We waited all morning to find out the Electrician that was appointed to come to my house today got called into an emergency job. This is his initial visit appointment. The time he was scheduled to arrive is between 10:30 and 11am, operator Veronica called me at 11:40 asking to reschedule for another day. The good; Fair pricing. Initial communication was easy. Estimate and date to install established quickly. Clean install. The not so good: After Installation wasn't sure the forklift charger worked. Installer advised to call if it didn't work as testing was inconsistent. The bad: Final price was almost double the bid. Attempted follow up calls have gone unanswered for several weeks. I always get three quotes whenever I have a medium/big repair job. I met with several qualified / certified electricians and Gerard (owner of Illinois State Electric) had the best price and was the best at communicating what needed to be done to correct the electric problems in my older home. The other electricians spoke in electricians jargon that was hard to follow but Gerard explained everything, put it in writing and showed up with a crew to get everything done on time and at the agreed upon price. His crew was fast, extremely hard working and cleaned up everything afterwards. I honestly would recommend Gerard and his team for anything electrical in your home. They put in a dedicated 30 amp line for my RV without cutting any drywall. They took the time to carefully snake everything to an outside wall with no damage or repairs needed to the interior or exterior of my home. The other electricians I met could not come up with a plan that did not cost me an arm and a leg in painting and drywall repairs after. I cannot say enough great things about this company! I definitely had a mess on my hands with having a few ceiling fans replaced and a couple of light fixtures replaced. Unfortunately, I hired a friend of the family who didn't really know what he was doing. I was left with Wires, lights that wouldn't turn off and the job was not completed. I am so happy that I found Illinois State Electric . Jose came out to give me an estimate and started on the job right away. He was exceptionally patient, kind and took pride in his work. He covered his work boots with coverings to not to dirty the floors. He swept up the floors as he was finishing. He is an amazing young man who thoroughly enjoys his profession. Unfortunately, this repair became more complicated and Jose had to come back. Again he was exceedingly patient, professional and understanding. He quickly understood what we needed and didn't try to get us to make more improvements than we needed to. Illinois State Electric upgraded our service from 100 amps to 200, modernized my main breaker, grounded my house, ran electricity out to the garage, fixed an issue that was damaging my roof, installed a new weather head, installed a few GFCIs, and set us up to be able to power future projects throughout the property, and he did it at a reasonable price. Replace a 30+ year old transformer. Matt arrived on time and provided an estimate on the spot. He worked tirelessly to locate the old transformer which was located above a suspended ceiling in the basement.
