are a piece of work Not only are you a thief you are also a liar. "You fucked me" jolly nice expression not used in the uk. If you'd bothered to read the website you would see that it's about taxi tours not trips. My husband drove past our house, don't think so. Just face the truth you are a liar and a thief and  it's completely disgusting what you've done on trip advisor. Offered £100, don't think so, and for your information the police did arrive, so why didn't you wait for them. My husband doesn't use swear words. How does it feel to totally humiliate a decent, HONEST human being, you are scam artists and you know it. 3rd e-mail from his wife: Just read what you have written, he showed you the castle that he lived in, are you for real. He told you he lived NEAR a castle. You Americans understand nothing about the UK.  Obviously your friends are going to take your side, even when you've told them a pack of lies. Glyn helped your disabled relatives into the taxi and indeed has a disabled son himself. As for the phrase you used, you've fucked me, as stated this sounds
