RUDE store manager, she's running around all frantic and irritable, it's not my fault there is a delivery truck blocking traffic. Overpriced merchandise, wanted $128 for a woven bag that is mostly fabric and part fake leather! Might as well spend $200 more for real leather. The brand is BC Bags which is cheap anyway. I've walked by this little shoe boutique many times, with no good reason to enter. One walk by with my wife the week before Christmas is all it took to prompt me to return and make a purchase. I didn't expect five-star customer service, but that's exactly what I received. Spotlessly clean shop. Not a huge selection, but fun to shop. The clerk was so helpful in selecting a boot that I knew my wife would love. The sale was super easy. I was in and out in minutes. I was a hero on Christmas morning, however the boot fit was a bit too tight, so I walked back to the store to exchange for a half size larger. Different clerks, same five-star service. This time, the boot was a bit too large, so back again I went. This time I was helped by the owner, who was a pleasure to deal with as well. I came to New Orleans on vacation and while exploring around the French Quarter, I found this little gem and fell in LOVE. However, they had a sale section and it was a great deal. $39 for a pair of shoes, If you pay in cash. Well how could I say no to that?! I found a STUNNING pair of pink furry little heels and I instantly fell in love and I had to buy them! I wore them out that night around New Orleans and received tons of compliments. The back half of the store was $50 so I couldn't leave without something. I love the decor as well as the shoe quality. I love how the sizes that are left are on the bottom of each shoe. The sales associate was helpful in helping me make a decision. I would have gotten two but it wasn't a shopping trip so I got a designer pair of sandals. They felt like I was walking on a cloud. I could have sworn that I've been in this shoe store in years past & wasn't impressed with the shoes. However, on my most recent trip, I stopped to admire the shoes of someone walking down Chartres. She pointed out the store & told me that she'd recently bought them there. A few days later, I went in to discover a plethora of beautiful & unique footwear. (They must have changed their inventory since my last visit.) The salesman/manager, a fashionable man in his own right, was super helpful. I tried on several shoes, but walked out with two pairs - both of which were on sale for $39 apiece! Can you believe that?! He gave me a card & told me that they have another store over on Jackson Square, NoLa Foot Candy. An hour or so later, I was browsing in that store, too. I found some shoes that I liked, but planned to buy them the next day. Unfortunately, they were closed the next day. I happened to walk by Shoe Be Do again & noticed that they were open. Actually, they weren't technically open, but were doing inventory. Even so, when I mentioned my dilemma to the same manager, he said that he'd meet me at the other store & open it so that I could buy the shoes that I wanted. Thus, I met him at the other store, picked up the shoes I wanted AND bought yet another pair at Shoe Be Do. All of the shoes that I bought were on sale & were a great value. The manager went out of his way to help me, which virtually ensures my return business on my next trip to New Orleans. I bought a pair of the Julian Hakes Mojito shoes here - went by the window and just had to have them. I did research online before I came here, found prices for the Mojito to be comparable or more than Shoe Be Do and ended up purchasing here since I couldn't find the color I wanted in my size anywhere else. I would have paid about $30 less had I bought them from the Shoe Be Do website (prob due to the sales taxes in New Orleans which they do not charge online - free shipping too) but no big deal since I wanted to take them with me and not wait. I wanted to love this place, but they overcharge too much for the styles they stock. If you comparison shop at other retailers and online, you'll find that Shoe Be DO charges easily 10-20% more for much of what they carry, even when it's on sale. I know that it's hard to be a brick-and-mortar store in the Internet era, and I sympathize with a business needing to pay the rent, but that's a little ridiculous. They also had no size 11s when I came in, which is not that uncommon a size these days, with people getting taller and all. I still liked the place and wanted to give them some business, so I tried browsing online. The site is very hard to navigate and doesn't let you narrow inventory by size. It would have taken me too long to make the purchase, so I ended up buying the same style for less at another store. Sorry, Shoe Be DO. read more

This store has some of the most amazing shoes I've ever seen outside of Barney's New York. Some of them are so crazy, you've got to at least got to go in and look. I ended up going in during their buy one, get one 50% off sale. I found a very cute pair of boots and a trendy pair of heels. I thought that with the 50% sale (that's been, oddly, going on for the last 5 months, mind you.) the price of the shoes would balance out and (while they would probably be a little more expensive than online) they'd be reasonable. I assumed things would even out with shipping. I was so wrong. The prices at this place, even with the 50% off of one of them, are out of control. You can find almost all these shoes, even the cheaper ones, dramatically cheaper online or at other stores. Most of the boots sold at 50$, you can find online for 20$-ish and the 300-600$ heels are found in the 150-300$ range. I know I was foolish for not checking online, but my goodness, I didn't think I would be getting this gouged. Even in the French Quarter. The Juicy Couture bags, that you can buy retail for 120$, are sold at 240$. Come on, guys. Really? I also learned the hard way, that there is no returns. Even though it didn't say that on the receipt and I wasn't told that by the clerk. The people who work there wont treat you terribly well if you aren't acting and dressing like you have money. It's sad, since this is one of the more fashion forward places in the area. read more

There are also accessories and when I was there, they had these gorgeous Missoni capes in shades of red or blue. Shop here if you don't mind buying defective products that you are unable to get a refund on. We discovered this cute little shop while wandering around the French Quarter. They had a fun pair of shoes on the mannequin outside the clothing shop next door (with the same owners). I purchased a pair of unique shoes (that they only had one pair of in each size). I am used to shopping in reputable stores that treat customers fairly, so I concerned myself with how the shoes looked and felt and I didn't look for defects. After I got back to my hotel room, I discovered that there was a big stain on the heel. (It looked like glue that had soaked through the fabric.) I took the unworn shoes and the receipts back to the store and pointed out the defect. The sales clerk offered us an exchange within the store, but the same shoes weren't available in my size. I requested a refund. He pointed to the sign by the register and said that most stores in The Quarter don't give refunds. When we protested, the clerk indicated to us that because he usually shops in thrift stores, he finds it completely acceptable to purchase clothing that is stained and/or defective. This store is NOT charging thrift store prices, so I do NOT find stains or defects in the merchandise acceptable. read more
