2/1/20 my husband and I were scheduled to fly from Kiruna, Sweden to London with a layover in Stockholm, leaving at 13:10 arriving at 18:20ish. We get on the plane and we sit in it for nearly 3 hours while a mechanical issue is dealt with. We were told the handle of the cargo door was frozen a shut. We finally get in the air and 20 minutes into the flight we're told we the plane is experiencing another issue, some door wasn't closed all the way, and we needed to land in some other town. We flew another 15+ minutes and circled this place for nearly 30 minutes before landIng again. We had to sit on the ground in the plane for another 45 minutes, at one point another passenger asked for water and was told that if they were given water everyone could have water but the plane doesn't have enough for everyone. Little to no information has been given to us about anything going on or how we're supposed to meet connecting flights.
Fast forward and we're off the plane finally.
We are all starving, thirsty and irritated. This angry heard of flyers bombards this tiny airport food stand, the ONLY place that's open and it's being operated by one unfortunate girl (she was awesome by the way), and we don't hear from the airline for over an hour.
The rest of this long story short, 1/3 of the people on the flight were given seats on another flight leaving through a different agency, the rest of us were sent to a hotel for the night, we arrived at the hotel approximately 22:00 and had to be up about 5:45 to get the bus back to the airport at 6:30, because the airport was 20 minutes away. We made it to London on 2/2/20 at 14:00. No compensation for meals, hotels/scheduled and payed for events missed, assistance with missed connecting flights was mentioned, no sorry, nothing. Not exactly the best way to spend a chunk of time on our honeymoon. By the sounds of it we were some of the lucky ones. Other passengers are out 100's if not 1,000's of dollars because of this fiasco. read more
