Everyone in that shop, employee or not, was super supportive and interested. They explained what and why each piece was as they helped me with my setup. They told me I was likely going to need much harder bushings than came in my trucks, but were not forceful about it. I tested the ones I had for about a week... they were absolutely right. I went back and bought new bushings from them after doing my research online. These guys were so awesome I want to support and give them all my business regardless, but they turned out to be a little bit cheaper than I had found online while learning about them. Just cannot say enough about these guys. I have a new hobby that my fat ass loves, been a pure joy from every aspect. If any of you reads this, thank you. I don't think I've ever had an experience as good as this when starting something new. * Amazing and supportive service * Clearly supports a great community around them * Great prices * We very clear and tolerant of my ignorance. Educated instead of judging. If you are thinking about getting into skating or just need a shop... This is the place.

The location can't be beat, either--near Jackson Square. What impressed me most was when I most recently went in--and I'm an out of towner, understand--they greeted me, we talked about art and photography and one of the guys asked me to go to a photo show his friend was having. There's a real sense of wanting to include all skaters here, to extend the community outward and not puppy-guard anything despite probably getting a huge lot of tourists wandering in for better or worse. Humidity is simply really embodying what a local skateshop should in every regard. They have very rad stickers, too.

One of my first reviews that isn't about food!…read more Seriously, where do I start? Sneakerheads and nonsneakerheads alike come together at this place to really enjoy some great vibes this place gives. This place has a GREAT selection of sneakers to buy that isn't normally at your malls. If you need some neck breakers, this is your place to go! Living in New Orleans my entire life, I've always appreciated a place like Politics! They seriously do care about the locals around here ! This place has all the limited sneaker releases as well as some pretty cool shirts, shorts, jerseys, and more to keep up with the trends. The staff here are VERY nice and do cater to what you need. They do Sunday events once every month to help give locals a chance to cop the most coveted sneakers of the month. Events can range to pop ups, sunday raffle/games, and just all around chilling in their store. Sneaker Politics has stores in Baton Rogue, New Orleans, Lafayette, and now Austin! Keep a look out on their Instagram for all the latest news!

I really enjoyed shopping here when I was in town in August of 2025 for a convention. However, none of that matters if the selection of product doesn't pan out but here it does: they have a great selection of recent sneaker releases and clothing, too. I bought a pair of camo mesh shorts by their own Politics label which are well-made and hype. Their location in the French Quarter is also superb. I highly recommend checking them out.

Situated on the block between Decatur and N. Peters STNDRD Athletic was a random stop in for us as…read morewe walked around the city. We got pulled in by the window set ups and sleek looking interior...and the promise of cool athletic gear was a bonus. The store is a boutique style spot with a focus on athletic goods from shoes, shirts, bottoms, hats and accessories. They have a cool shoe wall that features a small variety of men's and women's sneakers. The rest of the store is dedicated to clothing and accessories. They have several name brands, but also feature a few smaller brands specific to the style of clothing. Pricing ranged. There was nothing that seemed wildly expensive, but also nothing that seemed like the deal of a lifetime. The store is in great condition, well kept and was super clean. Plus they had that AC running, so the pop in was nice for many reasons! Service was solid as well. The staff was friendly, welcoming us in, checking on us during the shop and wishing us well. Overall, unexpected spot given the area that turned out to be a pretty cool spot to browse!

I feel compelled to share this experience, not out of malice, but out of disappointment and a deep…read moresense of frustration. As someone who not only spends a considerable amount of money at local businesses but also takes pride in supporting establishments within our community, I walked into this place expecting even the most basic level of respect. What I received was the complete opposite. Upon entering the establishment, I approached the owner directly and greeted him, trying to initiate a respectful, face-to-face interaction. To my surprise, and honestly my disbelief, he never looked up, never responded, and never acknowledged me at all -- as if I wasn't even standing there. There was no excuse, no distraction, no crowd, no reason not to extend a simple courtesy like eye contact or a greeting. This wasn't just bad customer service -- it was flat-out disrespect. What made the situation even more unsettling is that his own staff, who were standing nearby, were the only ones who showed any kind of professionalism. One of them looked over and said, "Good evening." That moment spoke volumes. If your team has to pick up the slack for your lack of basic human decency, something is seriously wrong with how your business is being run. I've come here before and spent real money -- not just once, but many times -- because I believed in putting my dollars into businesses that represent our city, our people, and our culture. But it's hard to continue supporting a place when the owner himself can't even show an ounce of gratitude or humility to the very customers who keep his doors open. Being a community-based business means something. It means showing love back to the people who show love to you. It means engaging, being present, and understanding that your energy and attitude affect every single person who walks through your doors. When you show your true colors -- especially to someone who's supported you without asking for anything in return -- people take notice. To anyone considering doing business here, I strongly advise you to think twice. It's one thing to have an off day, but it's another to make someone feel unseen, unappreciated, and unwelcome -- especially when they come with respect. I won't be back, and I won't recommend this place to anyone in my network until the ownership learns what true customer service -- and community care -- really looks like.
