A service tech came out on Friday 11:00 am to assess an unexplained outage that eliminated about half of the electric in my home. Within 45 minutes he discovered that 1 side of the main panel was virtually destroyed -- burnt and melted main breaker, among other things -- and needed attention ASAP. His team of 3 technicians prioritized the repair for the following Monday. The main tech Craig was thorough, amiable, confident, and no nonsense. The work was pretty complex, requiring installation of a much larger panel, and therefore drywall removal, adding much larger connections from the outside metered box to the inside panel, removing and replacing all conduit connections to the box, adding a 20' conduit/ground wire from the water meter, adding 2 8' ground bars outside, and testing everything. Work was superb, brought everything up to code, and they left the entire work area clean. Highly recommend. 5 of 5 stars for sure.

I had a hotwater heater go out in our new (to us) home this weekend. We have an AHS policy. The…read moreheater was a 75 gallon rheem heater - so it was big. Priced online new as over 1200 bucks from nextag and multiple vendors. AHS covered the heater replacement. Those with home warranty policies know they're called casino policies sometimes - but I was shocked that the full amount was covered. Pleasant suprise after reading these reviews and expecting the worst, but my policy covered what it said it would cover What is not covered in any such baseline policy though is the piping to and fro. My house is over 100 years old, so there was significant work to be done. I may upgrade to the next level policy this year that does cover the connections. Big John from Choice came out to my house in the north suburbs from Schaumburg. The night before the appointment the office called and ask if we'd be home between 10 and 2. John was at my house at 9:50. Good start. He assessed the issue, wrote up a quote on the not to exceed figure for replacing the piping with proper components that don't rust. He explained the current piping was functional but likely contributed to my heat breaking do to a mismatch in material for the dialectrics. Several valves, tee joins and general copper piping needed to be replaced. Heater was ordered for pick up and installation was to be next day. Office called that night - asked for a window between 10 and 2. Big John and teammate Mike came in to get the job done. They lifted out the beheameth, brought in the new one, and several hours later we had hot water. Total work was 495 on the quote for all the pipework. It looks great, definately worth it. We ended up not having to have a new flu put on, so after my invoice was recieved by the office they cut a check to me for the difference and I had it this afternoon when I got back from work. So all in - GREAT WORK. From the front office to the assessment to the installation, these guys rocked it. I was expecting non-rocking just given the economy and I wasn't sure how the home warranty would work - but it rocked. I understand everyone has their own experiences, and that these policies often cause frustration when people think they cover entire jobs when they do not, but I would consider that framework when assessing the commentary from the postings below. Good work fellas! I'll hope not to have to see you soon but my boiler is over 30 years old so we'll probably touch base this winter.

I never ended up getting a call back and ended up going with another local plumber. I would never trust a contractor to do work with my home that is this disorganized and unprofessional. Once approved, Bill and two other electricians from BTB came out the very next day to complete the project! They were extremely professional and courteous. They also went above and beyond by identifying a potential issue outside the original scope of work and addressing it so that we wouldn't have any issues with the final inspection for our permit. Completely lazy customer service, with mixed/improper expectations. Called for 3 days, each day…read moretold would be serviced later that day. Each day, no call, no show. Excuses each time pointing to bad to be management and disorganization. On the 4th day (today) , was told someone came out the prior evening but no one was home. I was home all day/evening and was awaiting the pre-call that I was told repeatedly that I'd receive, so I wasn't sitting by my door waiting for someone to knock. When I explained I got no call, they read back the phone number they had, which I had repeated every time I called, and the last 4 digits were swapped. The rep just said, "Oops, that's the problem then." Yeah, no one read call my number to confirm and recommended they start doing that after the rep gave another excuse of "receiving so many calls to their office." When I asked to get priorized today as my young child would be coming over for the weekend today and was told they could "try, but..." and when I explained this has become ridiculous they defaulted back to saying "no one was home last time we tried" and I referred back to THEIR expectations set that they would call when ON THEIR WAY, then why still show up when no one answered because they called the wrong number? The rep got incredibly irate and aggressive and I asked if I should call another company since they can't seem to keep up/adhere to expectations, to which she yelled "yes, I think you should" be hung up. I know this is the hot season and it's busy, so give proper expectations, confirm you have correct contact information, keep your customers updated and for God's sake, take accountability and hold your temper... Unprofessional, unreliable, incredibly unpleasant company to interact with.
